Im Looking for a Great F2P game!

Well I think ive had my fill of World of Warcraft and Im looking into something else atm.  Not sure what to play tho.  Ive trying some f2p games out but not sure which is a good one.  Ive recently been trying Tantra Online out but it disconnects like every 3 mins so thats getting annoying pretty quick.

Anyways if yall could list a few that I could try would be great.

Thanks

You might want to check out the link at the top of the page called FREE MMORPG /MMOG LIST. It has a ton of f2p games listed with descriptions.

Sorry to be a naysayer, and I will probably get flamed for this, but in my experience to date, if the game was worth playing it would not be free.

Rappelz owns all, IF, and only IF, you have a PC that can handle it. Otherwise you're better off playing one of the aforementioned games. (course this is my opinion). (you can google "rappelz", the first links hould be the Site)

It speaks for itself, check out the rappelz section on this site, the screenshots are not altered/(made to look presentable), its the real deal.

It's also got a great pet system, graphics, community. My only quam is a bit too much grinding, which I normally hate, but Rappelz manages to create a team-styled grind that is actually quite fun.

    Happy Hunting!

EDIT: the person who posted above, you should try out rappelz, i think you'd rethink your words. - rappelz is f2p, and gains many WoW converts, many other MMO converts for that matter, it runs off of a CS shop which is quite addicting according to those who use it, but as someone who hasn't spent a cent on the game, I can run and beat ;D, those who do. play smart.

That is propably true.  But even the games you have to pay for right now are a bit crappy.  WoW is over with, COV/COH is just to much of the same stuff over n over again.  Im not sure about the rest of em out there.

I guess it all depends on what you are into and your personal patience vs grind vs shiny new penny balance. I am a long tim eplayer of both Eve and EQ2 but have tries moany others for months until I became bored and tried something else. I think the day that the industry comes up with a new twist on the whole grind / raid backbone to these games, that will be the next serious breakthru. Until then, its fancier graphics and different settings / themes that will keep the genre ploughing ahead

To err is human....to play is divine

that's true. I'm not quite a fan of the grind. but there are games that cope with it alright, the industry had better to find an alternative, and if they do it'll be quite a game. - perhaps i'd actually dish out some $$ -, but as of now, the f2p game i'm playing is very satisfying and shows promise.

Then your most definitely not going to find any f2p games thats going to be any different than that. You get what you pay for, so to speak.

look, f2p games aren't bad at all. rappelz is testament to that. For those of you who havn't tried it, your seriously missing out one one of the better mmorpgs out there. I think that the "big" mmorpg list is just that a "big" list, which is overflowing with bad examples of f2ps... Once in a while something comes along that is just Good. and I'd like to remind you that some f2p games run off of a CS, the benefit is 2-fold. programmers are being paid + if implemented correctly, you don't have bizzarely over powered chars. Rappelz is a good example of that, some of the best players have never spent a penny.

u cant judge a game by its profit mode....f2p or p2p are just different profit modes of mmorpgs

    MMO Pitch LOL!!!

Perfect World is a pretty good free mmorpg. It's only in beta right now, though the game has a lot of promising feature's, such as an auction house system, seamless world, very detailed character creation system, being able to fly, the option of exchanging in-game currency for item mall currency, so you wouldn't even have to pay to use the item mall. You also have the option of using either point/click movement or WASD key's. Perfect World's graphics are also pretty amazing.

Their is no "official" english version of the beta yet, though it is possible to download the Malaysian/Japanese client and use an English patch to play with English text. The English beta is soon to be released though.

You can try ryl incomplete union, its not listed here but is one of the better truly free mmorpg's out there.

    playing eq2 and two worlds

+1 for 9Dragons.... not bad at all for a f2p game.  The ads are not very intrusive.

Not sure how long it will last since all the ads are for other free Acclaim games, though.. my 1337 MBA skills tell me there's something missing in that equation.

Right now im waiting for my next mmo (war/aoc) so I started to play some f2p mmos. Tried 2 moons didnt really like it, though it does has a pretty open pvp system which is nice. Im playing silk road right now and so far I like it. Its a bit laggy at times but it has some cool features.

That list says that it was edited (=updated) in September 2005. Which means it hasn't been updated in almost 2 years.

Playing: Final Fantasy Online: ARR, Destiny
Most memorable games for me: UO, GW1, LoTRO

  • Well I have a few to recommend. I think 2moons, Lunia, and Perfect World were pretty good. Drift city was very very fun, but isn't online right now...it's going back online later this month for open beta though. Some people do not like 2moons though, so you might not. Lunia is kind of like an arcade styled MMORPG...and perfect world is like WoW but chinese and a lot nicer in my opinion. I tried out Rappelz awhile back and thought that it was alright...never really got that far though. Silkroad was always to laggy, and the servers were always full....so I quit that in just about a day. It all depends on what you like though....I started off by playing runescape...and even though most people will probably say stupid things about this x.x.....I actually started playing Runescape again..I remembered it being my first mmorpg and quite fun. I had forgotten why mmorpg's were fun, so I figured I might as well go back to the basics, and I must say..I'm having lots of fun. Games are meant to be fun...everyone has there own idea of whats fun and whats not. That is why some people will like games like 2moons or Runescape, and others will hate them. I suggest you just try out all the ones that we have suggested, and hopefully you'll find one that you like. Good luck in finding the perfect game for you

i think you're looking in the wrong places.  i'm cheap and so is my system - i've never p2p, nor have i tried to run something the size of WoW.  i guess it's common to try and replace your first MMO, and be utterly unsuccessful.  i played Conquer Online for the longest time, and i still go back.  don't just play games rated 8.0+.

    =) :

    Guild Wars

    MU Online

    Zu Online (development)

    Perfect World

    Rappelz

    RYL:  Unforgiven Wars

    Scions of Fate (Yulgang)

    Shadowbane

    =( :

    Lunia

    Tantra

    2 Moons

    Tantra

    Last Chaos

    9 Dragons

    Silkroad Online

    **my perosnal opinion.

I think there are no "great" F2P games.. all those games are same just with different textures. if u whant realy great game you should look at P2P games..
