Coming back?

Hi there guys,

The first MMORPG I played was DAOC. It taught it was awesome. After a while, I got bored, because I had trouble getting enough level to party worth people. So, sold my game to a friend and I switched to try new things.

That is when I tried Eve online - not bad but not good either - SWG - was one of the worst game I've ever tried - and Final Fantasy XI - was good but the forced grouping was a pain in the ass.

Now I, thinking about buying the Platinum edition and coming back into DAOC. DO you guys think it worth it? Will I be able to have fun and find some group?

In all honesty; you will find no one to group with. The new BGs may help, but I think its only for stealthers atm picking out lonely casters, and other stealthers. With my /level characters I can do nothing but solo. If you do not have a lvl 50 then you will be frustrated. RvR is a lot better with the new free xpac. Instant teleports to keeps gets you close to the battles. Until Mythic does something to help newbies I will have to recommend people staying away.

That's unfortunate to hear that noobs are few and far between anymore. DaoC was the only MMORPG I've ever quit and given serious consideration to going back to...and I've played a lot of them.

Just went back myself still had all my level50 but would hate to start new .If u know someone who will pl u or get u into a guild should be ok if not stay away hate to say.

Don't be discouraged, try out the 7 day game and see if you like it. I had been gone a long time also with a 50 Bonedancer but I started a char in hib from lvl 1 since i didn't know the Hib realm

I would recomend playing a populated server like Merlin and just do /task missions till lvl 20(faster xp than teaming actually). This as you know is not EQ and leveling is much faster and it would probably take you about a week if that to get 20.

I started on Merlin HIb and within a couple of days I was in a guild and having a lot of fun. You don't have to spend hours upon hours grinding xp like EQ and yes I'm a casual gamer of sorts.

When you start a new character you start in newbie guild and it's quite helpful. Let me also add I'm no fanboy

DAoC is still overall the best MMORPG I've ever played I think. Currently I'm play CoH but I thought about going back to DAoC again to check out some of the new stuff. But it says the 14 day free thing is only for US residents, and I'm Canadian

I dunno, I may still try it out again before WOW comes out.

Definately the best mmo i have ever played, i just went back to DAoC after getting tired of CoH, and its great to be back. Finding a low level group is no problem as long as you pick a server with a decent population.

i have friends from europe that are trying the 14 days free thing ::::02:: in USA servers. ::::01:: (isn`t only for US residents)

I came back to the game for the 14 day trial and it is still fun, but gets boring by yourself. I would say wait to come back till they come out of catacombs expansion and then you will find more lower lvs grouping because of the instance dungeons.

But they still have to put in a credit card number when they sign up for the trial don't they? It asked me to. So they might still get billed Who knows, I may still give it a try this weekend. That game could really use in-game maps though. Does anyone know if they are going to add that in the Catacombs expansion when it comes out?

If you are on the 14 free trial and reactivating an old account. (which is only way you can get the 14 trial) It does not ask you for cc info. It just says welcome back to DAoC and you will not be able to log in after 14 days unless you decide to put in payment info

Well, I'm really thinking about coming back, because right now, I don't have any other MMORPG that I want to play while I wait for EQ II and WoW.

So what do you guys think of the Platinum Edition? It seems a good deal to me, but I just want to be sure about it.

That's strange cause I downloaded the necessary upgrades it told me to off Fileplanet and installed them, loaded up the game, it patched for a bit then when I tried to log in with my old account it asked me to put in a credit card number and choose a subscription plan. I figured it was because I'm from Canada and not the states, cause I know in one spot I read it did say Open to U.S. Residents only, but most places it doesn't say anything. Grrrr

Yeah im also from Canada and the exact same thing happend to me. Why wont they let us play? Its cold up here and we need something to do... and if youve ever been to Saskatchewan you would know what i am talking about.

I dont know if im doing something wrong here or not, but it just tells me my 30-day trial is over and that i have to enter billing info. How do i get the 14 days free?

I'm in Canada and the free trial does'nt seems to work. So sad... I got to wait two more week before the platinum edition get in here.
