A Marvel Comics MMORPG?

Has anyone else heard the rumor that Marvel Comics is going to be coming out with a MMORPG of their own and that's why they are being  so stern with NCSoft about copyright violation issues?  I've heard mutters here and there, but nothing substantial.  Anyways I just wanted to see if anyone else had heard anything about this.

    Indeed way back in 2002 Vivendi Universal got the rights to make a Marvel Universe based mmorpg in a 10 year contract. Initially it was due out in 2005, however except for a couple articles online from back around that time there hasn't been any news released about it that I've seen.

    Here's 2 of the old articles, you can do a search online and find others, but like these most all of them I have found simply talk about the contract, no details on the game at all:

    Dude, that would be so awesome if they did!, like it could be like city of heroes, but then the variety of stuff would have to be lowered for it, cause of CoH took em all lol.

    Also in an interview that HomeLAN conducted with Ames Kirshen, the Games Manager for Marvel, in Feb 2004 there was this one question about the Marvel MMORPG, as the interview was just about Marvel games in general:

    HomeLAN - The Marvel MMORPG from VUGames was also mentioned in the press release. That game has been announced for some time but since the official press release nothing has been revealed about its status. Can you give us an idea on what is going on with that game?

    Ames Kirshen - As you know, MMORPG are massive undertaking both economically as well as technologically and creatively. Factor in a universe of Marvel characters with thousands of powers, and it's a very challenging game to make. VUG and Marvel are working very closely to make sure we have the best MMORPG possible that stands out from the competition. To use the old adage of PC game development, "it'll be done when it's done." =)

    Something like this would really put a hurtin' on CoH, me thinks....hehe.

    I think they Meant 'Xmen Legends.
