Having sex and lots of violence in a game isn't going to 'block kiddies' from playing, it's going to encourage them. I find it incredible that everyone is jumping to conclusions that conflct with reality and human nature. Besides it's not really the age of players than matters so much, it's the maturity. Can people in a psuedo-anonymous PvP world really be trusted to handle sexual themes in a mature fashion? Of course they can't, I'll take my "WoW kiddies" moniker over pervy adolescence any day of the week thank you very much.
I have to agree with recant on this one, ever played 2 Moons? its another one of those "mature" games and it has possibly the WORST community of all time.and yes even worse than a WoW PVP server.blood,gore,nudity ect.. all those seem to do is attract more kids than an ice cream truck. and some one else has stated its the kids wanting to do the things they really aren't suppose to thats what makes it so fun.I drank and partied my ass off in my teens once i turned 21 and was leagal to drink, it just was never as fun as it was way back then, hell i'm 30 now and haven't had a single beer in like 4 years its just no fun anymore.
The sad thing about mmo's is that most of the "women" avatars in game are actually men who like playing women, usually for aesthetics. Yea, I know a very small handful of women who actually play PC games and a much smaller amount (I can count them on one hand) who would even think of playing mmo's.
So I hope they at least keep the probably off-screen sex between pc's and npc's only, as I'm sure you'll eventually run into the scenario of two RL guys playing women who think they're having sex with real women.
Also, The Sims 2 has tons and tons of sex (Where do you think babies come from ) and only has a Teen rating. It's very artfully done. So I think if the guys at Maxis can get away with that, AoC has much more leniency with an M rating. My only hope is that it serves some purpose (A buff seems like an excuse to put it in game more than a need) other than a form of virtual masturbation for eager players. Otherwise it seems like a useless and unnecessary addition to a game (already pushing it atm).

Why is it that sex is such a deng taboo i dont understand it. Its a natural part of life why in the hell (mainly the USA) are so many people afraid of showing/seeing sex or sex related things it blows my mind. Every were you look there is something sex related i know every damn one of you think about or do it.. so whys it so scary and or sinful to you? the US. living here sex is so damn taboo its sad. Initially I had planned on gettin AoC the day it came out. More and more its hollywooding out. I suppose people love of sex and mindless violence is going to spill over into the MMO genre as well. So, it looks like Ill be waiting for a while after release to see what everyone else has to say about it before I make my purchase. After all, why would I pay 50 bucks to hang out with other peoples kids.
