MMORPGS with free trials(that doesnt require credit card)

Ive played WOW for about 2 years, and would like to try something different. Im mainly into the fantasy setting.

Im looking at Vanguard; saga of hereos.. and that doesnt have a free trial yet.. so i dont know how it would run on my computer. I tried COH, really didnt get in to it., same thing with LOTR. Whats some good ones, that would run ok on a few year old computer?

The first one that pops into my head is Anarchy Online. Technically the original version of the game is free period, but the expansions which cost monthly add so much to it that is might as well be a free trial with significantly greater limits than other games have.

Primary deciding attributes of the game:

    -science fiction setting

    -level/skill hybrid system

-48 different race/class combinations, functionally unlimited viable skill/equipment setups.

-near legendary ingame customer service program (out of game CS is average at best)

-6 years old, and showing it. The graphics are significantly subpar when it comes to today's standards, at least in technical terms, the style is excellent in my opinion. This does however help when working with older computers.

-Ingame advertisements that free players can't turn off. These are fairly unobtrusive, and only are present on billboards in major cities, but they are there and can be annoying after a time.

-Very high learning curve. The basics of the game are easy to learn, but truly understanding it can take years for some. In my experience, only EVE Online has a steeper learning curve among MMOs.

If you are wondering about its population, the game had a botched launch, one that was quickly turned around, but by then it was too late. If the makers of AO had not been forced into releasing it too soon in the development process, the game would have had MUCH more success than is currently on the charts. How much more would be difficult to say.

You can download and play "The trial of the isle", (EQ2) without a credit card and you can play it as long as you like.  Of course after you reach level 10 everything will gray out for you, but you can still mentor down to lower level players and keep on playing.  Eventually you will want to leave the island and for that you will have to have either a credit card or game time card.
