Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

I really wanted to come back, but ...

... but i fear i won't.

There are 3 simple things that show me, that the crew behind Horizons didn't learned from the past.

I'll skip all the "why i liked hz so much" stuff, since i think it's enough to say, that i really reinstalled horizons and was ready for a comeback.

Problem 1 : Why are you posting this here ?

Because i tried to get an account over at istaria.com. But the forum accounts are under moderation. Old veterans quitting  there because of the forum moderation. Well, i just tried to make an ordinary account and named it "Caithleen". Nothing offending, a normal name and my Character in horizons has the same.

My Account wasn't activated, it was removed before activation. Seems they don't want me in their community (again).

Problem 2 : Unity.

There was a quick first response to the unity problem and then .. there was silence ... like EI before. Oh well, we never learn from our own (company) history, don't we ? The CSR Team posts about 1 post a day. That's not really good if you keep in mind, that they just (re)bought the game a week ago and have to reanimate the game and community.

Problem 3 : Price.

Okay, so your game is beeing reanimated. It allready died in the hands of EI. Don't get me wrong, i loved hz and the great community. But in commercial sense it was a failure from the start. Then it went down down down. Now we have a game with a very strong community and old engines, bugs, content. The thing the game lives from is the community. And fresh meat.

One of the first things they do is talk about "can we up the sub ?" and "how about premium subs?". Keep in mind here, that the basic sub planned will be more expensive and offer less than we had in the past. Is this the right way to reanimate the game and get fresh palyers into it ? Don't think so. I would even argue if it's worth a full price mmog-sub in its current state.

Oh well, another negative post, but im really sorry that this is again history repeating. Would really have loved to restart hz. But not with these problems, and i won't move from HDRO to HZ when i had to pay more. Not that i don't think it's worth the price (and i can afford it, well 15$) but the circumstances under which they are talking about higher subs are just ...

Care about the little community you have left. Try to get the game back running and make it interesting again, so new players are attracted. And new players aren't attracted by big subs. When you have a stable community running again, then talk about sub prices.

Oh well. It could have been a real niec restart in istaria.

Horizons died a long long time ago. Once a game dies, it never comes back.

Life is about Living, Sleep is about Dreaming, Games are about Strategy!

    Yeah, I know the feeling.

Tried to log in to my account, but nada.

Tried looking to see if the european servers were still up. Zip.

Tried to find info on when Unity would come back. Zilch.

I felt friggn' depressed for a whole week.

Finally had a new computer, new internet connection  (a fast one this time), and what happens?

They kick the Life out of the game to which I always came home.

    R.I.P. Horizons Unity.

    With the greatest of greetings,

    Never yours truly,

First off, you guys who say you tried to make a new account or log into your old one must b like 5 years old ... Ive made 2 new

accounts and have also been able to log into my old ones once i remembered the passwords.

2nd, they are offering in the new billing that you can play for $9.95 a month, for a basic subscription with 3 characters and so on.

    http://community.istaria.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16328

there are the full details for those who are interested.

Ive been back for about 2 weeks now and the crafting is still fun, there is more community than i thought there would b, though most

are there to make dragons .. the only thing that will keep me from playing this game is the lack of adventure, i still run all over the

map with my lv 57 reaver and i dont see very many mobs, even ones that used to be there are gone now .. If you do find mobs they

usually are of the golem, pigmy or wolf variety .. would be nice to see something different  once in a while .. anyways .. its free to try

at the moment, so you can make up your own minds about the game .. i think it was way ahead of its time when it launched in 03,

and still has some great ideas that others never seemed to put into their mmo's .. but after crafting for hours on buildings, weapons

and armor, would be nice to be able to adventure a lil bit also .. IMHO

While there is no tracker on the site:

    http://community.istaria.com/forum/search.php?searchid=190123

Is the Horizons_CS account, which will show you everything they have responded to recently (an actual amazing amount tbh).

Unity is mentioned there as well as the several of the other things the OP has mentioned.

    It's worth a looksee.

First off, starting a post with insulting others "they must be like 5 y old" is a very poor try to be taken serious by others.

Second, you should take a look here : http://community.istaria.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16376

After Takora, former shard herald of unity, posted a bit pissed about the registration problem (after others complained too on a german fansite), they clearly stated that the registrations we're declined.

I won't even start about old game, old content, empty world, laggy gameplay, server downtimes on this old bummer. Tried again, but without the old community this is just an empty world. Perhaps i'll try again in some weeks, when the remaining unity players have moved (if ever) to chaos and my old chars have been transferred there too as well.

A bit of clarification, and my apologies if my message was misunderstood.

We are NOT declining every single registration.  Yes, we have to approve each and every single one.  It is very frustrating for us, but the Horizons Community boards has been constantly bombarded with spam-bots that are specifically programmed to create new forum accounts with the intentions of spamming advertisements.

Personally speaking, *I* don't want to have to approve every new account, and I'm pretty sure it takes up a lot of the developers time which could be spent on other things..   Unfortunately, someone created a new account and the person used it to spam the forum with advertisements for "adult entertainment".  As much as I don't like the fact that we have to approve new accounts, this is the unfortunate result of that.

Virtrium is working on a fix, that should cut down on 99.9% of the spam-registrations.  Once that is implemented, we'll take off new account validations, and people can create a forum account without the need for approval.

I apologize for the needed account validation, but unfortunately, it is necessary.  If you still would like to register a new account, you are most welcome to do so..  just send a PM to myself ("Menkure"), or Virtrium's customer support account ("Horizons CS"), and we'll get you set up..  let us know you are an active or returning player, and that you'd like to get an account.. that is really all we need.  *smiles*

    Sincerely,

    Menkure

Is the old PR woman coming back to Horizons? I forgot her name, but she was amazing. Actually, it might have even been a guy, I just thought it sounded like a woman's name. I think the name on MMOROG.com was Ophelia.
