I was into SWG in the early days, then played a few mmo's in beta w/ no avail. Next I played WoW and enjoyed the pvp, but got burned out eventually. I wasn't even interested in the newest upgrade. For the past year I've been in search of a good MMORPG but only played EQ2 for a spell but didn't like a few features. I'm kind of picky about my mmo's and would love to hear you ppl's opinions. Here are the things I like to have in a mmorpg. I like to have pvp first of all. I also like to have player housing and be able to decorate it. SWG had it perfect up to JTLS then it all went downhill. EQ2 was ok but didn't like the way you just rent an apt in a city, type of deal. I'd like to build my darn house wherever I please, specially in a guild town. To have someone actually craft one for me would be cool too Obviously I like to have guild warfare. Instances would be nice (like WoW), good transportation is a must ( I pay to play, not to wait around and take forever). Player owned shops is really neat as well. Of course I don't wan't lag, but the the heck does I've been reading about some game that interest me a little but they are usually missing on of the above qualities. Am I too darn picky or should I just keep waiting for the dream rpg to come out? There seems to be a lot of mmo's w/ that I've never heard of out there, maybe I'm missing something. If you have an idea or suggestion please fill me in. Seems like there are no good pvp mmo's out there anymore, worth playing. Need a new rpg addiction, please HELP!!
Burnt out on WoW. Loved SWG till SOE ruined it after JTLS. EQ2 isn't that great for crafting. What's next??

i think age of conan is supposed to have houses and guild villages where ever they want, might want to check into that game.
ps i dont think its out yet but i could be wrong
As far as MMOs go, none out there. P2P or free, look intriguing, and the ones I tried are gearing to try to take out Quake/Halo more than EQ or WoW. None do any of the following:
- add actual character diversity (instead of the Human/elf/orc/dwarf/etc line).
- have set the level too high to be playable without boring grinds (Level 24 quests at 16).
- have limited scopes on how your character looks.
- allow RPers to RP in a good server, without PKers.
- have anywhere near decent graphics.
Methinks the mmo field is falling into the EQ trap, and not wanting to experiment. Any naysayers?

I'll have to look into age of conan. Thanks for the advice

You are aware that some people like to role play "play killers"... As in real life, murders help create a setting for better or worse... Thats not a point against role playing, it adds to the depth.
While this might be true, the problem lies in implementing a good RP/PVP system, without having "Quake wannabes" in the mix. Unless there was a -real- disability for PVP without boundaries (ie you kill someone you can't go into a city or village ever without being hunted down and killed by the guards at least 30-40 lvls higher than you), there is no reason for PVP, lest it be isolated away from the main realm. If they did as I suggest, then the PKers that want to RP PKers can without argument from me, but I'll stay with the guarded roads. Even in Rappelz, on a supposed RP server, I got ganked by a PKer who liked PKing, not RPing.
