Anyone have any suggestions? Can anyone tell me what MMO they're playing?

Im being serious get the 14 day free trial of EvE.

I played the game not expecting anything and I got a huge suprise. It is by far the best MMO out right now, and it is starting to top my favorite MMO of all time which is pre-nge SWG.

Great community, great combat, but a huge learning curve. Go through the tutorial and dont skip it, and you will be on your way, only do this if your willing to invest a good 3 hours to learning the basics. AT LEAST! Once your on your way your not going to want to stop.

Eve is boring. Play Daoc or UO until one of the new games comes out. Or play EQII if you like the WoW type games (assuming you've already played WoW). Lotro and CoH are good at first but both get old fast. FFXI is good if you like good stories and cutscenes, but the leveling in that game makes you think taking a hammer to your balls would be more fun. Most everything else is garbage or asian grinders. But yeah....Daoc or UO would be my choices personally.

Really what I'd do is buy the orange box from steam and just play Team fortress 2/portal/hl2 until an mmo comes out that's good. That or go outside.

Lol you might want to describe what type of MMO you are looking for, and what you usually like to play.

    Well, perhaps this will help.

I have active subs to:  WoW, EQ 2, SWG, Vanguard [and EQ 1 on non-SOE server.]

I really only play EQ 2 and Vanguard.

I think EQ 2 is the best among them all.

Well for a free MMO I would really recommend Perfect World. Why? because its really fun, plenty of quests so you don't have yo grind, nice landscape, tons of content for a f2p, very in depth char customization, has sea, air, land combat need I say more?

If you can dish out some money I would say Guildwars or WOW. Guildwars has very strategic team system and the PVP is one of the best. WOW has alot of content and the raids are very fun. Maybe you can try EVE. It is a very great game though not many people would be used to it since it's a very different type of MMO

    1. Get a WoW trial account.

    2. Play it till the account closes.

    3. Come back and tell us what you liked and disliked with it.

    4. We'll try to point you in the right direction. :)

that's actually a good idea to give you/us a baseline for what you do or don't like in a game.

right now i have 2 games on my computer, perfect world and anarchy online. both free, and both much better than 95% of the pay to play games out there now.

Yeah, it's a good idea to go get WoW. Now here are my suggestions

First and foremost, the highest ranking game in my list is City of Heroes. Its just &#(%ing fun!. Basically you are a Superhero in a city full of vandals. Sure theres grinding, but the missions never run out, you get to have the superpowers of your childhood dreams, and the costume and character creation system is just... No words. Its just Amazing. The PvP is helluva fun, giving you control and bonuses and getting you temp powers. The combat system is very free-range and adaptable.

In Summary, great game, amazing character creation, bit of a grind (You get used to it) awesome powers, and sweetass effects and stuff. Sure it's P2P but hell, it's awesome.

Guild Wars- NO GRIND WHATSOEVER! Level 20 (Max) takes you 2-7 days, and after that it's all build equipment runes and strategy. The cutscenes are pretty nice, and awesome effects. You are allowed 8 skills per mish/whatever and a certain build. YOu can multiclass (Which alot do and it's a helluva good idea) and the classes are cool too. Every map you go to is your own instance so no bothers. All the titles (Achievements) you get will be bonuses in the new GW2 Coming out soon, so now is a good time to start, but if you want bonuses in GW2, you NEED Eye of The North to save your progress.

In Summary, Nice build/skill system, sweetass effects, instances, cutscenes amazing, really strategic and sweetass PvP, and fun weapons and crap.

Those 2 games are my all time faveorites and are kickass (IMO). If you want more info, say so, and if both dont appeal, also say so. I have many more minor good games.

NOTE: City of Heroes is 40$ +15 Per Month

GW Is 30$ for any campaign plus 40$ for Eye of the northj (To save progress) and free forever after that.

    Get eve, i agree

    Played almost everything...
    Currently playing nothing...
Waiting for: Darkfall, WAR, Guild Wars 2.

I might get it too just to see and review it. Maybe. Also on a random note and unrelated, to the poster "Freakomar", if your waiting for GW2, I suggest you get GW:EN and any other campaign. If you get max titles, IE achievements, they count as bonuses in GW2 when you save your progress. Also, you get to keep your armour, MAYBE skill books, and etc.

cool, thanks but i already own Nightfall AND it did not appeal to me ... Everything I disliked about the game , will change in GW2... such as no instancing, world pvp, races, factions and jumping yay :)

Not saying GW is bad, its awesome - just doesnt suit me.

I've played WoW since a couple months after release and recently quit. I dislike GW and all of its expansions. I've Played CoH/CoV as well. And I'm really confused on what game to play right now.

  • HEYuSHOOSHHEYuSHOOSH Member UncommonPosts: 107

More recommendations please! And also, I don't like any type of airplanes or Spaceships so I didn't really like EVE online.

Give SWG a try.  There's a free 14 day trial available at www.tryswg.com

I say play a different genre like an FPS, RTS, or something else.  Then come back to the MMORPG genre when something fresh comes along, which could be never.

  • ZynroZynro Member Posts: 29

Well, when I can't pick somehting in a MMORPG cause it's like this is better than that or something, I usually just ask myself, "What do I want to do? Whats fun?" and go with that. Try that.

Also, personally I'm waiting for Parfait Station to come out, or whatever it's called. And like the previous dude said, you could always take a break from MMORPG's.

On another note, you can't say you've "Tried" CoX(H/V) before you've gotten to 20+. Thats where the FUN kicks in.

I used to be a big WoW player if that helps, I really enjoyed it, but got bored and I'm now looking for a new mmo to play!

  • safwdsafwd Member Posts: 879

Download the free trial of EQ2 if you havent played that.

It is like WoW with alot more to do.

  • HEYuSHOOSHHEYuSHOOSH Member UncommonPosts: 107

Ya I play EQ2 for a while, it was pretty cool.

  • xxthecorexxxxthecorexx Member Posts: 1,078

wow. still didn't pick a game.

as i said in many other posts.. anarchy online and perfect world are both VERY good free to play games. spend a few months in one, or both of them until a few of the new releases come out, or stick it out in them, you're not gunna find a whole lot better than either one of them right now anyway.

I've played them all pretty much, EQ2 is the best "new" game out now. If you don't mind older games UO is the best, followed by Daoc.

Try EQ2, you will love it.

    I've already played:

    wow

    eq2

    eve

Instead I'll ask what MMO's are you guys playing?

  • LobenLoben Member CommonPosts: 206

You could try Hellgate: London. I hear a lot of people saying it's fun. I haven't been following it closely though so I don't know if it's actually out yet. That or apply to Warhammer/Conan/Spellborn betas or something.

  • IGNEUSIGNEUS Member Posts: 31

well, if your into hardcore and forgetting your life, i say try final fantasy xi, the games hokey in some ways, but very challenging. if not, and you already left WoW and EQ2 looking for more... your pretty much screwed. i left eq2 looking for more, after 9 months i'm returning to it. It's not that there isnt any other good games out there, they're just not so accessible for late comers.

as for the future, there's a lot of hopefuls, but you can look at the past, recent hopefuls have been nothing more than a disappointment. The MMORPG world is becoming more mainstream and you see mindless beat 'em up games like city of heroes/villians on the rise. the clutter is getting thick.
