Why I'm going to play this game and you should too...

gagigodengagigoden Member Posts: 13

I'm going to play this game for many reasons:

The devs have been working closely with the Wachowski Brothers and are promising that there will be new story developments every week.

As a player in MxO, we will all be able to play a part in shaping the ongoing story of the Matrix. Even low-level, casual players will be able to play a part in the story, so it's not like only the really hardcore playyers will have any effect on the story. It's all about how well you play the game. Those who play the game well (not just level grind) will be given bigger, more important missions and it is rumored that if you play the game correctly you may be able to meet characters from the films on missions.

The fighting system, Interlock, from what I can see, will be amazing. The fighting in 99% of MMO's is rather stagnant, but the battle system in MxO allows for cool martial arts fights just like from the Matrix films. There are literally thousands of combinations of combosand counter-attacks that can be acted out in a battle between two, so you will usually only see the same attack animation rarely.

The are three classes in MxO, Hacker, Spy, and Soldier. Hackers can craft tons of different materials in the Matrix, infect opponents with viruses and other malicious code when in battle, and essentialy cure their teammates or perform various debuffs to strengthen them. Spies are good at infiltration and subterfuge and can perform devastating sneak attacks that cripple their opponents. They are the masters of obtaining information from data nodes in the Matrix. Soldiers are the Martial Artists. They are the masters of hand-to-hand combat and can learn many different styles of fighting and special moves. I'm not sure wether there is another class for people who use guns, but I know that you can use guns in the Matrix.

The most intruiging aspect of MxO is that there is no money in the game (what use is money serve in a fake world?). Instead, the main form of currency is information. People can trade items for information. This mass-trading of items for information will make up MxO's player-driven economy. Players can obtain information by finding an open data node withtn the Matrix and hacking into it. The Matrix doesn't sit by idly while you do this, howvever, and you will often find yourself being confronted by an agent. In which case you must run like hell. As your skill increases, you will be able to often trick the system into thinking you are a welcomed guest to prevent agents from spawning close-by and coming after you whenever you hack a data node. Much valuable information about the surroundings, people, and fine workings of the Matrix can be obtained through missions and by tapping into fat data nodes.

The city in MxO is massive and by the time all of the expansions are released, it will be the largest game area in MMO history. More over, every single building in the city has floors and every floor has rooms which can all be accesed without any loading times. Many of the rooms and areas will be guarded by hostile exiled programs or human guards. Either way there is plenty of dangers in the various neighborhoods of the city. Also, you can look out of the windows of buildings and actually see all of the people down below including PCs, NPCs, and cars passing by.

The three main orginizations that you can join are the Merovingian's clan, The Machines, and the Zionists. Each of these groups has their own agenda. The Merovingian is always tying to obtain more power in the Matrix. The Machinists are trying to end the temporary peace in order to bring power back to the Machines. The Zionists are trying to prolong the peace between humans and machines. Within these orginizations everyone will have their own clans. The coolest thing about these orginizations is that their paths will often cross and result in faction wars. There is even a video on the net from E3 showing this huge superbrawl between two factions. ::::28::
http://mxo.clanomni.com/
(You need BitTorrent to download the video)
That video is nothing short of amazing...

*Feel free to correct me if any of my information is incorrect and feel free to add more reasons why this game will be good.

There are more reasons why this game will be good, but I don't feel like posting them right now. If the game delivers on the majority of what it promises, it will be amazing.::::02::

I feel that the negative attention this game garners is unwarranted and mainly happens because people don't know much about the game or fully understand just how much the game is going to affect the Matrix story. Oh, and if you think this game will suck just because it is the Matrix, then you are a biased, ignorant fool who should stay out of these forums.

http://mxo.clanomni.com/ <---- Wow, that was a pretty cool video. The gameplay in this game is far more interesting than any other MMO coming out this year.

I fully intended on just writing "No." and not posting in the topic, but you had a long thought out post with good information.

You've convinced me the game might not suck.

  • paravionparavion Member Posts: 422

hmm you convince me a bit ... but info and weapons as currency... whats so good about the info?  what can u do with it in the game?  is there a limit to the info you receive?  what if all info is known and no one needs it anymore then how is the economy gonna work?

    Great info!!!!!!!

Cuz of you ill preorder this game image

One thing i dont understand is the economy, information? i dont get it, but sounds cool image

  • gagigodengagigoden Member Posts: 13

lol yeah, the devs have been pretty tight-lipped on how the economy works, but they insist that the player-run economy will be robust and that trading info that you've obtained will be worth while.

image I love Matrix but that is not the only reason you know. The game is getting hype and i am getting excited. I already am joining a clan but what i don't undertand is that why are there so many clans and everyone wants to be an allied with another caln. I think it's time to make sworn enemy's. But the game will be great if i could i would be a mixture of a Spy and an Hacker.

There is one problem though i  think the Fee will be alot i don't know why i think this it's just i thinks there going to charge so much.

Mx0 is working hard on a storyline and allowing the players true interaction with the world. That means a lot for breaking the mold that is most MMO's. I was one of those fools who originally scoffed at Mx0 because it was a continuation of a very disheartening ending for me. I was so distraught at the ending of the third movie and the 20 minute Trinity death scene that my excitement for the matrix died with her. After reading the gamespy and ign (p)reviews, I've changed my mind. It's one of the MMO's that I'm actively watching and hoping that it matures properly. The only real thing that bothers me is what the communities do to the games. Lets face it, MMO needs a community. And I'm not sure that Mx0 will attract the right community members for me to enjoy playing it.

Screenshots and videos are necessary for first impressions, but what you can't see in them are the things that matter the most.

    so...

actually he mosty cut and paste from IGN or gamespy. The video isnt that impressive. It shows of a 8vs8 brawl. And it basically suffers from all MMO large battles that rely on turn taking.

Guy is getting beat up, turns around, waits, get hit in back by other player.

the 1 on 1 fighting is cool as HELLLL. But when the devs try to show a really really long battle with the samething over and over, its not that cool.

Im not insulting the game, it has the best combat i ever seen in a MMO, but its not appealing in a video. Visit other Matrix sites. Warcy or UGO. No torrent there.

This looks like it's gonna be one of the best mmo's yet.  The world is gonna be huge, yet it looks like it will be full of details (from the screenshots and what the devs have said).  Every building will have an address and every room will have a number.  You can go into every building and every room (it may be tougher to get into some than others).  NPC's will be all over the place, whether they're blue pills, red pills, or programs.  The Wachowskis will be helping to write the storyline, so I'm hopeful that it will be pretty cool.  Characters will be very immersed in the story line, sometimes player characters will even be featured in videos that push the story along.  And I haven't even gotten to combat.  They're will be tons of combat skills, and, although it won't be twitch control, you will have more control over the combat than most other mmorpgs (or a lot of regular rpgs for that matter).  To see more about MxO, visit www.thematrixonline.com (I recommend reading Tyndall's city guide, it shows you just how big the matrix world really is), and www.matrixgate.net (read the interviews for a lot fo information).

One of the more interesting parts is that no one really knows how the factions will play out. Even to this day the major websites/groups are not sure what side to take. I wouldn't be surprised at all if you see many changes and conflict within sub groups after they see what effects they have on the Matrix itself.

A bit more info on the economy:   "information" is one of 2 things, secrets to the whole Matrix storyline, and  ability codes, which loosely translates into kickass combat moves and other special abilities.  Coders will be able to make new codes (crafting for you fantasy bums) codes are traded, transferred, sold, made blah blah blah.  It's just about currency, cause who really needs gold in the Matrix?  Some abilities will be extra rare, no there aren't any Neo moves because you can't be Neo.    I won't tell people they should play it but it is worth a try imo.

This game is going to rock! I'm so excited about it! The economy is odd though, but oh well. I trust that it will flow good and everything will fall into place! I'm looking forward to the martial arts! The fight scenes I have seen rock!

Wow, I'll probably pick this game up when it's released...not really my style though, as I'm into the more fantasy side of MMO's then Sci Fi...but I loved the matrix trilogy and the combat sounds cool enough, and I love missions so it sounds like it could work out for me.

excellant post, and it basically summed up all the reasons that I am excited about this game. I think that people will be blown away by the innovations presented in MxO, and that it could change the future of online gaming in general. No matter what, I'll be jacking in.

all i can say to people that are unsure about this game is buy it

i cant say a hell of alot about this game due to nda but this game is much better than i have seen before and ive played em all. though i guess if your into the cyber punk atmosphere then this is a definite pre-order.

    I second that motion...

If you have been misled please download the movie below.  It tells the real story.  This game is amazing.  I myself am in beta; yes it has been a little ruff but what beta isn't? Eve Online & EQII were beta disasters but look at them now.  The only way I can explain how good the game feels is by this video.  The MxO trailer sucks, it does no justice for the excitement you feel when playing.  However, if you are a Dungeons and Dragons loser then I guess this is not the game for you.  Stick to your same old lame wizards and magic junk.  Shall we try something new?  Be careful not to judge beta comments too.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
