How many MMORPGs can you play at once?

CzzarreCzzarre Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 3,742

When deciding what MMORPG to play these days, money isnt always the main issue. These days its about time. I dont have enough time to play all the games I want. Each MMORPG takes time to develope a char and learn the game/enviornment, Gain levels, Gain equipment, obtain a guild, etc. To move to a new game (even a free one) means that one of your current games will need to compensate and your character on that game, and perhaps a guild will lose out on play time.

Whats the most MMORPGs have you been able to play during the same time frame. Do you prefer MMORPG-polygamy or  MMORPG-monogomy.

Got the same problem. As to your question: I can only play one. And it usually takes me several years to switch to a new one, since I first want to fully play a game, all the way to end game and beyond, before ditching it.

Brings me to an observation. I see a lot of people with long, long lists of MMOs they 'played' in their sig. I always wonder how far they actually got in these games. Playing newbie areas, then hop to the next MMO? Even with an insane amount of time, you can't have really played 15+ MMOs in, like what? 10 years TOPS?

Playing: Final Fantasy Online: ARR, Destiny
Most memorable games for me: UO, GW1, LoTRO

I can only play one at a time.  I've played EQ1, EQ2, SWG, & now WoW, but never at the same time.  I barely find the time to play alts in the same game!

"How many MMORPGs can you play at once?"

At least two (2) at the same time, four (4) if your talking about in an evening,  five (5) too six (6) if your talking a weekend or all day and if you can play windowed).

While playing EVE (windowed) I used to play WOW also windowed. EVE gives audable sounds that let you know when anything happens.  During large minning opps it was commen for us to play BF2,  commanding is the easest thing as it does not require you to move so just dig in and scan the two windows (duel screens FTW)!.

Also, while waiting/gathering  for a raid (in WOW, COH, SNW) you can easly run missions/DS areas in EVE.  The after the raid we would switch to a diffrent game such as BF (ok not a MMOG) and run several maps before switching to DR, LOR, WWIIO or COD or CS.  If we have 5-6 hours we can (and often do) jump between 3-4 games.

On an all day game twice a month, (We set up a 8 person lan and the rest log via net) we will play 5- 6 diffrent games and end playing MTG (or start with MTG depending on when the others can log on). and this is my kids, nephues, brothers and friends.

So the answer to your question is, if you are not trying to rush endgame and are just intrested in actually playing then the amount od MMORPGS you can play at the same time is only limited by  the actual amount of time you have to play (well and your pocket book for the subs).

Counting some Beta testing of MMOs then 5 is about my limit.

Usually 2-3 of those have to be games I am established with though.  But I will usually play 2-3 that I ahve higher level characters and 1-2 that I am building a character on and then usually testing 1 as well.

With Free games that goes up even higher though.

For instance right now I have:

My WoW account that I play very casually (started a new character awhile back to play with friends)

EQ2 account / Legends of Norath - Also playing this very casually, usually more LON then EQ2 lately

DAoC - been playing this some more.  I made a druid and have been playing him on gareth.

LOTRO - Although I might have quit for good on this one

Dungeon Runners - Funny game, but only playing super casual

    Hellgate London - Beta

    Mythos - Beta

Pirates of the burning sea - Stress test and hope to get into Beta

    Pirates of the Caribbean Beta.

Tabula Rasa - Beta but don't really play anymore.

Counterstrike - World of Warcraft Deathmatch server, while not a MMO.  I do have a persistant character on the server and you need to log in and play at least once per week to keep your character from being deleted.  My guy is like 260 now so I want to keep him around.

On top of all those games I also have been watching a ton of TV shows this season

Sunday - Church in the morning and Football at night.  If the game is bad I might play some MMOs if not then I don't get any play time in.

Monday - Chuck, Heroes, Journeyman, Daily show, Colbert Report, Or monday night football, then play for an hour or 2

Tuesday - Bones, House, SVU, Daily Show, Colbert Report, then play

Wednesday - Church dinner, Bionic Woman, Then I usually play

Thursday - Piano Lessons for my daughter, Usually watch a family movie with my wife and daughters

Friday - Ghost Wisperer, Moonlight, then might get some play time in

Saturday - Usually try and play on Saturdays or rent a movie.

Actually with my schedule I don't know how I find time to play any games at all lol.  I guess it is because I don't sleep much.

    Currently playing:
LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)

    Looking Foward too:
Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)

Two. Usually one hardcore, one casual. Currently I'm playing WoW and CoH - when the item-centric grind of WoW starts to get on my nerves, or I just don't feel like a four-hour gaming session, I play 30 minutes or an hour of CoH.

My guilds will survive without me. None of them require that I log in every day, or put in a certain number of hours.

I only subscribe to one at a time, but if more games start coming out with Lifetime memberships (ala LoTRO), I'll probably collect quite a stable of them. I like having the things available to play, even if I'm not playing them at the time. Go figure. It's not the most fiscally sound way of doing things, but I'd rather just pay upfront when I have the money and then not worry about it again.

I feel guilty paying $15 a month for a video game. So 1 is my limit. Not because I can't afford two but i can't justify the added cost of paying for two. If they were free I could see myself playing more though.

I can usually hop around on 2-3 games rotating from month-to-month on the paid ones, as the mood strikes me on the free ones. Right now it's Mythos, Pirates, Dream of Mirror, and Asada Story at least until Seal comes out. I don't mind mindless korean grinders because they let me clean my head out so to speak after playing anything requiring real thought. Also helps me flush to ill will from reading the forums..

My tight schedule only allows me to concentrate on one MMO at a time.  I play a lot of GW right now and when I want a break I just break out the XBox 360.

    ................................
    My current Guild Wars character:

    Dauthix The Avenger (Paragon/Ranger)

1 MMO at a time. I hate having to spend time split up between developing characters. Thats why I can't just level an alt on the side either, has to be all or none.

1 Mmo. I did have a period when I played fps (css) and mmo (lineage 2) at the same time, but I had a lot of spare time back then. Nowadays I have about 10-12 hours of spare time per week and I have a social life too so that's the reason why I gave up on MMO's at the moment.

Right now I play 3 MMO's on a pretty consistant basis the three being World of Warcraft, RF Online, and LOTRO. I also have Tales of pirates installed, along with Vanguard and the free trial of DDO. I usually log into all of the first three each day though lately its just to check my mail in WoW. I use the others just to break up the monotony. I have characters at the cap in RF Online and WoW, but just started LOTRO. Mid twenties in Vanguard and Tales, level two in the DDO trial ( which if anyone is interested in I am not overly thrilled with). Until a game can really capture me the way old SWG did I am pretty sure I will continue my multi-MMO ways

well i am one of those people with soo many MMOs played in the past and if your a bumb like i am then you put 100hours a week into MMOs. In the last 8 years i have done 15-20 and the lowest i have been in any of them is half way to end game, and most of the time i have more then one char. I can say i have only mastered 4 of them, meaning doing everything i can possibly do.

Well I played 15+ MMOs in less than 10 years.

I would agree with you if all the games were like EQ1, but most of the games are like WoW.

I can level a character to 70 in 1 month and a half in WoW for example, EQ2 it takes 2 months.

It doesn't take that much for an experienced MMO player to reach the end game in many of the latest games.

Exceptions are EQ1, SWG (pre-shit), UO, EVE, to those games I dedicated more time than the "easy" ones.

But trust me you don't have to play 3 MMOs at a time to be able to play 15+ games and reach the end game.

It might help to know that I don't play offline games anymore (except masterpieces like Oblivion and Morrowind), so I do dedicate all my spare time just to play MMOs.

As of current, I am only playing one MMORPG but that may change when Pirates of the Burning Sea comes out. I'm not really sure how it will work out though, I became somewhat of a hardcore gamer, and I enjoy progression. It might start to become a little difficult when two different games come into play.

A few years ago, I did used to pay for two MMO's, but I wasn't too focused into them. I never really cared much about how geared my character was or what level he was, so I never got too far in them since my time was split.

I wonder which is better, A little of a bunch of MMORPGs or a lot of one. Honestly I can see the pros to both ways. I myself am a 1MMORPG at a time guy. I like to do it all.
