So, where will Ryzom players go to

CzzarreCzzarre Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 3,742

I heard the game is going down. I never played the game but I did hear it had a loyal following. With the pending deletion of your characters, what game will Ryzom players now play.

The game is not dead yet.

There is 3 weeks for a buyer to make an offer.

At least one buyer is known : ryzom.org project.

I just wish they could market this game better. I love this game due to the simple fact that the community is the best I have ever seen. Everyone is williing to help you, no matter what guild/clan they are part of. I just wish this game was more aggressive on the PVP side.

They can delete a character into a database, but they cannot delete Gilgameesh from the net

The Burial Grounds seems amazing, but u need to add another Land: Atys.
lets see..

     I want

something with a rich and intricate backstory/Lore.

A beautiful and varied world to explore.

a living ecosystem with creatures that do more than wait for players to come and kill them

    A non class-based skill system.

    no elves, dwarves, or ewoks.

PvP that is optional, and not the focus of the game.

    A friendly helpful community.

A deep crafting system that rewards player knowledge.

no reliance on "phat lewt" to progress in the game.

A game where I can team with my friends, or new acquaintances, or solo, as the mood takes me.

A game where the CSRs are there to help people.

now, where can I find a game like that ??

while Im waiting, Ill be playing windows minesweeper :(

or even with my "enemies", as the mood takes me ;)
Thank you for sharing your opinion with us.
    Now .. Go away.

Quite sad to hear Ryzom is going down.

I tried it several times and was always quite impresed at many aspects of the game, but felt it didn't offer the actual game play i was looking for.

The community and general player base was always one thing that really stood out during my time in Atys.

true, ryzom was an awesome game but it lacked something. It was a beautiful game and i can honestly say i've never played a game where I've just taken time out to watch the wildlife until I played Ryzom!

It will be a sad loss but unless it has a huge make over then it will never be what it could be.

The main thing Ryzom is missing is a healthy playerbase. Perhaps if it was marketed better in the US with free 30 day trial it would attract more attention.

I suspect some will move to EvE Online, another sandbox game, while others will be killing time for Chronicles of Spellborn or other future release.

    Chronicles of Spellborn...perhaps.

Definitely, Chronicles of Spellborn, at least to start.

Although I can imagine that some players who play Ryzom will be attracted to The Chronicles of Spellborn, people should realize it is a very much different game. Certainly not a sandbox game. The only thing the games might have in common is the quality of the community. But, I am afraid there is really no game out there that might replace Ryzom.

I tried Ryzom on 3 different occasions... after reading very positive reviews by it's player base I thought I would give it a try.

The fact is I didn't like it. For all it's hype it didn't "feel" any different to me from any other mmo I've played. In fact for a "Western mmo" it felt very grindy to me.

If it was that much better than other games, they did a really poor job of telling me (the player) what it was.

This is the first time that I've read the "grindy" adjective in reference to Ryzom .... really.

    But maybe this

they did a really poor job of telling me (the player) what it was.

    could be true.

I've found the actual newbies island to be pretty friendly compared to what it was a couple of years ago but certainly this game needed something  different  to appeal the new players.

Some new artwork, voiceovers, a guided tour  (EVE Online comes to mind) ... who knows?

But, in its heart, this game wasn't grindy nor difficult. I think It suited even the casual gamers expectations ... everything was slow-paced and the community was very very helpy and over-protective.

With some further development on this side ot the things this game could be a success of the same size of EVE Online ...

Although I have all but dropped mmorpgs, it would be sad to see SoR die.  It really was the best game available for character development since pre-CU SWG and was even better with it's ability to level everything and create your own actions / skills / etc.  And the community was one of the nicest I had ever been a part of.

Anyone Have good screenshots of Ryzom? Screenies without characters , just the Atys scenery. I wanted to put some together for the website. However, I tried to log on with the trial accounts and that just didnt work out (a lot of lag and download problems at the time, havnt tried since). Gilgamesh was helping out earlier but I could really use some more.

If you have any, please send me a pm.

    Thanks

Here's a <link removed> to my photobucket. I uploaded some high-rez (along with a few low-rez lol) screenshots. If you need anything else, or some character renders (I have media material), let me know.

Where will the Ryzom players go?  I'm afraid they'll join the line with SWG and Horizons players.  Perhaps the UO players will be next?  I hope not.  That would leave EVE as about the only "sandbox" style MMO left.  This is getting very depressing.  We're being forced into the shallow, linear gamestyle and away from the freedom and depth that games like Ryzom provided.  Away from breathing virtual worlds into scripted adventure games.  Too bad.  But join the queue, Ryzomites.  Maybe soon there'll be enough of us standing in line that somebody will decide they can make a bundle off a new "sandbox" MMO.

You know what? You give me an MMO that had avatar options and the level of RP that SWG once had, and I'd easily pay $30, a month, or more. I miss that. I miss having the only Zabrak that looked, exactly, the same way as I did. And just as I was about to subscribe to Ryzom, and I mean the very moment, they shut off the option to. And now I am stuck on the island. I cannot leave, and I cannot level. But, oh well. The mind can be the greatest MMO...*twitches violently at how transparent that lie is*

Well put Xix! Until they descide to make a game for those of us that don't like being lead by the hand, I fear I'll be drifting from MMO  to MMO trying to get that feel back that I lost when I got screwed by SOE during the NGE debacle and the sad second closing Ryzom! And lets hope that next "sandbox" game is Darkfall and all/most of what they promise is there with the rest/more to follow in updates!!!!
