Looking for a game to play

RekovRekov Member Posts: 38

I have been between MMOs for a while, and I thought I'd get people's advice on which games fit my style. I played SWG pre-CU, and I liked its level of complexity and skill based nature. I also like EVE, but I feel like I wouldnt be able to catch up to people.  SO whats a SCI-FI game thats skill based, complex, coming out soon or recently released?

There is an entire board for players looking for new games.

Take a look at what others have looked for and what was suggested to them in those posts.

    Good luck

Actually, EVE Online is your best bet.  Do not worry about the catch-up issue.  It is everything, and it is nothing.  Play for a month and you will understand.

Join the EVE University corp so you can get well trained and grounded in knowledge and tactics.

Play Solo only if you *really* do want to be alone.

unlike most other MMO's you dont have to "Hit 50" or "Catch Bob" to play. You can just get good at your area of expertise and play there.

Eve isnt just linear development like most other games. It goes up one left and then out in 2  or more directions.

For instance, my character started as a Caldari Missle boat guy, then moved to gallente armor tanker. Difference between me and you starting out, I can fly 10+ ships well, you will be able to fly 1 moderately.

In a week or two of training you will be able to fly one ship pretty damn good. With access to a few others decently.

My point is, the longer you play eve simply gives you the ability to play a different variety of ships with a different variety of equipment.

Now my uber battleship might be bigger and meaner than you, but your fast frigate will run circles around me and I wont be able to touch you....granted... you wont be able to kill me either, however, you can keep me in place while a buddy of yours rapes me.

Give it a shot, the game is definitely worth it.

And just to expand a bit, my path is to become the best Frigate Pilot I can.  Before even thinking about moving to larger ships, if I >ever< do.

I have months, and months of work (Play) to go before I expect to be where I want to be in Frigates.  And, you should know that the Frigate is the very first level of Combat ship you acquire.  I currently fly a Rifter and am quite enjoying the learning process, and the gameplay.  Heck just fine-tuning my Missle and Projectile turret and Ammunition loadouts is taking weeks.

Yes, that seems to be a common path.  Get to Cruisers ASAP.  Maybe I am just slow, but I don't think I could learn enough about Frigates in a couple of months to be effective in them.  Heck, could not even get my T1 skills to 4/5 in that amount of time.

Oh well.  Best of luck on finding something worthwhile.
