Hey guys, this is my first post here as i stumbled upon this sight from a wonderful thing called google. So heres what this topic boils down too, im bored, in College and have a boat load of free time when the surf is happening.
I have played FFXI for over two years, until me being an idiot, caused my account to get hacked. That was a sad day when i couldnt get it back. Moving beyond that the game was awesome and so much fun, player co-op was a must i and liked that. You started to see the same people leveling in the same range with you, and met a lot of people that way. Downside was this game took FOREVER to do everything. Months to get to 65, more months to get to 75 of playing almost every day. I really am not a big fan of mindless partying or grinding but it seems like a lot of todays mmos are like that.
Next game i played was wow. I liked it, was really easy to learn and play. Endgame was a breeze compared to ffxi. It seemed most of the player base was younger and really bothered me more then helped.
So here it comes, im looking for a deep mmo, that has its deep parts, but isnt rediclously long to do anything. I loved the aspect of partying and needing to rely on other people. Any of you got a game out their that you would reccomend or one thats coming out soon? If not whats your favorite mmo and why?
Thanks for all the help guys, off to go look for more ideas on this site.
Also im open for any betas either open or closed doesnt matter.
Any online fighting games? Or RTS Games?
Right now im addicted to Warcraft III Frozen Throne, Especially the custom games.(i think those rpg that are player made seem to be better then some haha)
P.S: VEEERY OoT, A long time ago, i think almost 10, there was a online pvp fighting game, and i loved it(really bland i know). Anyone got a good one of those that is not gear based? predominantly skill based?

I am a Genius..... Way to go me for seeing the LFGame forum, if a mod doesnt mind moving this thank you soo much
It really depends on what your looking for/like.
LOTRO is a good game similar to WOW but their adding more content and if you like the LOTR universe you will probably like the game. It has some good skils, isn't that hard to level, and now they have housing. It isn't very in depth but I think its more so than WOW. The fellowships is a good system. It also has a 7 day trial period.
Eve-online is a space ship game very detailed and complicated. It takes real time to train skills so you don't have to be logged on a lot. Also in 6 months if you focus you can be just as talented in a certain area as someone who has been there 1 year. There is a lot to do. It also has a trial period its 14 days.
There are some good upcomming MMOs. Pirates of the burning sea will be coming out in January and is a pirate adventure. If you like pirates take a look at it, so far good reviews.
Connan and Warharmmer are the two biggest upcomming but they are 4 or more months away. Their both interesting and promise a lot however their tight lipped on everything.
If you need anymore info just take a look around. Free trials don't really hurt so you might as well try some of those.
Dont bash yourself, they just made the LFGame board less than a week ago.
IN regards to your question about skill based not equipment based PvP. That can be tough. I liked DAOC since it wasnt equipment based, however Outcome in DAOC was heavily class based at times. I think you should consider giving guild wars a look
Good Luck
Torrential
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)

So thinking more on this topic, ive come to the conclusion that i love big shiny things. I love having all the expensive gear and i love end game big battles, not running instances over and over again, just the boss fights. Anything out there like that? I can say my pvp wants are nonexistant, as i think ive pvped once in wow, and never in ffxi
Eek, you rarely get boss fights without the instance clearing these days!
