EA Mythic has posted the first part of their weekly insights into what they're up to during the Warhammer Online Beta downtime, and what players can expect when the beta returns in December.
Hello everyone,
With all the work we have been up to we wanted to share what we have been working on with you, below is the first update we have shared with the beta community. We think you'll be excited as we are, enjoy!
Waaagh! and well met!
So this begins the first of our weekly updates to the WAR Beta community. This is where we keep all of you up to speed with the changes, enhancements, and additions to WAR during this downtime. Each week will have different information from the various teams. Some of the information we’ll be keeping fairly high level, at least initially, but we will work on giving you insights into what to expect when we re-open in December.
I’ve gone to each of the various teams and asked them to write up a little snippet on something that’s going on in their neck of the woods.
So let’s get this show on the road!
We'll start with something dealing with PQs:
Public Quests have made a great start- but as everyone knows, the devil is in the details. In between now and beta reopening, we are going to focus in on some of the feedback you folks have been giving us. Some balancing work is going to go into Influence gain and XP for public quests. The groundwork for UI enhancements is also going to get done (though it may be after the holidays before you see the final fruits of that labour). Perhaps most importantly of all however, we are going to look at PQ loot. Ever a hot topic, we've noticed! Right now we're working to make sure that the whole loot experience is more satisfying than it currently is. We can't unveil the details right now- as we want to make sure we can deliver before we make you promises- but suffice to say, you should end up with a much better chance at getting what you want.

From what I've heard Warhammer is too much of a WoW mimmick and doesn't borrow enough from DAOC, but just what I hear like all mmo's I'd have to try it before considering buying it too easy to get burned on a bad one otherwise. Given EA's track record of ruining a good thing in general one has to wonder honestly how WAR will turn out.

Please refer to the following link before making idiotic WoW comparisons. God, you people make me sick. The other day I was reading some EQ2 forums, that's Everquest 2 for the ill-informed, and someone actually had the nerve to post a one liner reply saying "Looks like WoW." You Blizzard pukes need to just stay under your Mother's wing, instead of venturing out into the full world of MMORPGs. You are not wanted.

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
What i find with the WAR team is that they have this ability to type a lot of words that don't actually tell us anything...
So they put the beta on hold and they start by changing *something* about the drop rates and *something* about battlefield objectives and finally implimenting the basics re loot... hm. Oh but we got a very short vague paragraph abut another career...
I only like to try before buying on smaller game releases... i'm going to be buying both WAR and AoC unless i get to play the beta of either and find it to be crap
And poster #2 and #3 you're as daft as each other :P The similarity ends at them both having dwaves and orcs in it, but acting as if being compared to WoW something to be insulted over is dumb...
How is any of their information misleading? If it's concerning the hiatus of the beta, they collected the information they needed and so they're developing and changing the systems. What use is having a server up to tell them what they already need to know. They even said so; Don't try to read between the lines, just read THE lines. Oi.
Even as vague as the paragraphs may be, they are actually giving out a bit of info. I didn't know we were gonna be able to destroy stuff in the capital city raids. Maybe my info's out of date, whatever, but they are giving it out anyway. And weekly updates while the beta's closed? I haven't heard of any game that's done that before, and I think it's awesome! Instead of leaving us in the darkness of endless speculation, we will be able to see what they're actually doing, because as vague as that may be, it's better than nothing. Keep it up, I say!
