That's right, erotic art is just for sad guys that live in basements. When do images of the female form become sexy to you? Anime/Manga/Hentai? Comics? Classical? Vintage (Vargas)? Fantasy artists (Boris or Royo)? Maybe you only accept photos? Pixelated or print? Maybe you're immune to the allure of the female form?

Comics falls under the same boat, its very over exaggerated simplistic and not at all sexy.
classical, depends how its drawn, but whats that got to do with games? point out an mmo with good classical art/design, oh wait you cant because there are none.
Fantasy, in mmos no because they are aimed at nerds, in some games yes because they have some style but not in this genre.

edit: Nvm your 38 and posting on a thread about sexy in game characters, that speaks volumes tbh. edit2: one more thing this topic is about armour, armour is not sexy it can look good but it is not designed to look sexy because that would defeat its purpose of protecting the wearer even in fantasy, something that looks pratical is more believable thus more sexy than something that looks unbelievable like a supposed warrioress going into battle in a metal thong.

Edit: btw to the guy a few posts up thanks for actually answering the question, personally i think if fantasy is made to be believable it becomes much better atleast in terms of art, with these armours i think that they would look much better if they didnt look so unbelievable. For instance sun looks like it has nice armour, so why then ruin it by having the torso armour removed, just seems a tacky way of getting sales figures to me and tackyness isnt very sexy.

Classical art, vintage (WWII era pin-ups), fantasy, animated, modern, and since the 80s, digital art, have all been used as mediums to express man's love for the female form. Regardless of your opinion on manga, it has a huge erotic market and the most extreme deviant form hentai, is nothing but sexual. You gave your approval on photography. Have you never seen the art in Playboy or Penthouse?

If I misread you, then I apologize, but you have said nothing since that has convinced me you meant anything other than what I suspected. My initial reply was to your question about what's sexy about game characters. Then you go off on some adolescent attack on my lifestyle and how a 38 year old that finds anything like this attractive must live in a basement. I took offense. Yes that was immature of me. I should have just laughed and shook my head at your attacks.
To answer your question "whats sexy about game characters?" I'll say, there's nothing sexy about them.... if you have to ask. Beauty (and sexy) is in the eye of the beholder. Just don't be an ass and try to make others feel lame because they see something there that they enjoy.

Fine im sorry for insulting you i only did it since your response orginally pissed me off. Anyway, i said nerd inspired fetish not as a way of insulting people but because thats what it is, i never said anyone lives in basements etc like i said they were your words.
I said nerd inspired, since it is a style of art aimed at nerds/geeks etc and i am a geek since im posting on a gaming forum and im on a it course that probably qualifies me as a geek so im hardly going to try and insult my self, and i said its a fetish since its specfically women wearing armour that the style is aimed at. Just like feet are a fetish. I probably should of explained that better before.
Also i made a stupid comment earlier about anime and manga not being art, i recently saw some very good magna and anime/comic book art that change my mind completly so i take that back. Before my opinion was based off of the very simplified styles of anime/magna so i was ignorant to the other stuff so sorry if i insulted anyone on that basis.
Btw just to add, i do think game models can look good same as any art form i just wouldnt choose sexy as the verb to describe it.
edit2: btw the arms on that character model from age of conan look strange i mean to thin, not anatomically correct, plastic/mold type look.

I've played a lot of mmorpgs, and I think this one by far has the most realistic graphics that I have seen. Most of the games I've played spend a lot of detail on the armor and gloss over the actual anatomy of the face or the details of the surroundings. Plus, Lineage 2 has some of the most intricate armor sets I've ever seen that look different on each race.
I don't think characters need big boobs to be sexy in armor. To be honest, I thought a lot of the armor sets looked bad on the dark elves because of the way their breasts were shaped. The whole body looked unproportional. But I'm a girl, so maybe there's a difference there =P

Honestly, I don't find any of them attractive in that in some cases they look nice, but I think they seem to miss an artistic flare that would make these armor sets look great. I do like the Age of Conan armor sets, in that it looks like that despite being a game that is targeted as an M-rated product, they don't go overboard with the T&A factor. I guess I would say I would pick either AoC or the GnH armor sets as the overall best ones in style. The rest remind me too much of the 1980s fantasy novel covers.
AoC have sexiest character because they are well realistic. but armour is more realistic too (which is goodimo), although those recent aoc pics aren't hot imo.
but yeah games linke lineage win sexiest armour because thats not armour thats lingerae!

I don't think the T&A make it lose any "artistic flare", but I can understand how it really wont appeal to some people. but some girls like the sexy stuff, as some guys like musclebound half naked sparta warriors (300). though the only male race that has stuff like that are orcs. if you ask me, I think they should make the game equal for both genders. if you make the females have super sexy lingerie armor, then the guys should too!
though there are a couple of sexy guy armors. like this one dark elf male one, which the leg armor is fishnet stockings and a leather bikini. and alot of the male orc ones are revealing. they should just use the female armor for both genders, how lovely would that be? I bet all the non bot players (5% of the games population) would quit immediatly. since people only play L2 for the graphics and community. unless they're masochists and actually enjoy killing the same monster for 10 hours a day for a month to get one level.

As technology improves allowing for better graphics, these kind of discussions are going to come up more often. My mother is an artist and when I was growing up she always stressed to us kids how important it is to have an open mind. Art is a 'touchy feely' thing and therefore subject to a particular person's taste (just like some people prefer chocolate or vanilla).
Personally 'attractive' armor/clothing/etc sells me a lot on a game since customizing your avatar is a huge part of an MMO. Why do people go on a 4 hour raid at max level? Some armors are sexy..some are cool looking...It's all to show off in the game
(ok I am rambling). Of course I never play females because I prefer the the more extavagant cool looking stuff (ie..amazing wizard garb). However, I will never disparage someone who prefers to wear a metal bikini in the sub arctic...
I make games for a living (I have for over 12 years now) and trust me, a lot of the art you see is not designed by geeky men. There are a lot of female artists in game development. Also sex does sell. You put a beautiful girl in sexy armor on a box or a plainer women covered in realistic armor..the sexy armor pic will get you a lot more 'impulse buys'... Unfortunately that is how the world works..
Art is subjective. So is "sexy" or erotic. A simple sketch or silhouette can be attractive. Everything from hardcore porn photos to abstract blobs of paint can be included as "sexy" art. These tools that spout their derision of digital art are just sad small-minded trolls.
I don't play L2, but the intricate textures and design easily outclasses any other game I've seen. In addition to the so called armor, L2's female models are personally the most attractive. Now they just need to make a game I like with that level of artistic quality.
