I agree completely, I played Metin2 during not so Closed and Open beta and in my own opinion it stinks terribly, the graphics are bad, no one seams to talk or interact like I would expect a community should, the multiple attack is helpful for leveling but annoying in general and the way the camera moves on its own with no way to control it drives me crazy And on a more   note I hope I don't get a warning for trolling after posting this because last time I said something bad about this game the mods came after me.

    Darkness Falls,

Well you stated alot of misinformation in your post so that makes me think you might be trolling.

    1.  Graphics - they aren't bad, in fact they're better than most f2p mmo's out there.  The game supports all resolution settings, I run the game in 1600 x 1200 and it looks good.  Not top notch but at least average to above average, even if you're being critical.

    2.  Community - In my experience the community is great.  I guess this one might be more up to players perception.

    3.  Multiple attack - you can change to single attack so that really is misinformation

    4.  Camera -  the camera can be adjusted constantly.  You can zoom in / zoom out / rotate 360 degrees.  I'm not sure what more you want there.  It has full camera adjustment controls.  Again more misinformation on your part.

In the end if you don't like the game that's fine but please don't post lies.

I have been playing Metin2 since it went to Open Beta.  Overall its a very good game for a free mmorpg.  Graphics are not state of the art, but they are more than adequate, and lag is not a big problem.  They are still working out bugs, but I have found the GMs to be fairly responsive to requests from the game forums.

Like all mmo's seem to be, it can be a bit of a grind, but there are lots, and lots of quests, and you can even get extra quests as an item drop from mobs.  Guild system still has some bugs, but it works pretty well, and Guild Wars are very cool.  The community has its share of trolls, ksers, dsers, loudmouths, etc.  But overall people are pretty helpful.

Classes are a little out of balance yet, with warriors too strong and mages too weak.  Suras and assassins are sort of in the middle, with the exception of the black magic sura which is ok for pve, but owns in pvp.  Also with some practice, the dagger assassin can be nearly invincible in pvp, but it depends on timing skills in a certain way to magnify damage.

I have enjoyed it so far, and I have not been too bored at any point.  That's my 2 cents.

Oh, and as far as pvp becoming a pot popping contest, pots do not heal instantly, and it is generally understood that pots are not allowed in duels.  You can buy item mall pots which heal instantly, and there are some other items which do so (rice cakes, certain fish), but with the slow(ish) hp recovery from normal pots, you can generally pk an opponent regardless of pots.

    Happy hunting,

    Mr51

I can't say they did much to Ryzom other than changing the CS structure (which was bad for the community). For the most part, it seems like ryzom hasn't changed a bit. They've barely given it two shakes, which is sad considering how well made it was. I almost wish another company had gotten their paws on this one and run with it...

Played (more than a month): SWG, Second Life, Tabula Rasa, Lineage 2, Everquest 2, EvE, MxO, Ryzom.

Tried: WoW, Shadowbane, Anarchy Online, Everquest, WWII Online, Planetside

    Beta: Lotro, Tabula Rasa, WAR.

If you want to give these people a full concept of the game and company, then list both pros AND cons SpikeX, not just all the things you like about it.  Give them some of both sides.

I'll just stick to playing Khan Power and 12 Sky.

  • K.o.v.eK.o.v.e Member Posts: 227

Well pretty much all the pro's were listed so ill do these cons for you guys :P

    CONS:

-Character customization (Everyone does look the same, hairstyles can be purchased in item mall and hair can be dyed but thats it)

Grind (leveling for the most part is slow and there will be some grinding but thats like most mmo's out there especially f2p)

Challenging (this is either a good ro bad thing but upgrading is HARD, you always break items. Drops arent the greatest either you will spend a long time for rare ones)

Someone mentioned graphics but I really think they are great..

Also atm genders are only limited to your class, soo.. Assasins can only be female and so can mages. Sura and warrior can only be male. BUT DONT WORRY SOON THIS WILL CHANGE!

Thats about all I can really think of  right now, but believe me its a great game try it out!

Community sucks imo, had a bunch of idiots constantly opening trade windows trying to pawn some stuff off on me, told them no thx politely and was called a few derogatory names more than once, so gotta disagree there.

100% correct about the camera though, its fully adjustable, don't know what the other poster was thinking.

Dedpool - I don't see how a couple people trying to trade items with you translates to a community full of several thousand people being horrible.  I've had people try to trade items with me and sometimes they just are trying to give me stuff for free.  Also, I don't really think you can call the community bad unless you played to a decent lvl.  The reason being is that noobs are at lower lvls.  You don't base a whole community off of the low lvl player base.  You base it upon the higher lvl more experienced players.  Why?  Well, anyone in a f2p game can log on make an account and play for a couple hours.

    Anywho that's my 2 cents

guess its worth a try. (well either this or 9dragons I'm downloading when I remember)

I'm not basing the entire community or anything like that, just the experiences I've had in a very short amount of time.  My previous post was a bit misleading, but when you just start out, and you are getting messed with right away, it tends to lead to a low opinion and less of a desire to play.  it had nothing to do with giving free items, initially I thought it was the case, until I hit trade and got called an asshole (and worse) and followed around.

I've played to lvl 23 thus far, so I'm still low, but I still haven't seen anything to make me think the community is all good and helpful, I'm sure there are those that are, I've only run into the idiots so far.  I know not everyones bad or out to screw everyone over, but when its all you see through the first several days of playing, it can get to you.

If you had read my other posts, I did say that the game itself was very enjoyable, so I'm not bashing the game, just my experiences thus far.  And it doesn't matter what level someone is, and ass is an ass no matter what, so you saying you base the community on the higher level people i think is inaccurate to an extent, just because someone is level 10-30ish or whatever, doesn't make them any less part of the community.

nomad, if you go to play 9 dragons, then play the UK version.  Its better than the US version.  The US version absolutely sucks in design, lag, community, and gaming activity.

  • SpikeXSpikeX Member UncommonPosts: 76

Deddpool -  Well I hope your experience turns around for you.  If you are in yellow nation and need some help feel free to message me in game.   My character name is Tinx.  I guess what I meant to say is lower lvl players don't really have to feel the reprocussions of their actions.  At higher lvl you have to worry about other guilds and reputation.  For instance if you tick people off you just may get pk'd on sight.  Also, people won't want to party with you.  You won't be able to join a good guild.  There are alot of negatives that players can feel in this game because of being an "ass".  So hopefully as you lvl you will see that begin to change somewhat.  It wasn't my intention to say that low lvls weren't apart of the community itself.  I just think that if you are going to make a generalization about the community it should be based upon the established player base and not someone who has played for a couple of hours.

Also, 9dragons is a fairly dead game.  Most of that player base went to 2moons.

I played the euro/uk or whatever version of Metin 2 in early beta and really enjoyed it alot. Iv heard good things about this version and i also like the sound of the new updates that are coming out soon, introducing new classes etc.

Overall its a solid game, its F2P and definatly worth a try, it can hold its own against alot of the pointless same old same old crap that out now.

The combat system is fantastic, being able to hit in any direction you want gives you a sense of having more control over your characters actions and its more fun hitting like 10 mobs at once rather than the normal generic 1 target at a time system.

So yeah i agree with spike, give it a try. Ill definatly give this version a try soon.

Which nation would you advise playing spike ? i admit iv not had chance to look through all the posts in this thread so i apologise if you have akready abswered this. Could you tell me the popularity of each nation, that would be a great help as i usually play the underdogs as i get a higher sense of achievment from it =].

Thanks alot and good post =D.

    Garrik

I decided on Metin. Seems to be problems though, I mean error messages with '????????' and then being completely unable to close the application. Is the US and UK version any different in this? I downloaded the Uk one.

  • SpikeXSpikeX Member UncommonPosts: 76

I play US server and I've never gotten the ???????? error.  I have gotten it on other mmo's that I've played though.  I don't have any system problems with the US version at all.  I take that back, on occasion I have gotten frozen while trying to switch zones.  I've also had a few freezes.  They are all simply solved with logging out and logging back in.  However, these issues have been so few that they're really not a concern to me.

As far as nations go.  On the US server Red is the strongest by a long shot.  Yellow and Blue nations are around the same in power.  I of course would recommend Yellow nation since I've had a good experience there.  The only problem I've seen with Yellow is that there are a lack of good strong guilds.  I'm in PaladinS which is unarguably the strongest in yellow.  However, after PaladinS there aren't a whole lot of other strong guilds out there.   There have been a few but alot of them end up getting disbanded.  So in the end I'd say Yellow but again I'm probably biased.

hmm guess I'll try the US version sometime then.

Ok, compared to several other free games (FlyFF, Rappelz, Anarchy, Entropia, Silkroad and many more) the graphics are poorly developed, the community has been argued above, I'll give you that there is an option and camera, has that been added since the open beta because during closed and open beta the camera moved automatically as you moved with absolutely no control by the user, if this is what you mean by 360 rotation your gravely mistaken.

  • SpikeXSpikeX Member UncommonPosts: 76

What I mean is that now CURRENTLY there is 360 degree rotation.  Along with zoom in and out options.  There is full camera control in the game currently.  That point really is unarguable.  Also I can't believe you are putting Flyff's graphics on a higher pedestal than Metin2.  /boggle

    - Quick Update -

Today Metin2 is releasing a patch that will allow players to be able to play all classes as either male or female.  This originally was a downfall of the game as players were pigeon holed to either play male or female depending on the class they picked.  However,  the devs have realized this and now corrected the problem.
