I already trialled the game, i liked it. It was complicated, but I liked it. But I'm not exacly a person who likes monthly subscribtions.

Now I'm asking the EVE players, are the fees worth it, for somebody who hates monthly fees? I already found myself some reasons to buy it;   it runs on linux, I've been looking for something that for a while.   A good economic system, probably the best part of it in my opinion.   The amazing community! A big difference compared to any other MMORPG's, I think most people know what I mean with this.

However... the monthly fees...  the only problem I know of.

Could anyone 'help' me out?

What about that: You can pay for your sub with ingame-money. It will take some time until you are able to afford it, as of course its a bit, but you can pay your sub from your income ingame.

Whether it is worth it is a personal thing. It depends on your financial situation, how much time you will be spending on it, etc.

I played the 14 day trial but couldnt really aford it. I played several more 14 day trials cos I loved it so much.

Now im at uni with lots of time on my hands and I seriously plan to reactivate my most successful trial and subscribe.. That will be after ive finished Crysis.

I see you live in Europe.. you can reduce the cost buy buying Time Codes online from the US. $14.99 is 10.2133 Euros.  I live in the UK so its £7.11525 - half the price!

Exactly! I've been doing this since Eris posted the sticky on the forums saying that it's allowed with CCP. (well, I've paid a couple of times in-between)

i have never payed by subscription except for EVE which I have played for over two years. If you pay in multiple month blocks it works out cheaper and as mentioned you can pay for the subscription with in game credit if you are able to make the credits. I have bought much less stand allone games, also a stand alone game is at best going to keep my interest for a month or two and when you consider a stand allone game often cost as much as 6 months subscription, i definatly think is worth it.

He's not lying. The game will have been up for 5 years in may and including my beta time I will have been playing for 5 and a half, and I got into beta5. The betas before that one had been going on at least 6 months.

He said he started playing in beta, so 6 years is perfectly possible.

Also OP, we're going to see some cool new stuff in Ambulation and way more cool stuf will be added gradualy after walking is initialy introduced.

And the Trinity graphics update will be nice although you mentioned linux - i dont know if the graphics of non DX clients will be improved.

if you are going through experienceing all the MMO eve is defiently one of them you should experience, in the next few month some really exiciting stuff iss happening

apart from being the most unique MMO out there by being only one server to thrive and die on, lost of oaspects of play from playing the market, mining PVP and missions,

i havent paid for any of my account for a few months now and i run 2 of them one is a miner with a exhumer and the other is a hauler and a PVPer for those times when i want to do a bit of yarrrrrrr

  • Acees88Acees88 Member Posts: 132

I´ve been playing eve for 1 year now.

I´ve been trying to find another game that fits my wallet and my personal style.

I´ve been trying Wow, RF, GW, flyff and many other free and pay-to-play games.

But I never felt like going back to the other games, like I felt with eve. IF I stop playing eve for a monthe the next month I want to play it so badly I would get cramps:D

BUt yeah its worth is especially if you live in europe and buy GTC for dollers, Then its totaly worth it!

So I would go for it if I would be you, despite tha pay-to-play option, You will have a great game, social community, friendly players and everything else you want from an MMO game.

So I say go for it.:)

True, i just saved 40% (!!) by simply importing gtc from the USA. Heh.

  • erandurerandur Member Posts: 727

Heh.. forgot to read this thread for a few days.

Just one more question, how much in-game money do i need? I think i saw something on the EVE chat of 400k, that's sound that realistic to me... So how much does it really cost?

You know it, the best way to realize your dreams is waking up and start moving, never lose hope and always keep up.

  • batolemaeusbatolemaeus Member CommonPosts: 2,061

what do you mean by "need"?
To have fun? Or to guy a gtc?

30-day gtcs are around 200M iirc. But i checked that a year ago and that will have changed.

You can have fun with less then 400k. Way less.. ;)

Ask me ingame (batolemaeus), ill send you 1M to get started.. :)

you can pick up 30 day time cards  for about 190 million isk this is really nly gettitiblye if you can do level 4 missions as you can make a good 20-30 mill per mission on a level 4

or you can mine lots make ships like battleships for example a hyperion call battleship that sell for aroundish 200 million and wallah GTC and change XD or you can pay even in uk if you click pay through credit card of whatnot it still only comes up to a tenner a month

the most unique mmo out thtere and you have the potiental to get it for free with a little hard work :)

Shader models 3.0? I'm playing with 2.0 at the moment Are there any big differences?

BTW, I decided to wait a little longer to subscribe to another MMORPG, I don't have enough time to learn how to play games lately, thanks for all your help anyway!

I also played the trial it is an amazing game with a massive amount of playability. Though I must warn you that this game takes patience and perserverence. After my trial play I created a full account but during trial play I managed to break the 1million Skill Point level which from what I hear is quite hard to do. I also accumulated just over 10mil ISK(in game money) which is pretty sweet in only 14 days. I know have 2.5mill Skill points after only 1month and i have 123.4mill ISK (no illegal buying).  So, you can see if you play the game a lot and have the right amount of help u can accumulate cash and skill points quicly enough. ENJOY THE GAME!!!

Don't quote me on this, but I'm fairly sure it only needs 2.0 shaders.  The 3.0 shaders are what they are going to be using for their Trinity upgrade, which will not be a required update to my knowledge.

  • batolemaeusbatolemaeus Member CommonPosts: 2,061

The classic engine only uses Dx7/8 and Shader 2.0.
The new spiffy engine (Trinity 2) will use shader 3.0, or, if you prefer it, look like the old one (unsing shader 2.0)

Personally, I think Eve has one of the best Game worlds available presently in terms of being able to help shape it yourself.

The economy model is very good, and plenty of things to do.

There is a steep learning curve, so if you arent willing to think a bit when learning, you won't enjoy.

I've been playing (and paying) for about 2 years now, and no other MMORPG really comes close.

Someone needs to take UO/SWG/Eve and blend all of the best parts together.
