Just because you don't know the details does NOT mean someone else doesn't know what they are talking about.

And yea, I can hear EA now -  'hey Mythic, your doing such a great job and we think your game is gonna blow WoW away, so instead of releasing it to do so, were gonna spend another massive chunk of money to delay your game so you can really stick it to Blizzard! Just be sure that when people ask why, not to hint that we're so hugely confident, just say that you've missed some target dates and need more time. They won't ever realize the truth!'

Actually believing that swill has fanboi written all over it. If it were the truth, and if the EA restructuring and firings barely touched Mythic, then why won't they tell us that? Why when asked directly will they not give a strait answer? Because it was a bigger shake up then they are confident of letting on.. clearly. In the end, I'm sorry, but dev teams don't shrink the closer you get to launch. They grow dramatically. I'm not trying to say the game isn't gonna eventually launch, or that it is in serious trouble even. Just that shutting down beta for 2 months, your company being restructured, and pushing the game back to as wide open a date as a 6 month window with NO hint of having a target date, and being unwilling to give even a hint as to how all the above has affected your game. It just isn't a good thing, that's all I'm saying. It isn't a good thing.

Well maybe you should go look at what happened to the team makign wow 4months before it was released to 4 months after it was released. Once again you have no clue. YES PEOPLE ARE OFTEN FIRED SOON BEFORE AND AFTER THE RELEASE OF GAMES. Its not even rare it common , however the teasm overall do get larger, JUST AS MYTHIC HAS. IF you didn't know they just took over another floor of the buildign they are in.

OMG fion your wrong agian, i simply can't believe it.

That beign said why can't i eblieve that EA thinks WAr will fight with WoW? This much has been released by EA personal .

    God you're dumb.

By all means take your hate mongering elsewhere as your post is nothing constructive and contains false statements along side out there logic.

First off they did say a specific quarter "we have extended WAR’s development cycle until the 2nd quarter of 2008". Games go by regular quarters NOT fiscal quarters. If they were talking about fiscal quarters then it would have been stated as fiscal. Fiscal is usually used in money related statements not Game development cycles. So expect a April- June launch until they announce otherwise.

Statement about Layoffs from Mark Jacobs- "One of the “popular” topics of discussion regarding EA Mythic this past week has been the subject of layoffs within the studio. While we did let several people go from the Warhammer Online team, the number was *quite* small and their loss had no impact on our development schedule. These layoffs were part of our normal studio operations and a necessary step for EA Mythic to ensure that we have a focused and committed team working on WAR going forward."

Sometimes when things get big to quickly you don't see all the angles. Jobs might overlap, to many chefs in the kitchen, etc. They let people go to make things more productive and at the same time they hired new people in the areas they need them. You have to understand that Mythic went from a studio with limited resources to a HUGE studio with tons of funds.  Re-organization was going to happen.

Oh and yes studios swell and shrink as needed. Think of a Game release like Christmas. They hire tons of people to get ready for Xmas then as soon as Xmas hits they can go back to a regular staff and hire as needed. Mythic is getting bigger there is no doubt about that, just watch Paul's Videos or read his blog.

I think you need to read up on whats really going on or go back to your AoC forum Fion. Just don't come in here spewing nonsense about topics you obviously have no idea about nor do you care about.

Yea i agree with what you said Rhoklaw but honestly all this talk about 'this and this game will kill WoW' is garbage. No game can and ever will kill WoW. It's nearly impossible. The way I see it is there is only two ways to potentially kill WoW. 1. Blizzard does something incredibly stupid and absolutely destroys their masterpeice, or 2. It becomes outdated and boring. I think that WAR will take a fair portion of WoW's subs, but obviously it won't kill it, people who think that are just being ignorant. I can see 1,2 maybe even 3 million people playing WAR, but 9+ is highly unlikely.

But hey, is probably better if the hardcore PvE raiders didn't come anyways, they might end up forcing Mythic to do things they shouldn't be doing

I'm hoping that WAR will be the best MMOG that ive ever experienced i do think that WoW will feel WARS release but as you say i dont think Bizz is gonner lose much sleep he has made a great deal of money and will carry on making a great deal more simply because he had produced a master piece, I'm sure WAR will follow on as being one of the all time greats. There was for me not enough PvP attraction in WoW for me this is why im praying that WAR will hold its appeal for long time PvP action.  "waaaaaaaagggg"

Well, since EB Games/Gamestop list it releasing in June 2008 (and so far, wtih the games I have actually cared about, they are correct), that give me 6 months or so to get into the best shape of my life....

cause when this is released, I will be indoors for weeks!

LoL, if this game is still as good at release as what i have heard from a couple of beta testers, i will also be doing the same thing. Wont be going outside at all for weeks (if not months).

Yes WoW will lose alot of its player base, some will return to it, others wont, some will leave to take a look, some will stay and some will go. But i doubt WoW will really suffer much, what will suffer will probably be EQ1+2, Daoc-(on whats left of their player base), deffo Vanguard, and a few others out there too.

Daoc was (and still is) the one to beat for PvP in an mmo, however i have not played the game for several yrs but did take up a comeback offer, unfortunaly the graphics were just not appeasing to me at all (completly dated) and thus i didnt last long when i took up the 14 day comeback trial (infact lasted less than 2hrs). But the PvP was the best, just not good enough to fork out a monthly subscription for.

WoW, well, talk about blizard U-turns. Whats the actuall differance from PvP servers and PvE servers there? PvP servers = grief playing, PvE = PvP if you like, if not turn the feature off. You have BG's, origianlly brought in to keep the PvE server players happy, quickly taken in to fully do the PvP server players (was only ment to be PvE servers till they brought something better for pvp servers). Too much work i think, much like yes we will be bringing out joint US/EU servers eventually, then 6-8mths later no we wont be doing that now. Game is ok, only decent thing out there to play as an mmo at this present time so just passing my time there for now.

EQ2, don't know, hard to say, Would have passed on it if not for all of my RL m8's getting it and talking me into giving SoE another chance.  The players their say that their community is tops, it isnt. You dont really get any groups there when starting out (tried 5 servers, some of which no longer exist anymore) over 2 accounts and even though now you could solo play the game, it was 2yrs late in doing so. Aint gonna buy any other expansions either, because i havent 100% like the company from the start, ever since my EQ1 episode with them.

EQ1 - Least said the better, if you wanna know, do a search here as i already posted why i hate the customer relations with SoE. Is why i never got SWG and did well boycotting that (only 1 friend bought it and tried to get me and a couple of others to go, i successfully got the others not to bother with it too so he was there on his tod).

Vanguard - LOL wasnt ment to be SoE complete involvement, this told they had complete control on this after just a couple of weeks (why did i pay for a 2nd month i would never know) maybe because the game had something, but the bugs it had soon killed that. I should have waited, but needed something, something to play that was new. A bad decision here, and again SoE fully involved.

Now for Pirates of teh Burning Sea, a game i was waiting for but have hardly read up on it over these past few months, ever since SoE became involved. I am sorry, but were SoE are concerned they either have total control or they have nothing, they will not go with a percentage. If they did they would push the other company into doing mistakes and then buy them out killing the other company, thats how they work. Right now the thought of PotBs and something new really appeals to me, but then my gut instinct is warning me to leave it (SoE). I'll wait for an open beta stage to take a look, if it hooks me ok, if not i will pass on it. I will not be pre-ordering this for at least 2-3 months or more after release (if ever) if there is no open beta phase. I just dont trust that certain comapany anymore.

WaR, will be the next game i do however pre-order, as all teh signs are there that this is going to be the next big mmo. I havent read much on AoC, seen a couple of in game movies and they were jerky animations (probably being fixed since then, who knows) but it didnt help it look appealing.
