Spam is out of control

FarulosonothFarulosonoth Member UncommonPosts: 107
The spam in my mmorpg.com mailbox is absolutley out of control. I can clear it out and in 2-3 days, the mailbox is over its size limit. Can nothing be done about this?

333 New spam messages to delete!  Gratz me!  And thats in just over a week from the last time I cleared it out.

Oh, also thank you for deleting the other post spam post. Didn't you like my linking what my inbox looked like? Surely if I can get these disgusting e-mails, anyone else who signed up for an account here can as well. Whats the point in censoring it?

I've been a member at MMORPG.com since 2004 and I have never in my entire life received one spam email in my MMORPG.com mailbox. This leads me to believe that you have used that email address to sign up for things, am I correct? I won't ask for specifics as that is your personal life, however it seems to me that whatever you have used it for has had your email added or sold to multiple mailing lists.

    Same here.

Heh, I didn't even know you could use a board email for anything other than the board. Interesting.

Well, since I have 7 emails from my ISP I don't need anymore anyway, just thought this was interesting.

Yes, I agree. Obviously whatever I signed up for, be it pr0n or evangelical newsletters, has caused this little issue. I have plenty of other email addresses as well, but did use this one from time to time.

My point moreso was, when I brought this up as an issue a year or so ago, I was told that a new spam filter was going into effect and I should see a great improvement. I don't know what kind, if any, spam filter is used here, but it isn't working very well, and I know I am not the only person effected by this.

    Thanks

I for one do not use my email addresses to sign up for porn sites, or for anything like that. I'm married, play a ton of games, and have actual real life hobbies and careers! I am a drummer, artist and animal lover. The fact that my inbox is getting overwhelmed with spam is not connected in any way to me using this email address, or my main email address for the above mentioned.

A staff member comes here and just basically says "i have never recieved those emails..you MUST be using the email address for something else." That's really helpful. I am a little insulted actually. This is why I do not take these forums seriously, EVER.

The long awaited spam-filter is here!

Your Inbox has a new section called the "Unverified Inbox".  All of your current emails have been moved to the Unverified Inbox, but you can move them back to Inbox manually if you want.

At the bottom of your Unverified Inbox is a list of "whitelisted domains"; defaulted on that list is MMORPG.com.  If an email is sent to you from one of the whitelisted domains (I.E. Taera@mmorpg.com) the email will appear in your normal inbox; all emails from non-whitelisted domains will appear in your Unverified Inbox.  To whitelist a domain, simply type the domain name in the lower right textbox and click "add".

This feature has been added to cut down on off-site spam.  Let us know if you have any issues!
