Sartok PvP server resurrection

Hello all,

Once Vanguard gets fully repolished and relaunched I was wondering how many plan on either moving to the PvP server or starting there.

With all the pushbacks on upcoming MMORPGs I am itching to get in on some FFA PvP somewheres, any suggestions?

I remember when the Sullon Zek server in Everquest was released, it was so popular it literally brought back alot of old EQ players simply to participate in a FFA ruleset without the tedious PNP that really got in the way on the other PvP servers. I hope Sartok is like this, except for the Diety server ruleset.

Everyone keeps saying how Sartok has a low population at this time and that there is little to no interest in the server. I would imagine this is due to the fact of the rampant bugs in the game interfering with good PvP battles.

Any insight as to the Sartok server delimma would be appreciated and maybe SOE and some players interested in true FFA PvP can get this server resurrected!

My entire guild quit the PvP server.  Mostly due to the massive hacking, and SOE allowing it to happen.

    Hacking? Could you please elaborate..

What sucks is this game could have been initially released without the major performance issues and prolly have a good subscriber base at this time...

There are a couple of 3rd party programs that allow players to speed run and time warp. There was also a plethora of ability exploits that drove quite a few players away. Performance did play a role, but that's the case with the game across all servers.  It's one thing to die from lag or from a crash or even from being outplayed, but it's entirely different to die at the hands of a cheat (or an entire guild of cheats).

Yeah, I should have said exploiting.  Hacking doesn't really fit.  Speed/unsnare exploits, ability exploits, XP exploits, underground attacks, money duping, botting.  When you met a guild that didn't exploit, it could be some very fun and challenging PvP.  But those were the exception.

A few things that made me quit:

    • Hacking via third party programs - run speed, teleport, etc...
    • No meaningful death penalty. You can kill someone and they will be back in your face 10 seconds later at full strength.
    • Lack of challenging PVP. It seems quite a lot of the population prefers to farm loot, rather than pvping.
    • Infamy means nothing. It should at the least offer PVP specific buffs/abilities.
    • No point to PVP. Capturables towns, halls, dungeons etc would be a good start.

The Introductions of flying mounts only made finding fights more difficult, and raids was the last straw for me - as it would a) Further decrease world PVP and b) Make the PVP item centric.

But even with that said, I did have a great time, <3 FFA.

There are still some good guilds out there....and really..the only hacking is done by a couple guilds..(yes, something should be done)...Of course they deny it like an alcoholic does having a problem.....but....hopefully they will be weeded out soon enough.

There are many guilds that are heavy about anti hack/exploit rules....pvp with those guys are a blast......oh well...you either like it or not....not much middle ground.
