Yet another decline with 2 year wait for an expansion that isn't anything new.
Interesting, I didn't think it was going to be that long.
And of course it won't really be anything innovative (it will have lots of "new" stuff in it to be sure) but why would they consider doing something radically different? They are making money hands over fists now, unless a sudden decline happens don't expect radical changes.

Well, guess new should of been qualified with innovative as they are different and I didn't specify.
It is interesting as they haven't released numbers of subscribers recently. It is also a bit odd that they group the Chinese subscribers with US/UK. When the old numbers were saying that the China The9 WoW numbers were 75% of the numbers WoW was reporting.
None the less they are raking in the cash, and until people realize that it is the same stuff over and over and stop buying it they won't change which is unfortunate.
Is it really going to be a year out? How far in advance was the hype-cycle ramped up prior to TBC?
I seem to recall hearing a podcast or reading a dev article that referenced the first part of '08. Maybe they were discussing beta testing at that point?
You have to imagine that they will want to roll this out as close to the same time as other titles that are set to compete with WoW. I think Blizz is working to try to set something up to perhaps steal some thunder from WAR.
...
What do people want to see in Lich King that they aren't getting? AND... are we certain that the features for Lich King that are currently listed will be ALL of the features that are going to be rolled out? If we're saying that the expansion is 1-2 years out, I'm not so sure Blizz would be willing throw all their cards on the table just yet. When you consider the other MMO's launching, Blizz may be more inclined to keep somethings off of the radar for now.
Expansion will be on its earliest around Q3 2008.. patch 2.4 is comming first with Sunwell.. and blizzard doesnt want to make the same big mistake with naxxramas I guess so the expansion will wait for it..

I bet it will be pushed out the door at the same time, or very close to the releases of AoC or WAR, in order to keep people interested in playing WoW.
Honestly, a smart marketing move.
