Broke My Rule: Digital Downloading EQ 2 RoK

truenorthbgtruenorthbg Member Posts: 1,453

I have never had a problem with digital downloads from SOE.  I had purchased digital downloads of EQ 1 expansions years ago.  However, I had problems not only once but twice with the direct2download web page.

Nevertheless, I have seen a lot of questions raised regarding EQ 2 RoK and how to buy it.  I simply went to everquest2.station.sony.com/buyNow.vm  and clicked on station store in the middle of the page.  It will take you to a secure site.

I bought the Everquest II All-In-One Pack; this includes this base/original game, ALL three adventure packs (people had to buy these separately), and ALL four expansions (including RoK).  Moreoever, if you create a new account, you get 30 days FREE of gametime.

I am patching right now, and it says two hours.  I think that must be wrong because my friend told me last night when he started patching it was at EIGHT hours!

So, if you cannot find it retail --remember:  never shop at Best Buy-- I suggest using the above link.

What, exactly, is wrong with Best Buy? I sure do love to take advantage of that Reward Zone program.  In fact, I have $40 waiting for me! Time to buy a game!

There's nothing wrong with Best Buy.

I have had horrible experiences with Best Buy.  I have purchased games in advanced and when I returned to redeem the full version, I have had problems.  In fact, one time, I had to purchase the entire game and not receive the discount from the pre-order.

I bought a flat-screen TV and when I returned home with it, I found it was cracked.  I brought it back and it was just a hassle.

I have had problems where I have called in advance about a game and on the phone they said it was in, but when I arrived they said they were not "allowed" to sell me it "yet."  Although they just told me over the phone it was in and I could buy it.

The customer service, where I have had to deal with a number of times, have been rude, disrespectful, and unaware of their own policies.

The Geek Squad I have dealt with installing PC parts.  I have had them work on a variety of my systems (never again) in which they never remedied the problems.  I would then bring the same PC with the same problems to a private computer company who was able to fix everything and cheaper.  The Geek Squad people really do not know what it is they are doing.

From customer service to return policies to purchasing broken TVs to getting screwed on pre-orders to arriving when I was told a game was there and being told the game is not there are all reasons why I refuse to shop at Best Buy.
