How much do you pay?
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"

Had enough bad experiences trying to moderate a roleplaying site with the amount of cocky arrogant people there were there er... No thanks and you might want to correct the spelling mistake on your title. Hope that we'll get some decent mods though noticed a large amount of well explained WoW hate posts popping up lately that got locked along with some pro Darkfall ones.
Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.
This is a "gaming industry" web site. That means "free child labor". Who cares whether or not there is Hell after death... lol
I think I will fit moderator position perfectly !
Thanks, fat fingers alert!

well i have been here a while i wonder if i could be...hrm
This is a volunteer position.
Why would I volunteer to work for free? This is a profit company. The admin is making money from all these ads. If I want to volunteer my time, there is a humane society close by.
Oh! Oh! Pick me!
(that was my application (you were supposed to post it here, right?))
Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
Why...a website that pulls in tons of money from these companies to advertise there MMO's offer a volunteer position. This means they are gonna get some snot nosed, little kid to moderate their site instead of a professional. Quit being cheap MMORPG. You guys sure you're not affiliated with SOE? I know I wouldn't moderate these forums with out $$$$.

If you want to get paid you better be willing to do more than sticky a few threads and delete a few posts. It's not like MMORPG.com needs professional public relations people in their moderator positions.Plenty of people are willing to volunteer as a moderator, if you aren't you won't.
Me? I'm far too lazy and opinionated.

Life sucks, buy a helmet.
And ofcourse it's free to run a website like this. Servers, bandwidth and hostings costs alot, so even if they are making money, I'm pretty sure they aren't making enough to pay someone to be a moderator.

You don't know how much profit he is making and neither do I, and I doubt he will tell us, but there is no motivation to volunteer for a profit company because the members here are not disadvantaged. He can afford to pay at least minimum wage or offer some kind of incentive like guaranteed beta spots or free games etc. My time is valuable to me, even when I am doing nothing with it.
Good luck, if you are going to give it a shot.
There, I made the position a bit more attractive

There are alot of motivations to be a moderator in a big MMORPG community if your interested in the development of the games or have any other interest in gaming other than just being a gamer in the gaming world under a random gaming guild. The time you invest will mostly likely pay you in double, IF your interested in what you are doing.

Dang it, if i didnt play the games and work and have 2 kids and a wife i would have voulantrily applied.
playing eq2 and two worlds
wonder why people want to volunteer to be a moderator its not like you put it on your resume and get into the industry for it? I can see volutentering to join a half life mod team that might lead to getting a job at Valve and get paid (jsut read thats how valve finds their talent).
i did the moderator thing beofre it never helped me get a job or anything
I heard the guy who owns this domain just had the foresight to snatch it up as he's been on the internet forever. He used to design or run those lame mid 90's porn sites. The guy lives in Hawaii... so I'm sure he's doing fine.
That depends on what job you want, there are several stories about community people getting jobs as GMs and Community Managers.

I think it would be classic if you became a mod
"If you want a picture of the future, imagine a robot foot stomping on a human face -- forever."
From some experience, I can honestly tell you that being a moderator on this site does have some really fun moments. Also some tedious moments where you'll be deleting a spammer's entire post history. But the zany things that go on behind the scenes... blimey! You just have to be find out for yourself.
Seriously though, I can wholeheartedly recommend it.
i just dont look forward to the possibility of some biased moderator getting on a power trip and deleting everyone's posts without prompt, warning, etc.
is there any sites dedicated to pvp? because i already know this is not going to work for me
We may never well know until his true colors come out! The next thing the mmorpg management team would know, it would be too late for them!
Careful of filtering your new found volunteers then
