    The tag line *should* read:

"the people behind Jumpgate AND the people behind Auto Assault AND the people that owe me $50 for shutting down Auto Assault and not giving refunds for the box"

Scammers!  And I fell for it!  Wont happen again.

    The same logic is for games being successful as your little sig there. A subscription doesn't mean crap unless enough people do it to make the game PROFITABLE. { Mod Edit }

I am real interested in Jumpgate Evolution. I didnt like the original and was never a big fan of EVE. So far the only space MMOG I liked was EnB and wonderful EA shut that down. but from the sounds of it it seems like they are going to be making a very nice space MMOG.

I never liked how ships controlled on Jumpgate. They have huge space stations and established space colonies with tons of different kinds of ships but they can't manage to make a ship with better handling than the Apollo? Hopefully this is changed on Evolution.

NCSoft was running Auto Assault. Not NetDevil.

Where did you heard about that very nice space MMOG? E&B was my very first MMORPG, my very first love. So just curious what news you have.

NetDevil tried very hard to keep AutoAssault running, they tried their best to come up wth a deal with NCSoft, I believe including running the servers themselves and paying for their upkeep but as far as I know NCSoft wouldn't play ball.

I also suspect it was NCSofts fault it was released before it was ready and that the advertising was awful. Even so NetDevil acknowledge that mistakes were made on the game and it is time to move on. With regards to your complaints about wanting a refund that should be directed at NCSoft. (Who incidentally lost something like $10 million on it according to various news sources, which kinda makes your $50 look like a drop in the ocean)

All I'm saying is they wont burn me again, $50 or $100000, why should the consumer pay for crap management decisions?  If your happy throwing away a $50 drop of water thats fine with me, but my $50 is worth more than a drop of water sorry.

Nice to see you completely ignored the point a couple of us made that NetDevil (The people that are developing JumpGate) DIDN'T 'burn' you. NCSoft burnt you, NCSoft published the game, NCSoft took your money, NCSoft cancelled the game, NCSoft didn't refund you. NCSoft have NOTHING to do with Jumpgate, and never have done. NetDevil are publishing it themselves.

Well I liked the old Sim like mechanics,In flying the space ships keeped a lot of people out that were not interested enough to learn real flight mechanics of the game.such as those with short attention spans.

That said,The truth of the matter is,even now were advanced enough to have flight assisted computers so you dont have to micro manage flight. And it would seem that a advanced space race of people would be able to at least have a flight computer to counter the free wheeling effects of 0 gravity at least until serious damage was done to your on board system.then better get use to the old fasion way of patting your head and rubbing your belly at the same time.

Ah,could only hope. But either way I'll give this a fair try.

If you've got a huge engine pointing out the back of your ship no quantity of computing power can magically slow you down quickly without you turning through a full 180 degrees. However, it appears you are getting your wish, to some extent, take a look at the thread here: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/156502

Got to say it does seem to be an interesting, and I absolutely love the idea of being able to switch between the two systems on the fly depending on what I'm doing, the implications on that for pvp are amazing.

Tie the trusters into a sight on your helmet when activated .were ever your head points the nose of your ship will follow, you will still have  natural drift or float and also pull toward high gravity objects, ad thrust to correct and just look were you want to go. slowing down. flip a 180 and add a equal amount of thrust for mass and speed . try not to over stress your ships stucture.see no problems.lol, If you want real life you have to take in debris and radiation, loss of muscle mass and I would need a few more pages to get it all but its just a bloody game mate.

Serious death penalties makes every close call an adrenaline rush, and every minor achievement a major victory. This alternative rule-set should be in all MMORPGs.

A first look at Evolution is available here.

There was also a recent visit by the ND team to Australia where some of the veteran's from Jumpgate got a look at the game.  That article is also at JSR.

I'm interested in learning more about Jumgate Evolution and when I tried to access a "Official" site all I received was a space to sign up for a Beta slot and a view pics.  Although being in Beta would sure answer alot of questions to the games content and mechanics I was hoping somebody could point me in the right direction to find an in depth description (From the Devs and Staff) of what this game is about.

Sure I enjoy reading reviews of what other people liked and didn't like about the game.  But I'm interested in the backstory as well.

Any assistance would be most appreciated.

JumpGate is NOT a point and click like Eve. In game flight mechanics are more flight sim based, allowing you to put your joystick to very good use. In the original, you could use just a mouse and keyboard.. however I wouldn't recommend it..

BTW, I am looking forward to the Dev chat.
