nVidia 8600 GT Overclocked

DirossDiross Member Posts: 179

Anyone have an nVidia 8600 GT Overclocked (from factory)?  How does it run on very demanding games for both DX9 and DX10?

I'm asking because a friend and myself are looking into it's performance versus spending the $$$ for a 8800 GT or GTX.

Eve-Online, EQ2, DnL, SWG (Dead), Guild Wars, Anarchy Online, EQ, DAoC, Planet Side, WoW, LOTR, Tabula Rasa.

I think you and your friend are just better off spending the extra 100$ dollars on the 8800GT since its much better in every way.

If you dont feel like clicking, when compared to 4 other cards, the best one being a 8800GTS(still not as good as a 8800GT),it came in last place in almost every category.

As you can see,it doesnt even come close to matchin the 8800Gts,which again, isnt as good as a 8800Gt.

If you don't have the extra 100 dollars look into a 3850 from ATI. I think bestbuy has them for $160 at their online store. Newegg has them for 180 I think too.

Desktop - AMD 8450 Tri Core, 3 gigs of DDR2 800 RAM, ATI HD 3200 Graphics, Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
Laptop (Dell Latitude E6400) - Intel P8400, 2 GIGs of RAM, Intel X4500, Windows XP Professional

Wow, that's a shock that best buy would have decent prices on any computer stuff, heh.

Check out a compusa if you have one near you, I don't know why, but recently I've seen better vid card prices there than I have online. I don't get it, maybe they're hurting and trying to get customers back, dunno.

    Ditto.

ATI 3850 in that price range; the 8600GT or GTS is not the least competitive. Otherwise buck up for an 8800GT if you can find one.

ok the chart does put the ddr3 version of the 8800 vs the 256 versions of the 8600's, is there any chart showing this same card vs the 512 ddr3 versions of the 8600 which go around for about 200?

i would really like to see how those cards preform compared to the 8800 and if it is worth the 100 $ jump in that senario.

Compusa, i remember 10 years ago my family bought our first PC from them, and they charged us for over 50 PCs, which was eventually sorted out, though they put up a fight for a few months.

still cant believe it, idk if anyone else though has had a bad expirience with them

Both version of the 8600GTS are dogs compared to the ATI 3850 and the 8800GT for price/performance.
