PS2 Crisis

There is an error with PS2's that all of us around the surrey area are getting, and know a few other people who are getting it too. Basically after a year to 2 years.. the playstaions just have a disc read error, and fuck up...

We think its to make sure people get the PS3 when it first comes out at its most expensive.(or to have to get it repaired/replaced to get more cash. I had to do it once already but i was still in guarantee the first time) I was going to buy it any way FFS... but now i have about a year or so without a games consel..

So I wanted any of you out there who had this problem to write your name, and state/county at the bottom, so that i can sorta collate some info on how many this is is happening to and if it is a worldwide thing, or if its only happening in certain area's.

And maybe if enough people respond, i'll send a letter to sony, and some news papers and everyone who had this error might get some sort of compensation. I'm certainly not paying out any kind of money for a Company placed bug. Timered self distruction if you will...

Nice conspiracy theory you should have boughten an extended warrenty eh? Or just taken better care of it, or not bought a lemon. Hell why would you buy PS2 anyways compared to other consoles it lacks

Ive had no problem playing any game on my ps2. Word of advice , take better care of your belongings

ive had my ps2 since the first day of release ( in the uk) and i have had no problem, but lately i have noticed it is taking a lot longer to read my disks, they have no scracthes being as they are new games, i dunno but i have no gurantee if it goes 4 good

lol.

i have in no way treated it badly either i always take good care of my things .

cd lenses are screwed easily, especially console ones

1. you can replace them, jsut buy them from a ps2 mod store

2. avoid paranoia at start, the doubts you have may blind you

yeah, mine done the same and it was said at the time of the ps2 going under after 2 years. and as usualy 2 years on the dot mine went. Anyone to fix it i had to phone up sony and asked for a replacement. Was like 30-40 quid and i could get a already fixed one or your one (which took longer) p.s You will need everything u got with the ps2. arial, power lead, controller. Hope that helped.

Yeah I had mine since the first month of release.... BUt early this year... It started skipping and the motor started making alot of noise.... (There was no disc-read error just other crap going wrong with it)... I managed to Do some surgery on it... clean it up a bit... but sadly... After like 4 months... my PS2 finally went comatose....

I carried it to a repair store but my Mom didn't pick it up in time... And I had to leave to come back to Tallahassee to go back to college... (I'm from the Caribbean)... After maybe 2 weeks... I bought a new PS2... I simply cannot live without it...

And Compared to the other systems... So far... PS2 has More great games to keep me busy... but of late MMORPG's have strayed me...

Well I am glad there are a couple of you with this error, instead of these morons who kept saying "keep better care of your stuff"

The only time i haven't taken care of my ps2 is in the last few days cos it hasn't been working a month at least.

Yeah i had a friend who replaced his for £40 from sony for the error, and a year later his busted again.

Um, just a request that is probably not goinbg to be fuorfilled... can you write your name and county/state at the bottom if you have had this error... as I said I am trying to compile a large list of the people this has happend to.

I had a buddy who was an engineer working for Sony's branch over here, he told me the PS1 was made with low quality parts, he refered to it as the lowest quality piece of equipment Sony had ever made. PS2 however was designed for a wider market and they put much higher quality parts in it. I only have 1 friend who busted his, sam error as you and he fixed it. But for the hell of it. Try putting a nice heavy book or 2 on top of it, then try it. (theres a pressur switch inside the casing on some models that is designed to open in case someone opens ther ps2 to mod it... extra weight on top can tell u if it's the switch).. Most likley and lense or rom issue. but what the hell try it.

Cheers sketch i will give it a go... One of my friends opened his up and cleaned it out.. it worked for 2 weeks and then fucked up and he cleaned it again an it had no effect, still just the errors.

Dude give the guy a break, he has a problem he is trying to get fixed and came here for help. If you don't like it, then don't post. As for your error, I had gotten some disk read errors before, but all I did was crack it open and airdust all the dirt in there. I had a massive build up and it was getting on the lens too. That took care of my problem. I do know that if you are playing some newer DVDs (don't have a list on hand), that the older PS2s will not play them and will come up with the disk error your talking about.
