Narnia Online - An MMO That needs to be made!

burdock2burdock2 Member UncommonPosts: 420

The world of C.S. Lewis! A world that is ripe and ready to become a great MMO! I hope and pray that somebody makes this title!! I think if done correctly, it could be awesome!! Forgetting the Naysayers - what Turbine did with Lord of the Rings is fantastic and it could even be them that should take the reins of Narnia! The other option would be Bioware - they also would do it justice!!

Some of the features could be as follows!

Play as : Human (a son or daughter of Eve)

                Faun

               Centaur

Classes are:   Ranger, Knight, Priest, Rouge, Warrior, Bard, Sorcerer, Witch.

If done correctly, it would be awesome and I for one would play it (perhaps on the Unreal 3.0 engine or updated Turbine Engine)

Any other suggestions for it?

Do we really need another Fantasy/ magic MMo? honestly i think its a good book and a terrible movie .. but the game wouldnt be bad if you weren't talking about it in the middle of the Fantasy MMo age..Heavy Market + obscure title = Market flop

Too many fantasy MMO's out there right now and Narnia would be no different. Narnia would be ripe only for children and young adults and the very few parents/adults that liked Narnia. But quite frankly I was not very impressed with what Narnia had to offer and I seriously doubt any company would bank their investment on something like Narnia unless they were exclusively catering to, again, young adults and children.

Why make another game when we already have all that in all the other MMO? Just to have a different title?

Well, I would gladly take another 50 fantasy games as long as I could find something in them that would give me exactly what I am looking for in a fantasy game. I don't think the problem is that there are too many fantasy games so much as there aren't enough fantasy games that really cover it all and cover it in a satisfying and epic manner.

    Having said that... Narnia MMO?

    No thanks.

I would agree with your post because I do feel that of all the fantasy MMO's out there, none of them really have that "epic" feel to them. But unfortunately, too many companies are busy making mediocre copies of WoW instead of making up their own thing. Do you remember how it was when the battle was just between EQ, DAoC and UO? These games were incredibly different from each other at the time and that was great because it meant diversity in game style. I wish more companies would try to be original.

I agree with the call of too many fantasy based MMORPgs. I happen to like Fantasy based games, but too much of a good thing is a bad thing. I feel there is a real market for good Sci_Fio MMORPG, there just isnt a very good option atm. Eve Online is likely the best currently released. Ive heard people had some issues with TR. I wnoder what ever happened with planetside, I remember that it was so hot for a while then poof, gone..dissappeared.

Nonetheless, A new fantasy MMORPG without significant and unique changeplay aspects is likely to be mediocre at best. We are saturated

I'm all for an MMO whether its sci fi or fantasy or western or what.  But honestly Liscenced IP games tend to Suck Major Wind.  Game Companies should start taking back the wheel and making MMO's based on worlds they build even if the world might be inspired by other worlds.

I just get sick of the lame crap they put out with some fancy name on it like "cough" Star Wars Galaxies or heaven for bed the shitty attempt at a shadowrun that Xbox360 / Vista only users got a hold of.

Down with Liscenced IP's up with Creative Unique worlds!

yes, "Won't somebody PLEASE make a fantasy mmorpg with elves and orcs" are complaints we hear almost daily.

Make the gameplay deep, immersive, and fun, and I don't care what the IP is, or whether it has orcs or a race of rabid chipmunks.  Narnia?  Why not.

YES PLEASE!!! I LOVE NARNIA!! I'm a hardcore MMORPGer and would love to indulge in the world of Naria. I love the idea of the classes too ( the fauns, centaurs, dwarves, humans (sons and daughters of Eve)...as well as maybe the White Witches armies (Minotaurs,Ogres,goblins....). I know it's been done many times already, but I would totally play this if it were made. I know WOW and EQ are similar to Narnia and LOTR, but I think Narnia would have a different flavor than those.

  • ValentinaValentina Member RarePosts: 2,104

I have mixed feelings about this idea, but it could be great if done properly. It would definitely have a different flavor & atmosphere than other MMO's and would have the potential for excellent story-telling for an MMO if done by the right developer.

On the off-chance this is serious... I will be polite.

No, it does not need to be made. Shelve that next to The Last Mimzy, The Golden Compass, Eragon, and The Buttercream Gang MMO ideas.

I would be all for a Narnia based mmo. I love high fantasy mmo's complete with elves and halflings and orcs and whatnot.

The idea of the game being based off of the Narnia books would give it some history and a sense of what belongs in it.

I honestly don't understand some of the utter negativity from some people in response to this thread. If you don't like something, don't play it but don't be a hater over it either.
