Game Population Dying Out?
I was excited to finally pick up the game again. However, I was a bit dissappointed to find that upon returning to the main Dark Elf village, it was completely devoid of life, aside from my mystic and all the NPCs, considering that one of the aspects of MMOs that draw me in is the ability to intereact with the dozens, if not hundreds of other players in a single area. In a way, I kind of felt like the guy from "28 Days Later" when he woke up from his coma. Has the game population been dilluted to the point that there are so few players playing on a given server, or have all the players moved out from the main village?

starter villagede's has been dead since C3 or it's C4, you probly have to solo up to 6x + before you start getting party's but depends on the server tho and no the game isen't dead, just some off the server's has a really low population
You can get parties at any level, just join a good clan that has an academy. Apart from closed beta and early C1 there were never many players in the starter villages, even low level people congregate in Dion and Giran.
In general the population does seem to be dying, slowly.
May I ask what server you started on? I can imagine that Hindemith and Erica are dead in newbie towns nowadays..
I think you need to really take into account what type of game L2 is.
First off, it is a game with a difficult grind, for both money and xp. It is also a pvp game where the majority of pvp takes place closer to level cap.
It has a solid, die hard set of fans/players so there is always some sort of drama going on.
Having said that, it is 3+ years old. There is not a huge spigot of players running to purchase the game. On top of that, this game is about competition, clans and alliances. No one hangs around the new player areas when they are trying to level their mains and perhaps support classes.
This game is about getting out of the new player areas as quickly as possible so that you can start taking part in the larger (and more real and actual) game of Lineage 2.
Now, if you were to make a Kamael, you would see quite a few people in that area as it is new and pretty full of people wanting to take advantage of that new character.
so do not fret the new player areas being light on people. Also, if you got to one of the higher populations servers (Bartz for NA and Teon and Franz for Euro) you will more than likely see a larger amount of new players.
But again... no one wants to stay there for long.

stop mentioning Franz it has way more people who bot then other's, i don't even think they's a pvp clan left on it who care's about botting.
go like this Franz = bot every other server = do what you want
If you are still in Dark Elf Village, use newbie tokens and go to the Kamael village, the update just came so many people are making Kamaels.
