Free VG time for previous players

All VG accounts will be re-activated on December 18th until January 3rd so that any former VG players can come back and try it out for free if they wish. Good news for any old VG players who want to see what state the game is in now.
Try it, play it, hate it or love it, and then come here and post why. You've got nothing to lose but free time.

Promote what you love instead of bashing what you hate.
It would be far better if they came up with a trail for new players soon. There's no chance in hell I'm paying for a game with such a reputation without seeing it first.

Cool!, I'd definately come back to check it out then. Didn't want to re-sub for a month just to see the state of the game.

Thanks for the info,I always said I would go back to try it if they offered some free trial and as I type I am re-instaling the game to my harddrive.
If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

Well I am all set,Even checked the forum and searched for my old guy and he is still there so that was nice,If indeed the game does play alot better now I will sure have some fun with my shammy,He was 1 of the best classes I have played in a mmo just for the pure fun of having alittle bit of everything including the pet,So here is hoping...

I bought this game when it came out, only have a XP2000 system. The game ran okay, around 20fps with sound off. The game sucked so I stopped playing. Then I got a new rig, AMD 3600x2 with an 8600. A lot of people from my guild told me the game is much better and I should come back. So I did, while I was back they merged a few servers so the pop was up, the only problem is the game still sucks.
I remember when this game was in development, I was feed so much BS that I kept asking for more. Then I got into beta and the game was GREAT, for a beta. Then it went live. The game was a lot of fun, for a game that just launched. Then the truth started to hit me, the game isn’t fun. Huge open worlds, tons of races/classes and nothing to do. I once posted on this site I would play this game for free, and I’m not going to. This game could have been but the truth is it isn’t and I don’t think it ever will be.
I’m not going to try to tell you what game is better or what you should play, it’s just this isn’t a good game. It was doomed from the get go and I can’t see it getting better. SoE has other games coming out and I can’t see them sticking with this one for too much longer. Soon it will be pushed to the back with the Matrix and planet side.
That’s just my two cents, I’m not looking to start a fight and I’m sorry if I offended you.
If I wasn't currently running ragged getting all my Christmas stuff done, I'd be downloading this now.
With any luck, I'll be able to give the game another look before Jan. 3rd just to see how things have changed. I'm not expecting to give up my EQ2 or CoH subscriptions, but I'll give Telon another shot if they're giving out free time.
But your post is still alright, because you do not dislike this game due to bugs or poor performance but due to not liking the gameplay and that is very much a matter of taste. This is what I said in another post, I believe that now VG is in a state where you will or will not like it due to gameplay reasons and not due to it being unfinished.
It was great in beta and alot of fun when it went live,But then no fun as it was a huge world with nothing to do.The time I did spend in vanguard a few months back I did find it fun with lots to do and a great world to explore,I can only imagine that because you play WoW so much maybe because this game doesnt lead you like you are on a yellow brick road you didnt enjoy it,I aint no fanboi of this game maybe I am even the opposite but I will give the game another try if they are giveing us some freetime to try it out again,If it is alot more playable with steady and higher FPS alot of the bugs gone,Then I know I will enjoy playing and may even sub again.

Glad i came and checked the VG forum now! Will definately go try this out, i always loved VG but just couldnt settle into it when it felt so rough
One thing though, why the hell didnt they email previous players about this?!?!

And just a few hours ago I paid to have it reactivated, damn, heheh. Oh well, might as well support VG development with my money.

The podcast states "more than 60 days". It does not go into detail whether this is from time of cancellation or end of billing cycle or any other particulars. Unless you can find an official statement anywhere before the 18th, just try to log in and see whether you can or not.
Have they fixed/replaced the weird, unmemorable, new age music in the game? The music drove me away more than any other aspect; none of the tunes were catchy or seemed to have any form. Cannot remember a single tune, unlike in early EQ where the music was memorable and perfect for the fantasy theme.
(I may just have to go back to EQ, dated graphics and all. None of these new games works for me.)
