Please list positive reviews of TR for me. I'm looking for fan sites, general game sites, etc. I would like to read about the positive things the game has to offer.
Also, if you're an altaholoic, can you write a little about the classes and their roles as well as how teams balance out? And along the lines of alts, how many different characters can you have? I read something about cloning and changing your character around and whatnot. I'm still learning about the game, but haven't tried it yet.
Anyone that feels like they have a grasp on the game that feels like writing, I'd love to read it.
Thanks in advance for anyone willing to put forth the effort to talk about the game and also for anyone that can link some favorable reviews.

When you start playing, take your time on choosing a name. Apparently your last name will be the final name you choose. Example: Highplains Drifter ... Warplains Drifter
There are 4 servers.. 2 are West Coast, 1 East Coast and 1 United Kingdom (Pegasus server is pretty much full since its the only East Coast server as well as the UK server)
The game is kinda complexed at first, but take your time and just figure out the moves. You can choose either FPS or traditional MMO keyboard functions. Dont get frustrated, once you hit around level 12+, you will understand the games mechanics.
Explore the first map as much as possible (Wilderness Map). Look around but be careful. Some areas can be pretty tough if your under level 5 still.
Once you get to level 5, you have to choose another class. No need to clone at this point, since level 5 is easy to get to.
Located as many LOGOs on the wilderness map first, this will help you choose special abilities for your character.
These are just a few tips..
Oh yeah, if one zone is too busy, try another wilderness zone (1, 2, 3, 4) similiar to what Guild Wars and City of Heroes got.
Good Luck.. I know you will like... If your into Sci Fi..
I only played the beta, so I can't answer all your questions and I'm sure things have changed, The beta was good and I would buy the game just from playing that. however I have to play WoW for now because of friends (long story ).
Positives are Action all around the AI are always fighting and your job is to jump in and help fight, quest are good and lots of short dungeons that are easy to get groups to do them. The wilderness is lv. 1-10 and the Divide is 10-20 if I remember please don't hold me to that. I only played to lv18 and beta ended but it was fun.
There are negatives such as the action bar is a pain in the butt to use, getting around the terrain is some times aggravating when you cant run up a hill that you think you should and they say that the contant drops after lv. 30 but never got that far.
This game is good at least for me even with the negatives and my plan is to play wow for a little more and then play TR for 6 mo. or so until aoc or Warhammer
Curious why your only looking for positive reviews..... It's kinda like sticking your head in the sand and hoping for the best especially if you are looking for a new game to play. I find good points in both as long as the review is written with some thought and substance. Afterall, anyone writing a review is going to be basing their judgement off of what THEY think is fun or not and everyone is different.
As for your question, there are quite a few reviews out and I think almost all if not all are positive. A staff member here did a review from level 1-20 and there are reviews at places like IGN, Gamespot, TopTen Hammers, Warcry, Wired, and Gamespy to name a few.
He's probably discovered the same thing i have. The majority of the people that post in this and all forums, are the ones with complaints. i guess thats normal just as in RL. The happy people are busy playing the game and trying to glean information and tips from the posts Read my other posts about the game.. basically they say.. if you just go on what people that played Beta and posted in this forum.. you'll never play. The 3 day trial did wonders to change my mind about the game. I hope they continue that for people like yourself that still aren't sure if it's worth it. Have to dip your toes in to know if its right for you.
I want to hear of the greener grass. I'll have plenty of time to find the divots on my own.
Being fully informed about a situation is a double-edged sword. Sometimes you don't want to know the mission is hopeless. Sometimes you just want to go in with guns blazing and ignore the odds.
In the case of a game, often times many of the pitfalls of the game are in the eye of the reviewer and not necessarily something I would consider to be an issue. Having never played TR before, I can't make an educated decision if the reviewers issue would also be something that I would have issue with.
At this stage, and what I've already read, I would much prefer to read something positive from someone who thoroughly enjoys the game so maybe I could go in with that same level of enjoyment, and a little optimism.
I'll hit the standard sites and see if I can find something I guess. I just hate to read too many "too buggy" reviews.
so...
Well I am currently playing the game - at level 27 sapper (specialist) heading for engineer.
I just want to say - polarity guns rock. Expensive - but man hosing those critters down with that stream of fire or ice is great.
I play regularily with two other guys who are playing a commando and a ranger. So the healing falls to me.
I have to say - they die occasionally as I am too busy killing stuff to notice they are about to die. Then when I notice I run around trying to find them.
Base assault/defence missions I find really enjoyable - swarms of enemies attack the capturable bases in 3 waves. Different bases have different features which makes them play differently.
Eg on Palisades - Fort Dew has a high wall, and a single forcefield entrance and a tower. So you can stand on the walls (in cover) shooting the enemy, or calling down carpet bombing etc. If the enemy manages to break in you can do a strategic retreat to the tower and shoot the enemies from the second level. If they take the base, you can sneak out and recapture it.
The other capturable base in Palisades is Krinn - it has two forcefield entrances and both are attacked. So you can successfully hold off the enemy at one entrance, then turn around to find the base swarming with foes from the other entrance. There is a hill overlooking Krinn - so you can sit up there if the enemy has taken the base and snipe.
Hydro base on the divide map has 3 entrances which makes it hard to defend as all 3 entrances are assaulted. However if the base falls you can fallback to the generator area in the middle and use it as a choke point (single access ramp) to hold off your foes. You can also situp on several difference hills and snipe foes in the base.
Action can be fast and furious. Its also possible to die really quickly. Different enemies have different weaknesses and resists. So you do need to carry a few different weapon types - eg Physical, electric, emp.
I am enjoying the game and currently paid subscription until mid-Feb.
What else can I add - its casual friendly (fast travel, low grind, lots of missions) and solo friendly. If you put a lot of hours into gaming you will probably burn through the content and hit lvl 50 inside a month.
As a casual gamer - I play 3 to 4 times a week for 1 to 2 hours and a couple of 3 to 4 hours sessions on the week-end. I am only just onto the 4th map (Plains) and almost to level 28.
Well lets see....
First, you create your character with the limited options available.
Second, you enter the game where your met with two NPC that provide a quick tutorial, one is the basic WASD open this open that go here go there and then talk back to me type of tutorial, the other is a simple bypass which allows you to leave the tutorial with exp and level as if you would have completed it.
Third, now that you have gone thru the tutorial (or bypassed it) you find your self in a small camp full other NPC with missions (quests) you start speaking and obtaining all the missions available at the camp so you begin to run around looking for X, Y and Z
Fourth, Aside from shortly after reading the general chats or new player chats being full of immature people you find your self turning it off, so now your back to your missions running around looking for X, Y and Z while killing mob number 999999.
Fifth, Once you start to complete a few of those missions while going on a killing spree on mob number 999999 you find your self running back and fourth doing the same X, Y and Z and killing the same mob except this time its number 999999.9
Finally, After a few more rounds of looking for X, Y and Z and killing mob number 999999 you find your self out leveling the zone your in and moving towards a different one, except you quickly realize that your doing the samething all over again. Pick up a mission and look for X, Y and Z while killing mob 9999999.1
.....and now you continue to do this in order to attain that next "level" and so you go again and kill mob 999999.9 while looking for that ever elusive X, Y and Z.
....and perhaps you may find a few folks doing the samething so you may group/team up and both continue to do the samething while you both rinse and repeat in different zones or play maps (instances).
.....at some point you start to realize, geeez how many of these mobs do i have to kill and why do i continue to look like i did a few level back?
....Why do i not feel any different after all the "level grinding" effort i put into my character in order to attain Tier X with the abilities A, B and/or C since people a few "levels" below me look the same.
.....Why do i craft?....Why am i still here?
Oh wait, i remember now its a new MMO and i like to go "pew pew".
**Save your self $$ and go read a book youlll enjoy it allot more than this silly "level grind festing" game!

The foundation of any RPG. Levels, items/gold, killing things. I'm conninced that story and plot has nothing to do with it.
