The third part in Blizzard's World of Warcraft advertising campaign, which already features William Shatner and Mr. T, has been released. The latest tv spot stars Verne Troyer as a gnome mage.
Verne Troyer (of Austin Powers 'Mini-me' fame) is master of the arcane in this third and final holiday commercial for World of Warcraft.

Meh. I reckon that Shatner's is still the best, but that might be because I despise gnome mages.
Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...
And it' s because of this unprecedented popularity and advertising that I can go up to 90% of Warcraft players and say "So you ever play Everquest?" and have them respond "What's Everquest?".
I have yet to find a Warcraft player in real life that has even heard of Dark Age of Camelot or Asheron's Call.
I love being an MMORPG Snob.

You're not an MMO snob, you just don't have any friends or know anyone. I play WoW, and I played damn near every MMO since UO. So yes, I know EQ. I hated it, but I know it. And most everyone *I* know who plays WoW played UO, DAoC, AO, EQ, you name it.
Get off your not-so-high horse and move along, cowpoke, nothing to see here.
Honestly, I've played virtually every single major MMO since the genre began (with the exception of Final Fantasy) and countless minor ones (Asian grinders mostly). I can't stand Everquest. I couldn't stand it when it was new, a can't stand it now that it's aged, and I can't stand the snobs who still proclaim that the amateurish piece of shit that "started it all" is some kind of monolithic achievement. In terms of gameplay mechanics, the game was crap. And the same crappy mechanics have been reused to this day.
Yes, World of Warcraft brought a lot of fresh blood to the MMO genre. There is no denying that simply because the community wasn't even close to that large before WoW. However, that is NOT by any stretch of the imagination something that the game should be criticized for. A lot of experienced gamers still stand by the game 100%... there is a reason for that.
How do you kill that which has no life?

Precisely what he said.
I've been playing MMOs since UO. You'd find that there are a hell of a lot of Older Gamers out there who have.
The other thing you have to remember is that WoW made MMORPGs a lot more accessible to the masses, young and old. I know many people who turned their nose up at games in the past, played WoW and said "Hey ... this is REALLY fun!". Anything that can convert "non-gaming snobs" into gamers has to be a pretty powerful medium.
So "perhaps Mr Condescending Director", you ain't that great after all!

Rather then me turning this into "Whose E-PENZ is bigger?" by way of listing all the MMOs I have played, and I have played a lot, I'd like to referrer you too the part of my post that says " 90% ".
And the fact that your STILL playing WOW after you have tried all these other games just goes to show that the large part of MMO players will play just about anything.
When I wrote "I love being an MMORPG Snob" I was saying in a joking manner that I prefer higher quality games. However, if you wish to defend the 7-11 of MMOs far be it from me to stop you. I'm just tired of the ignorant player base this game has created.
EDIT: Before I get flamed by the legions of WoW fan boys who I know must be rushing to defend this game at this very moment...I just wanted to say to the above posters: 1) Learn to take a joke, 2) Your game is not that great and if it hadn't been for good ol' Elf crack YOUR GAME wouldn't have had a model for which to be built upon, and 3) ...ehh, whats the point.. you've already drank of the special "kool-aid" anyway...

For a game that supposedly has 9 mill plus playing they sure keep on promoting this thing like it is brand new. Though, you have to give them credit, they market their games better than anyone else. Probably the #1 reason why they have so many playing this game.
(BTW, Props on the Marty Fledman avatar!)
I guess I miss the exclusiveness that MMOs used to have. Now just about anyone plays MMOs because of WoW. It's lost it's kind of underground gamer feel completely now.
We need more niche games.

I didn't like this commercial as much as the others. Mr T's at least had some comedic value to it.
I don't know why there's so much WoW-bashing going on. Let people play what they want to play... shouldn't affect you at all. I've played most of the big MMOs of the past decade, but that really doesn't mean anything. I don't know why the advertising is even a big deal. Don't you remember the TV ads for your beloved EverQuest years ago? (btw I played and enjoyed EQ)
None of them were funny but makes me wonder why didn't SWG have these kinda adverts with Star Wars characters?

Yea what we need is a game based on a classic great game like say......Elite.Yea and lets set it in space as something different and have a Market to do Elite proud.
And we could call this nich space trading piracy game something simple and catchy like Adam perhaps?
Or what about EvE?

Concerning the news item well i still prefer the Mr T one as that one was pretty funny.
The other 2 just look awkward to me and of course Fake.

lol
Bravo on the new commercial with Verne. Hilarious!
Course it's prolly funnier to those that have played a gnome.
The gnome dance & laugh is classic pimpin.
Can't be denied.
* You'd think some of these other gaming companies would get out of the stoneage an into stuff like this *

Props for them showing him doing the gnome pimp dance but Mr T still owns all
