Dungeon Runners

If your a fan of diablo 2, enjoy being able to party or solo, love leveling, fighting  5-10+ mobs at once, finding uber loot, and killing bosses, then Dungeon Runners might be the game for you. Its free.

There is only 3 classes-mage/hunter/warrior.

Level cap is 100

Rich 3D graphics with dozens of instanced dungeons to explore.

Tons of different items-blue/yellow/purple/mythic(rainbow)

The game is simple and straight forward. Level and get loot. My addiction for diablo 2 was because of the loot. Wanting the best duel leech rings and sojs, then wanting Shako and GF,WF, ect. The game seems to draw the gamer with that motivation.

In order to really "play" the game, there is a members fee which allows you to equipt the higher level loot as well as to use the storage(bank), and ingame voice chat. Monthly cost is 5 bucks. I have heard people say they didn't start paying the 5 bucks til they were level 50.

If your interested, check it out here. http://www.dungeonrunners.com/

In my opinion, its a fun game everyone should try. Also they will be adding pvp.

It has nothing that Diablo had. It lacks style, class, proper graphics ( ouch my eyes ) and the difference between unpayed and monthly fee items are so huge, I'ts almost too stupid to even start it without paying.

I was skeptical at first but i gave it a try anyway and to my suprise I did find this game to be fluid and and comically fun...at first.
I was lured in by the cartoony and comedic style of the game..But as i started to level up I got incredibley bored I found there was no point in having classes as you could buy any skill you want and wear any armour you want, which by the way all looks the same unless you want to pay for the extra features.

I could go on on longer but i cant be bothered, all and all I found this game to be shallow, but it is great if your just looking for something to fill the gap untill the new MMO's are released.

Making so much noise you dont know when to listen.

hmm. well, he makes it sound good. the problem is its nowhere near as deep as diablo or even diablo2. (because its free).  its really campy/silly version of a diablo 'style' clickfest/loothunt type game.  ex. of the (trying to be) funny aspects of the game range from one of the male character head choices that looks like snake pliskin from escape from ny,  items with over the top names and graphics - like a giant pizza cutter with a name Giant Cutter of the well rounded beaver,  to npc's with voice overs that parody arnold s, and sean connery.  the graphics resemble  WoW's to some people, meaning they are bright and cartoony.

all of the action takes place in instanced dungeons, usually with 7 levels for each one, plus side dungeons, and a boss encounter instance on the bottom floor.  i think atm there is 7 total of these(?) dungeons, as well as one that is labeled as a lvl 25+ group dungeon.

encounters in the dungeons come in the form of packs of mobs, that sometimes contain a champion or hero level creature.  the encounters in the group level dungeon usally contain several hero and champion mobs along with a good sized hoarde of minions.  which is good, because the named mobs have better/more loot drops.

the instances can all be 'reset' at will, which means you can farm any boss encounter as much as you want until you out -level it. bosses have the best drop and large drop rate. but there is little to no strategy to most of the boss encounters. just bring the right resist buffs or a bunch of healing potions and you will be ok. depends on the class/skills.

encounters scale to your level and group size, up to a certain point when you outlevel the area. so it is possible to solo farm boss encounters all day long. possible, but boring (imo).

although there are technically 3 classes, you can learn any skill from any class as long as you have enough money and are the right level. so you can mix and match as much as you want. initial class choice just sets your starting skills.  so you could roll a mage, but you can hybrid him out to be warrior-mage-ranger that wears plate,  wields a shotgun, and casts fireballs.

like gw for instance, you can only bring a set numer of skills to battle with you.  however, any passive buffs that you want to use, have to go on your skill bar.  my war/mage for instance had an entire skill bar that got taken up by the numerous resist buffs, and passive or self buffs i needed. leaving no room for special attacks. but luckily you can also map skills to the  L/R mouse buttons ala D/d2.

there is a fair amount of skills. some are almost too good, to the point of not needing anything else (ehem shadow lightning), while some are almost pointless. most are somewhere in between.  my ranger is able to down entire groups of mobs not using any special attacks at all. as well as my warrior. so it just comes down to play style.

they just added a taunt like ability last patch so its kinda possible to 'tank' now.

level cap is 100, but after a certain point, you are just running the same dungeons or bosses over and over essentially for no other reason that to get the best loot possible or the coveted 'rainbow' (basically rare/epic loot-top tier for members only)

there is a global world chat channel. but you can turn it off.  they just added ingame voice chat. pvp is coming, but if your not a member, i think you will get stomped. ( freebie items have no resist bonuses, and only one or maybe two stat boosts, while members get an additional 3 teirs of way better loot)  plus, i dont really see how they plan on balancing it. could be ok.

there is no real death penalty except for the group dungeon, where you are weakened for a few minutes.  when you die, you just get sent back to the graveyard in town.  you can then use an obelisk in the town square to go back to where you were.  if you were in a group, you can click on a group members name and choose "go to" and it warps you to that player.

when you get full of loot or need to restock potions, you can use a town portal scroll (like d/d2), then use the obelisk to get back.

    thats pretty much the game..

kinda seems like a cheap game they put together to test out the micro-transaction style of payment plans.

Its like diablo 1/2 without any strategy or skill needed.  Things run way to fast and knock you down so its impossible to do mob control,  your almost always better off sitting there getting wailed on rather than trying to avoid anything, theres very few enemies compared to the room fulls diablo 2 had, and the only test of skill is how many potions you are willing to chug.

Also theres a mad lack of enemy/skill variety, and the only thing they keep adding seem to be coding improvements.

Anyways the monsters arent scary like those in diablo 1 who could take a 3rd of your hp in 1 shot, and there isnt nearly as many as diablo 2 had AND they do less damage and are more predictable than in diablo 2.   Theres not gonna be a group of conviction aura glooms or super speed exploding dolls its always the exact same things over and over.

So what your left with is exactly as its advertised, a newb friendly game with no point other than to grind for gear.

It is the next MMO to try on my list atm.  This is unlikely to happen soon, as I just renew subscribtion to CoV...and Civ IV expansion is coming before the subscribtion ends...

The best case scenario see me trying Dungeon Runners in a little less then 2 months.  The worst case scenario see me gains interest in a competitor instead.

I was surprised at the enthusiasm expressed in the original post. But on the other hand if we all liked the same things the world would be a very dull place indeed.

My personal experience of Dungeon Runners was similar to another's comments here,  I was initially OK with the cartoony graphics and the Npc's impersonations, but by lvl 15 it got dull, dull, dull.

Good for a free hack n slash between serious games, but I deleted it, which kinda says everything about how well it held my interest.

I read that new content and PVP etc etc will make it better, but to be honest it seems I like a plot line in my games, so I wont be uploading it again.

Marks out of 10 for enjoyment and longevity- I'd have to score it very low.

I'm surprised noone mentioned the skills.  That's what killed my interest in the game.  Skills that were supposed to add to dps LESSENED your dps.  Example for fighter:  There is this skill (I forgot the name)  that does like 100-200 divine damage over 3 seconds to your target.  Ok fine and dandy.  Only problem is you can't map it to your mouse.  So you have to stop attacking,  apply divine damage, and resume attacking.   Problem is your auto attack does WAY more dps then this stupid skill (if you have a decent 2hand weapon) so why stop attacking?

Overall it's just a poorly designed F2P game.
