Been converted to this game.
I bought Tabula Rasa (collectors ed) with full intentions of playing that game. But after a week I thought I would try the Lineage 2 trial that came with it.
I have always stayed away from Lineage 2, or any other game that had a big PvP theme. Did not like the thought of leaving a city as a happy level 1-5 guy and being jumped out side the city by a high level chaaracter and mugged for no other reason except "they can". PvP is fine, I do not like to partake in it alot of times, and only when there is reason behind it (Clan issue, guy is being a jerk..ect) not just to go up to people and say "Hey" and thrust my long shinny sword into them.
That being said.. So far I have enjoyed my time playing Lineage 2. In fact I have played it a lot more than I have Tabula. Only once has a guy come up to me and killed me and called me Noob (ouch). Might have to do with the fact the low level area was more or less dead. I have tried a few different servers, they all seem to be the same (in the low level area's) I have not tried the Euro servers yet, they seem to get a lot of traffic (How many people from u.s/Canada play on them anyways?)
I have tried various Characters, Human fighter(lvl 12), DE fighter(lvl11), Elf Mystic(lvl 6), Human Mystic(lvl 8), Orc fighter(lvl 2). I just like to try them all out to see which is my favorite.
I love the graphics of this game (put Tabula to shame BIG TIME). So far I have had fun, even though it has been mostly by myself since the lowbie area's are so dead.
I think I will cancel my Sub to Tabula before the trial runs out and they charge me and will sub to L2. As long as I can avoid being impailed by too many 14 year olds I should have fun heh.

Yes the starter area's are quiet but once you get to level 20 go to Dion ,plenty of people there and the higher you get the more you will see, Giran being the most traffic.I recommend Hindemith or Lionna server they have good helpful peeps there but the Euro ones are more busy.
I'm sure others will come here and give you some advice so anyways welcome and remember its all about the journey and not how fast you can get to the end.

Thanks, I feel the same way with your end statement. I do not really care about getting to the highest level, just like to have fun and work at things, get nice armor and weapons to look at lol. I will try out the servers you suggested. Probably going to head out today to by L2, just a tad curious if the 45 days of freeness it offers can still be added to the 14 I have right now.. 2 months free is not too bad.
Now is I could only figure out why my posts get squished together and not paragraphed (as I do Paragraph to make things easier to read). Might be because I use Safari for these boards because Opera does not work at all for some reason.

but I think the DE Bladedancers and Human Gladiators get Dual passive skills at a certain level,I know I've seen those class's before dual weilding.If you go to the main site and click on the library section you can find a ton of info that's user friendly.I wish I had my home pc so I could give ya a tour but still about 2 months away from being in game mode.

Welcome to the best MMO on the market. If you wat to Dual Wield you can take a Human Fighter and go for Gladiator or you can take a Dark Elf and go for a Bladedancer. Those are the only 2 classes that are true Dual Wielders. The Gladiator is more of a Damage Dealer and the Bladedancer is a Buffer/Damage Dealer. Come and join the Bartz Server and I can help you get started. Just reply with your character name if you decide to join Bartz and I will hit you up when I get online.
Seems that from what I read the Bartz server is the most populated non-Euro server. So I will probably go to that one once I pick up the retail package, either today or tomarrow if I am extra lazy today.
I was sort of hoping there was a Two-hander type for humans, but looking over skills it seems its either shield/weapon or Polarm or Dual-wield depending on what "line" of class. And going against the skills would probably weaken them too much. Ahhh the choices lol.
Still I love this game, looks great, plays great, heck even sounds great.
My advice is join an academy as quick as possible at lvl 20 (make sure it is an active clan) so you won't be as lonely.

Exactly! Go to Bartz (most populated NA server) and as long as the ping is ok wit you, join an academy. There really are quite a lot of people who play this game and you will see that more and more as you get higher lvl. Heck, even Hindemith has quite a few people and we are one of the younger servers. of course we have a rather unique politcal structure as the server tends to dethrone alliances that go beyond the pale with behavior. We also have a lot of drama.
However, I do think a server with the most people would work best for you unless you are very sociable. Good luck to the op and welcome. - S

Well I canceled Tabula, and upgraded my Trial L2. Picked Bartz as my server and the only question was what should my new character be, after trying a few on my trial.. I was leaning towards a DE-Female, (Man have not seen something like that since DOA).. DE-Females must has back problems...Anyways I really wanted a two hander weapon though.. so I thought Human.. but Settled on Orc. Time to go play now. Thanks for the advice.

My Character is Sharel. Orc Fighter. Was using it most of the night last night, untill some pansy Elf came up and killed me (guess did not like us sharing all the wearwolves). So I just made an alt to pass time with in these sort of situations lol. (that one would be Saulea).
You really don't have to worry about getting ganked/PKed unless you are in a clan war. There will always be random PKers but they aren't very common anymore.
