No. You're paying for the name. Whoever designs those computers is either an idiot, or simply preying upon the people who want a high end computer but don't understand what goes into them.
Technically, you are getting $2,000 worth of parts, but the configuration is crap.
You can build a much better pc for much less honestly.
I think they are all hype.

this is an F'in Ripoff. You could build this system for about $1400. You are paying $1300 for the name blackbird...
understanding some people just don't have the time or knowledge to build their own computer with specs similar to that, i'd say it's the average going rate for a system with those specs from one of the "gaming" computer manufacturers.
building your own does save you a lot of money, but it can also lead to a lot of headaches especially for the inexperienced. if you're interested maybe start doing some research on building. read whatever you can get your hands on, and check out some of the parts manufacturers forums to see what other builders have had problems with to avoid making the same mistakes yourself. find out what products work and don't work well together, especially where memory and motherboards are concerned.
all in all, i guess it would depend on whether or not the 500 dollars you save is worth it to you, for the couple of weeks of research, and the day it would take to put it all together (barring there are no issues)
even if you can't build your own don't buy the blackbird, I think they don't even give you a mouse for what you pay for just the comp! I think that alienware and hp have some expensive cases thats why they cost so much

Agreed there. Even having a custom builder put those parts together for you with a good warranty should cost much less than $2700 (which is about £1300?) Very odd choice of components indeed... the Striker is a very costly enthusiast/overclocker's motherboard, and a 900W PSU is overkill even if there were two GTs in SLI, which there aren't. So why the (relatively) slow RAM and basic cooling? I don't know anything about the seller, but I'd look elsewhere.

D.
Are we talking about the motorcycle?
$2000 would be cheap, atleast in Denmark.

Yeah, that is probably the reason.
The blackbird will give you quite some e-peen. But on the other hand, if people knew what you payed for it, you would become quite the fool.

Granted, you can build that pc for probably less than half the cost, AND put better components in it.
The point is though..that pc is a steaming pile for what they charge. YOu can buy a friggin Dell with better stats for about a thousand dollars less?
Honestly...you have to be gullible to pay that kind of money for that POS.
D.
lmao
I love the case the blackbird comes in though. I wish they sold it w/o the rest of the crap
That case is a pile of junk too, really. It just has a bunch of plastic add on crap that will annoy the F$%# out of you after awhile.
Alienware cases are crap too. Just a bunch of gaudy plastic add ons.
The only thing they do is make the PC look kinda flashy so that people who don't know any better think they are high end.
If they really wanted to use a high end case for a high end computer, they would use something like the Zalman ones: ZALMAN FC - ZE1 Black Pure aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Description=zalman+case&x=0&y=0
