I picket up DAoC today, installed the software, got on a server..the game didn't let me choose one..Hmmm. Dang, this game is sweet. I am a total noob at it. I read the book, well rather I speed read it and I feel totally lost as what to do in the game. I want to get up and running as soon as possible making things, crafting, exploring, etc...the Celtic way.
Can anyone provide me with some links, resources, or advice to help me not waste time. I love the game...so far so good.

First off, you cant really do _anything_ until you hit level 5 so you need to just powerlevel until you get there.
for crafting www.daoctradeskills.com was always a good site
Well main thing is to have a fell to the game.
Albion seems to have the most intresting world of the 3 but hiberian have maybe the better classes to some extent.
I would pick a realm you associate with.IE do you like king arthur and knights?go albion.Do you like fairyland and elves.Go hibs.Do you like to look sinster?go midguard.
Crafting i would stir clear of for now.It is very expensive.Very very time consuming and there are a million and one alters that are legenary grand masters out there.
If you like soloing pick a class thats very good at soloing. The best as of when i quit was the necromancer in albion.
First 5 levels go with a breeze.Keep your eye out for quests as there are so many out there. They give experience and some are good fun espically the early ones.
www.warcry.com has a good DAoC site to learn from.

you can learn to play your general character archetype, its a pretty important time to get the basics down before they dump all those spells and skills on you
