can i start second life all over again, from the beginning, with a new avatar/character, in order to take advantage of the 30-day limit on picking money off of money trees? i started this game 7 months ago, but did'nt play it very long, just a couple hours. if yes, how ? thanks.

Yes. Right now you can make as many new Accounts as you wish i think. But as an advice, dont go for the money trees. Its timewasting.

Currently you can make as many avatars as you wish, although you must pay a one-time fee for legal multiple avatars.
Downsides are that you cannot share inventories, although you can share transferrable items. You can also send money between avatars using the PAY function in the avatar PROFILE.
New avatars have access to a lot of great free content, however most of it is non-transfer. Camping and money trees are a time wasting way to earn Lindens (in-game currency). Considering that the cost of 1000 Lindens is about the price of a Happy Meal, I have better uses of my time.
Also, camping was originally a way to attract traffic to an SL location. Location owners used to recieve a stipend based on traffic. This has been discontinued. Currently, traffic is used as a popularity rating system. This is also being discontinued in the near future. Once it is gone, paid camping will also go.

Agree with Rose regarding money trees etc, spend your time learning to build items to sell or perhaps get yourself a bar/club job depending on how much time you have---i find SLexchange best for sales of Items myself but always interested if anyone has more sucess elsewhere
