Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there, 80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters. Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior, and he will bring the others home. -Heraclitus 500BC
It's built for the PS3 with the PC as a after thought i bet and i bet it's more instanced than Guild Wars lol, probably wont require a sub too, just be full of ads like "spies drink coke" lol.
Gamespot:
The Agency itself isn't an MMO per se, but it is a persistent online game that will let you pursue a huge array of espionage missions alongside fellow players.

Sounds like a Hellgate London *flop **cough** flop* with a spy theme. Not that appealing to me at least.
Looks good, lets hope SOE learned something in the past 10 years and launches a working game for once.
I think the genre and type of gameplay they are going for is a good idea. As long as its not "kill 10 spies" trash content, it should be worth looking at.
No fantasy, no grinding, raw gameplay. And yeah, they never said this was going to be a traditional MMORPG, they have been pushing it as an action game not an RPG.

It, based on the movies here, felt more like CoX then Hellgate to me, which if they evolve the idea further isnt a bad thing at all.
I wasnt convinced when SOE annonced this project initally. I now am.
New genre, excellent attention to detail, open and honest dev team...
Did anyone else catch the dev saying, in the first video, about having some features unlockable, like hair color and such? That worries me because, if I remember correctly, this game is supposed to be F2P and have an RMT system, sort of like Dance!. Any remember if that's true?

I haven't watched the videos yet, but yeah I think you're right.
It's based on the RMT model, which means I doubt there will be a good crafting element to The Agency. Unfortunate because I'd love to play a Q type of player in a Bond'esque type of game.
Secondly, I'm choosing to stay away from RMT's for many reasons but mainly because I want a stable monthly fee to any MMO I play. I feel a monthly fee will help to unsure a stable community in an MMO, and that is really what I want most - a good, stable community.
it's supposed to be a bit tongue in cheek, much like "In like Flint" or that classic Bond line from the World is not enough, "I thought Christmas only comes once a year." ( ' ;
Looks awfull and corny. It's cute that SOE forgets to mention this game will have micro-transactions. All the non-MMO players that don't have a clue what company SOE is will buy it without knowing.
Smedley has stated many times he is interested in that model for the future games so it is documented that he supports Micro-transactions.
FreeRealms is coming out and that is more for younger teens and all. That is a micro transaction game.
Obviously I'll see how it works out and go from there. If i have to pay a lot of money (anyhthing more than approx 15 a month) to be competative then for get it. but I'll at least be responsible enough to watch what i spend and keep track :P
No subscription model has been settled on. Microtransactions is simply on the table. Thanks
Games convention, Lz,
"The president of Sony Online Entertainment John Smedley held a talk on "Subscriptions vs Micro-transactions", SOE would fund the title via micro-transactions and a 'velvet-rope policy' where certain area are only available if people pay for access. "
You loose. lol.
I knew it, it's SOE, they kill every game they can get their hands on.
Is there a link to that quote anywhere? If not I don't believe he "looses" just yet. There are multiple video interviews with Hal Milton where he says they have not settled on a form of payment yet.

Thanks for taking the time to link that, but next time get a valid source. Nowhere on that page does it say anything remotely close to SOE deciding on using a free to play system with micro transactions.

Correct. Because they have NOT settled on what the economic model will be for this game. They are certainly weighing their options and I wouldn't expect them to decide on it until at least half way through the process. Not in pre-alpha.

Interesting vids, thanks for the post.

Looks very cool. Lots of great little touches.
And to think there will be some people that wont even consider playing it because its published by SOE.
Their loss. :P

Saw a video of this yesterday, looks awful.
It'l be ridiculously instanced. Games like that may aswel just be a singleplayer game with a multiplayer mode.
Like WoW.

Love the sig..I think this game will be great.. I just hope if you have the station pass, you don't have the pay for the ''Micro Transactionse''
Thanks Impyriel for the sig^^

SoE have yet to release a finished* MMO. Perhaps Agency could be the first?
*as in bug free, no missing content, some end game, stable.

It really reminds me of Dungeons and Dragons Online, except with FPS controls and made for a console not a PC.

This game looks like it's going to kick major butt! I can't believe it's still pre-Alpha. Looks awsome and I am definitely going to buy this one.
