I cant figure this problem out. (Invis cursor)

patheospatheos Member Posts: 1,148

I have been trying off and on for a while now, and i cant figure this out. The cursor is invisible on the main menu, and some times in game. Half life 2 and most shooters are fine because the crosshairs show up fine. Oblivion worked on menus and everything.

I tried The Witcher, CnC3, Crysis, and possibly a few more and the cursor was there, but invisible to me. This is fine with some games but sometimes like in CnC3 you can see how it would be a problem. Especially selecting troops haha.

I have a 8800 GTX, 2GB ram, and a nice rig all together. I got the newest nvidia driver but it didnt help. Any suggestions, or has this happened to you and you fixed it?

Delete you drivers, all of them.

Delete any game that you have found was having this problem.

    Reinstall/download the drivers.

    Reinstall the affected games.

Also just to be sure, you are running Vista correct?

Yeah I am running vista ultimate, 32. I have tried reinstalling the drivers but it didnt work. I also tried the same with the games. This did not fix the problem. Maybe if there are other drivers im not aware of. But i just got the newest one from nvidia.com 169.25

There we can see the typical solution, but here is the (not serious) problem: You deleted your cursor! My suggestion: Reinstall it.

Delete and reinstall the mouse drivers not the video drivers.

Have you checked the mouse settings?

If not then check em and you might find the prob.

Otherwise you might have to download a custom cursor which is not recommended since they are usuelly full with viruses

How would i go about uninstalling and reinstalling mice drivers? I have never had to do that before. Im sure i could find them on my computer, but im not sure what i should get when i install them.

Also just to clarify, my cursor works perfect outside of games. I reread my posts and i guess i forgot to say that. The problem only happens in games. The only games i have purchased are FEAR, Oblivion, and the orange box.

Oblivion worked thank god... but all the others are FPS so once i got ingame it was no big deal (crosshairs worked)

But the menus is where i cant see it. So it takes some finesse to navigate them and its beginning to get very old. The only games that i have been unable to play because of it are demos that i have downloaded.  The Witcher and Crysis didnt work in the menus, and the witcher didnt work in game so i couldnt choose how to level up and such. Or even look at my inv.

Man i never thought this problem would be so hard but i have been stumped for weeks. A thousand thanks to whoever can help me.

Well to reinstall the mice drivers just plug in the mouse into another USB port incase it's a USB mouse otherwise i dont know it might be a bad mouse or something or so is it something wrong with your system...

    Try using Registry mechanic

If all else fails you could do a system restore to a previous setting/date where your PC mouse did work.

I just bought cod4 and CnC. Cod worked fine. CnC still didnt work which is very frustrating.

    Try getting a new mouse.

Otherwise Format the harddrive and Reinstall windows.
