Earth and Beyond for me. That game was alot of fun.

Gods and Heroes, followed it all the way to the end, pretty dissapointing

None cause they all sucked and canceled for good reason, what i find funny is noone even played EnB and it was shutdown cause it made no money. Suddenly once it shuts down then everyones a angry player who loved the game and EA destroid their life but it's like i bet most them people never even had a subscription at that time.

    SWG, as of Nov 05.

  • daelnordaelnor Member UncommonPosts: 1,556

UXO. Although if I remember correctly, it would have bombed if released IMO, they threw away everything that made UO good and tried to be like EQ.

    Probably why it never released.

Do you mean the "patch" that starts out as NEW GAME enhancements?

    UO2 looked promising.

Did the NEW GAME enhancement patch change the name. I dont think it did. As stated you may not like the patch, but its name is still considered SWG. Therefore SWG is not dead. Only the people who hated the patch. Trust me, i hated a few VG patches. Probably nothing like what SWG did, but the game is still called Vanguard, not Game Update #2!

Correction:  considered by you and about ten thousand other folk to be SWG.  But i'll bet my bottom bunyon that about two hundred-odd thousand other people consider it a completely different entity.  Now if you wanna cling to the desperate technicality of a name, then thats your right as a member of a dying breed known as "current SWG players".  I'm gonna hafta go with the VAST majority on this one though, it's not even close to the same game.  Sorry

As for cancelled games, i have three i am currently lamenting-

    3. Trial of Ascention

    2. Darkfall

    1. Ultima Online 2

I would have to say Gods and Heroes for me. They had a semi solid product which was already in testing phases. It was just to buggy, the company to cheap, and the team lost all its focus. To bad none of it was trully apparent till after the close. Also i knew a few of the devs over the net and had talked with them after the fall out. Nothing more to say but goodbye, and good writtens. On another note, i wonder what they will do with that code now that they are no longer a company. Im sure most of you think it was crap, but it had some solid points that could have been worked on more. Probably ended up at the bottom of the trash can. So to that i say, GG!
    SWG is cancelled.

World of Star Wars is on life-support.  10,000 paying customers can't be wrong, can they?

pointless assumptions from angry pre - NGE players =/= true subscriber base.

    SEED

Whats really sad is it showed that if you try something different in a game you will fail.   So we are all going to be stuck with WOW clones forever.

i disagree completely. the failure of seed was a result of the game being a complete piece of bug riddled mess, and not anywhere near complete and ready for release. i don't give a rats ass about a developers funding situation that "makes" them release early, i'm not going to subscribe or purchase something that i can't play just to hopefully feed them some cash so they can get it worked out later on my dime. there is no easier way to kill a game than to release it in an unfunctional form.

Calm down.  Who peed in your cornflakes this morning.

Yes they were forced to release early.  It was the money men that forced them to do this. (As you said)  But I do give a rats ass about that game.

It just seems that anyone who comes out with something different the game does not have a chance, so we are stuck with the crap mmo's we have now.

SO have a nice day while I go out looking for some rats do de-ass.

    EARTH AND BEYOND

I still have my E&B t-shirt, Baseball cap, the soundtrack and the mouse pad. Back in the beta, I started to work for rpgplanet and they gave me LOADS of crap lol...

    SWG

They took the beloved MMO from us and showed us another LOTRO/WoW clone we could play instead.

    Darkfall....

Sorry had to.  ;)   Hopefully not,but I gave up on the game a long time ago. If the game ever gets released I have a feeling it's going to be way behind on the times.

Anyways, as for the actual question...I would have to say Mythica as well, Got to see the game in action at Gen Con...looked very nice.

Yea exept that a month or so before Earth and Beyond was closed down EvE  had a special introduction promotion to E&B members only. And that deal almost doubled EvE's sub number. So a few people DID play E&B.

I almost forgot about D:G, that was definitely a sad one for me... Still E&B was the saddest game closure.

However, calling the NGE a patch is just being deceitful.  It was a total game design overhaul that rebooted the game.  Saying SWG is the same game now as it once was is like saying Tabula Rasa is the same now as when it was first designed as a game with magic, swords and elves.  Both had the name Tabula Rasa.

On topic though I see a couple games I've never heard of.  It sounds like this site needs a graveyard forum for us to mourn.

I know this is a littel off topic, but seriously ..... Amazingly even though a patch was named NGE, its still says SWG. Untill they change the name of the game, its still SWG. And yes i said patch, do you need that definition to? Calling the NGE a patch is what it was. Just because you and prolly 90% of the SWG players didnt like it, doesnt mean SWG is dead. Just because they gave the patch a nice little name called NGE, it didnt change the title of the game. It only changed the way you play it. Hence New Game Experiance. I really should drop this, and im done after this i promise. Im just get a little frustrated when people go around claiming things that are not true. As stated SWG is not dead, just the way you veiw it is.

Bozo's Circus.  I loved that show.  Used to watch it everyday while my mom made me lunch.  I would cry when that ping pong ball would bounce out of that last bucket.  I think it was bugged.....huh?   OOOh...hehe, sorry....yeah E&B it is. LOL
