My Local ebgames marked it down from 49.99 to 9.99 today, it was a 1 day sale on a few games and TR was one of em. At that price, i figured why not...
so probably tomorrow i'll install and see what this is all about, i was part of the beta and wasn't really impressed at the time but i'm not one to judge a product unless it's in it's retail stage.
See you all in game soon!

you will soon realise what a bargain you got and how full of BS most of the troll brigade are.
I'm hoping that it will be the case
installing now
Yup, I purchased it from amazon.com for $25 during their X-mas sale, and I have no doubts about the purchase. $10 would've been a much better deal though.
wow.
Bargain or not, there must be some NCSoft execs and accountants pulling their hair out by the roots when they hear about these box price drops.
Must have hated me then when i worked in game shops.... On a few occasions we were price matching stores and knocking £20-£30 pounds off games inside a week. And yes these were BIG name titles (GTA3, Halo2, GTA:SA, most StarWars games). And not to mention that between my local game stores as well, WoW:BC (collectors) the prices could differ by £20 as well (one was selling at £60 the other was selling at £40) >.>
Of course, its amazing at what length sometimes a store will go to get customers into the shops (sometimes even sell stuff at a loss, in the hope that the customer will buy other stuff that nets them more money).
Hell, nowadays its actually very hard for a game to hold its price here in the UK for more than a week or 2 normally, a month tops.
Of course, if its a permanent price drop then i would be worried. BUT as its after christmas its to be expected... i think a local game store has slashed the price of Guitar Hero 3 by about £30 recently for Christmas Sales (50% discount with Guitar included). Thing is, the game without the controller is the same price... >.>
Yes that went off topic, BUT as the companies buy in the stock at a fee from the game companies (ie 50K units) at one price, its up to them what they choose to sell it on at. They could even sell the game at £80 if they really wanted to (even if it cost them £10 a title). Although to be honest, they probably wouldnt sell a single game then.
The only time a game developer should be worried, is if they have an overstock in the warehouse and they cannot shift them to a retailer... then its dead money to them. If its out the warehouse, then they know they have made at least some money on the game.
True but MMORPGs have an additional layer of concern.. The box sale of a MMORPG is only a fraction of the profits. What MMORPG developers want is subscribers.
If the TR price drop is just due to after Christmas sales then there won't be a problem. If anything it will help TR by bringing in more subscribers with the bargain box price.
If the price drops are due to retailers seeing a lack of sales even after the Christmas rush and retailers are just trying to dump the boxes to make shelf room then there is a problem.
Could be either I suppose but we'll see which it is soon enough. NCSoft has to make a public finance report for their last quarter which will include the revenue from TR.
I walked into EB Games on the 26th and looked around while the lineup was about half a mile long on X360 game sales then I saw TR for $9.99 so I figured what the hell and grabbed it. I beta tested TR and I always said $50 wasn't worth what the game is right now.
On another but slightly funny note, I went into an electronics store (Future Shop) and saw a bunch of SOE titles (that were NOT on sale) with Planetside at $1.95, EQ at $3.95 and the station access (EQ2, SWG, MxO, Planetside) for $9.95. SOE titles are the only MMO games besides TR which was on sale that were at very low prices. It's been said that it's a sign of weakness to the company when the prices plunges to pennies.
I found the limited collectors edition for 39.00 on ebay and i can't wait to get it.
I just picked up a copy there myself... $12 + $8 shipping. Even if it does turn out to be as bad as everyone says, I'll have had a month to see for myself, and I'm only out $20.
Evil will always win, because Good is dumb.
Why? Many MMOs have given away the game for free, or near enough. Believe me, if 1/10th of the people who bought it for $9.99 become long-term subscribers, NCSoft would rather be sending EB games a medal.

I would definitely recommend this game to anyone toying with the idea of buying it. After getting it for $16 I would happily have paid $50 and felt value for money. As a rough comparison - it feels like auto assault but fills all the gaps that made AA hollow. Not sure why people are complaining about $18/month either, Its a high budget MMO competing with WoW, EvE etc all who charge atleast $20/month.

WoW is about $15. Last time I payed 20 bucks a month was with Sony All Access and then I was getting about 4-5 games for that 20 bucks.
