Is the selling of your online game accounts illegale? And how do you do it? I have a couple of games I don't play anymore and I don't think I can trade them in at EB Games. Any thoughts?....
Most games have a little note in their Rules saying you can't sell your account, so depending on the game it's probably illegal.

It is not illegal by government laws...however it might be a private breach of contract between you and the game publisher. This should me somewhere in your EULA (End User License Agreement). Either way don't sell it here Use a site like eBay or IGE for the transaction.

NO, I'm not trying to them here, I just thought you guys would know how to. It seems like a hard thing to do with passwords and credit cards involved and stuff. If anyone has ever done it let me know you worked it out.
Yeah thats what i dont get , the guy pays you and then you send him an email with ur psswrd/acct? is that how it works? and what about selling ingame items how does that work?? he pays you and then you meet him in-game and give it to him???
Also most of the time people wont purchase an account unless it has a magelo account as well. A magelo account is mainly used for EQ characters, but I believe they can be made for other games as well. All a magelo account is, is a exact description of your character its stats and all equipment on that character. Don't know the site, but it shouldn't be to hard to find. PayPal is usually the prefered method of payment for accounts as it provides a secure method of transfering money. You can find a link to them at the playerauction.com website.

not sure on EQ or liniage but I know for certain that selling SWG accounts is a breach of contract...

The developer can't do anything about it except possibly ID your character and ban the account. I would say go ahead and sell them. If something happens to prevent you from doing it, so be it. They aren't going to take legal action against you, and if you aren't going to play anymore, who cares if the account gets banned?
Just remember to remove your credit card info from the account before giving the password to the buyer. Don't want somebody you don't know to get your credit card info, that could be bad news real fast.
I think that any gaming company that tries to prohibit you from selling an account are just retards without a cause.
Only reason I could think of them not wanting it is the whole fact that the new comers will just buy the account and CD from you, which will keep the companies from recieving their oh so large amount that is 50$.
I dont think i've ever heard of a case of an account getting banned for it, and especially not legal action, why they even try to scare people away from selling it is beyond me. Personally I dont care that if SWG had something against selling items/accounts, if I could i'd sue their sorry arse for even tricking me into playing that piece of crap to begin with, they release it of the pretense of a finished, good game. And all it was, was a buggy, piece of crap shallow beta, which they lied to you about.

That's why you cleverly word it that you are not selling your account, but your time invested into it.
