I'll take a WoW clone over any moldy, cobwebbed hardcore crap the dev companies pull out of their asses.
bitter much?
You can sort of understand his frustration tho cant you?
After-all wouldn't it be nice is a couple of really unique and decent non WoW inspired games came out sometime in the future. Sadly tho this hasn't happened.
Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981

It would be nice if people stopped referring to games as WoW inspired, since WoW didn't actually invent any aspect to inspire. Additionally, there are several options for a completely different experience than WoW already out there...and they're normally criticized vehemently for not having systems or options that WoW has.

Seems like the two most popular WoW-related rants these days are 'WoW is dying' and the fact that every MMO ever created is a WoW clone. I've even seen that charge leveled against EVE Online, but I hope to god they were just joking. So, let's design an MMO that is in no way a WoW clone! We'll start off by listing the features we can't use;
No fantasy settings. No multiple races. No multiple classes. No instanced areas. No non-instanced areas. No PVP. No PVE. No in-game chat. No Auction House. No raiding. No loot drops. No tiered gear. No monthly fee. No spells or abilities. No hotbar for above-mentioned spells and abilities. No talent, ability, or skill points. No character progression. No grinding. No quest-givers. No quests.
Okay. Now that we have all that, we take what's left and make a game! Without further ado, I give you, The Non-WoW-Clone-Game!
Nope, that's not a screenshot, that's the full game. Enjoy. The point to all this is that there's a difference between similar themes and outright copyright infringement. There's only one game I'd actually consider a WoW clone, and that's Talisman Online. I'm guessing the only reason the Blizz lawyers haven't brought down thier almighty wrath is that they don't know abbout it.
hey noob, wow didnot created all of does things, he got from other games. mmo noob

sad yeah. yet all anyone can offer as an alternative is a crap skill grinding game with no content and a player base of child like 30 somethings who want to gank each other all day.
I'm going to put my qualifications so people can think what they like.
Ultima Online, Asheron's call, asheron's call 2, everquest 2, star wars galaxies, shadow bane, dark age of camelot, eve online, anarchy online, final fantasy online, world of warcraft, city of villains, irth online, silk road, 9dragons, guild wars (beta), vanguard, pirates of the burning sea (Beta), Arch lord, voyage century, dungeons and dragons (beta), dream lords, lineage 2, rf online, runescape.
All of these games I have played at least a month some going over two years. I have been a player of Morpg's since i was thirteen dating back to ultima online. Yes people, games existed long before WoW. Wow is nothing more then a well put together version of many of its predecessors, heavily I would say from games such as everquest. I do not approve of wow because of what it has done to the market and forced many game producers to try to compete with it and refuse to be "experimental" and try new things or even redue some old ideas such as asheron's call or ultima online.
In honesty I don't think we will ever get anything to really compete with wow. We are eternally stuck with instances, cookie cutter classes and those little annoying newbs who stand in town and beg for money...
Ah well the world of the great Morpg's has come and is going so much for new and innovative.
Now all you WoW lovers bash away... bash away... I'll take you seriously when you've managed to actually involve yourselves in gaming world's other then Blizzard's little mess they made.
(ps i love video games and have no life, please don't use that as an argument because of my long list it won't get us anywhere)
I just want to say thank you. Best thing i have read on here in awhile. Im not sure what was funnier, your original post or everyone coming on to bust on you. Classic.
Thank you. I'll be here all week. Remember to tip your waitresses.
I can create an MMO without any of those things and billions would play!
First each player would need VR goggles to enter "the game world".
Secondly use voice chat since text is out.
Next, since no questing is allowed, we'll keep players busy by putting up "job postings". Through, various "jobs" players can interact and meet with others while at the same time earning money to buy loot.
Since player mounts are obviously a plain rip off of wow mounts, we'll offer our players other means of transports, such as cars for instance.
Players are also able to band together with like minded players and form "clubs".
Player housing is available since wow doesn't include them in their game.
Players may also get married/ have families.
If this sounds like a game for you pls take off the VR goggles and send me 15$ a month, 1 character per account.
Known issues: due to a bug pvp is enabled on all servers!

LOL...I'm glad I read all the way through to the punchline, because I almost hit reply and typed "and the game is called Go Outside"

a lot of the hardcore guys would love that game, and definately play it.
look what it offers:
job
marriage
meeting others
Pretty much stuff theyre unable to get in real life. This would be a best selling hit (although sales numbers dont account for quality, but they do if its a game they like,in which case it proves players dont want WoW clones, although they dont want big sales if loads of noobs from WoW are going to come over, because they all suck and its better to generalise people and stay in your own rut among your own kind.)
