Runescape displays the few things you need to get a sucessful MMO. 1) working client and server 2) constant updates 3) a way to get to the 'interest generates interest' mark.
Runescape pretty much can't fail since it has hit all three on a mark. and excels at the most important one(even if it does lend heavily to the other two) of getting to the 'interest generates interest' mark.
PS: Jagex has pulled a SWG type events a few times in it's history if you talk about PvP.
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
are you talking about the music being down? or the PvP which they took out about 2 and a half months ago....if your talking about the PvP your a little late.

I was only just told about it, and I'm also talking about the removal of being able to trade freely.

You seem like one of the many people who are quick to judge RuneScape, before and after the update. Although these updates did make the game less fun, it's clear that you probably haven't played in a while if you just heard about it. How about you actually try playing the game before you are quick toi judge, i mean reallly. Although the PvP has gotten worse, there are still many skills toi train to a high level and I believe easily over 240 quests to complete.

Why bother? PvP, trading, and grinding is all the activity this game had going for it. They removed trading, and PvP has been nerfed into oblivion... what's left? It's a pure grinding game now, and you're kidding yourself if you think otherwise.

Although Icompletely HATE the updates, I must say. Are not most games grinds? Must one train extremely hard to become good in any game before doing different risks? Do you not have to train hard to become good at a skill in any other games? What I'm saying is, although it is a grind, many other games are as well.

That's certainly no excuse, and it's almost always the case that there is a reason for grinding. This used to be true for Runescape as well, because most players were grinding to become better at PvP or crafting (for trading) but since those are pretty much gone, why bother anymore? Truth is, people are paying to level up skills that have no purpose other than to supply you with the next colored cape.
EDIT: I'd also like to point out that there are NOT 240 quests in the game. There are more than 240 quest POINTs, but due to the stacking of points on the more difficult quests, there are less than half that many actual quests in the game. At last count, there were something like 115 quests.
Guild wars is not a grinding game. and has great pvp.. you also don't see the hatred for the game like you do in these forums. Don't pay for substandard games. Games are meant to be fun.. and Jagex took the fun out of the game. The only people that will be left playing it are those that are mindlessly addicted.. until they play a game that is actually fun.
Jagex will do anything to make a buck, they have the money to add so much more content, all they add stuff for is members
which isnt really a big deal, I've paid for it before- it's like a month of easy mode
but they hire a bunch of whiney boyscouts to police the game, some of them mute unfairly and there isn't really anything you can do about it but take a screenshot and hope they review it..
which they don't because you're not worth any of their time unless you subscribe
in which you're still not worth their time, they just let you whine about it on their forums
They no longer accept screenshots.. so no point in sending them they do not consider them as evidence. We sent in plenty when they made a whip scammer a mod and he was there as a mod scamming whips in faly w2 .. just as he was before but now he had a crown while he did it. he was still a mod and still playing a year and a half later after the screens were sent. So really I do not think they care. They will delete your posts if they do not want the public to be aware of an issue. Even when the posts do not contain anything against the rules. .. yes I do believe it .. got sick of it and left ...
I mean, it was mediocre before, but at least the PvP and trading was interesting... But, now... Hahahahahahahah! ( If you don't know what I'm talking about, go check their recent news articles. )
Rune *shivers* Scape is a joke, no matter what genre gamer you consult and well it is a blight on the MMO society, Dude I agree laugh away cause the only other thing you might do after that stain is cry.

Most games grinds? id say like, 99.9% of them are.

Alot of games will delete posts like that, reminds me of WoW. Give WoW a year or two and it'll turn-out like Runescape. Only the people that have workd "so hard" to get where they are will continue to play WoW and RS.
Runescape was one of the first online games I've played in my life. And now I know why. Haha!
This game is a good start up point to NOT learn how to get SCAMMED since everywhere you go there will always be SCAMMERS who lead you to the pvp area, kill you off, and get your items or trick you into dealing expensive things to some random useless stuff.
In fact, I give my thanks to Runescape for teaching me lessons on how to get away from invading noobs. After all, when I started, I was one too. Apparently, this place is full of them, regardless of how long they've been playing.
So let us all clap for the classic 2D game who has taught us so many lessons we may need in the rest of our gaming life.
98% of the teenage population does or has tried smoking pot. If you're one of the 2% who hasn't, copy & paste
Shut up mike. The game is crap and you know it. Especially, without PvP. If those noobs are constantly herassing Jagex about being killed in the wildy, screw them. They ruined the game even worse than it already was.

you know i would normally agree with you but now your the FumbDuck who is blowing up over a game which he JUDGED correctly Runescape is a joke now get over with it nub. Dont blow up on someone for stating their opinion infact i think that would be what do they call it... Flaming?

Hehe, I wrote that a while ago, yet I still stand by it.
I don't care what game it is, but you have to play before you judge. While RuneScape does have it's [major] flaws, it also had some good points. People should never just bash from an appearance of the game; if they like/hate it after they play it, then that is fine, they are entitiled to their own opinion. If I disagree with someone's opinion, then I will state it, but I wasn't really flaming.

Good points? Explain. Hell I fricken have 40 mil and nothing to do with it. Runescape is all grind. Not worth my time. I quit few months ago. The wilderness was the only thing going for rs.
