Just got the new gameinformer and this game looks amazing!
It's everything people wanted in CoH!
Better customization of costumes!
Equipment with actual visuals that are toggleable!
Base archetypes with access to all skills in game
A entire world explorable not just a city!
Action gameplay similar to marvel ultimate alliance rather then wow!
Great graphics! Cel-shadingish, called "comic shading" by the devs.
Customizable movement, so you can hover, pounce, hunker in to fit your theme!
Crafting from the getgo!
For 360 and PC WITH mixed play between the two.
Plenty more stuff!
Being a big fan of CoH, this is exactly the mmorpg i was looking for! Screw war and aoc! It's all about champions online!

It was in the latest gameinformer, i haven't been able to find screenshots of it online yet, but look for the GI magazine with the alien on the cover!
http://www.gameinformer.com/Magazine/
you can see the cover and at the top of it you can see "champions online"
but thats the only actual detail on the game besides confirmation i can find.
Sounds wonderful.. the archtype power sets in CoH were kinda a crutch imagine if you can totally really customize your character with full customization of powers... it would be super fun.
Does anyone know if this magazine is out at books a million or anything yet?

What makes me wonder is... they had a comic MMO... why not simply revamp COX? Instead they sell it off to make a very similar game? /boggle
Hell if anyone remembers, this is pretty much what City of Heroes was supposed to be anyway.
Excellent, i remember playing this when i came out as tabletop rpg, great game fast game play, make any villan or hero you wanted, can't wait to see how they do this one, good spotting skill OP!
you know what would be kool? a game where there is a tool like photo shop or a 3d modeler to make your characters appearance how ever you want. the problem is if this was in an mmo, people would have to update evreytime they log in lol.
Wow, my video ram will be swapping all the time as I walk pass players. I will keep loading and unloading their "facial and body designs". If I am flying pass them, I will freeze. wohohoh.
To another question, they mailed the mags out already, not sure if they are in stores yet(got mine in the mail today). So yes, i've read about it.
GI even played it, they didn't state their opinions on it. But the way it sounded, it sounded amazing. With things like traps in missions, and voiced cutscenes.

They have screens of the game in the magazine and everything? Cause if i find out your kidding around!-Jive

There really are screens of the game in the magazine, theres quite a few pages of em =P
can someone scan it and post it please. i want to see pictures.
The reason they might have sold the old game is because they wanted to make a new system by making CoH2 but NCSoft may have said no. So they sold the IP and bought a new one.
By the way
*cough*

I wonder how much of that bullshit they will actually accomplish.
As long as they had a better costume creator and a world to play in (instead of a ctiy) then I would play it instead of CoH. I mean it won't be a worse game than CoH and will probably be better.

Just to squash the above rumour early - NCsoft has Lineage, Lineage II and is planning Lineage III. They don't have a problem with sequels :-)
Now, it could be that Cryptic wanted more money than NCsoft was prepared to give for CoH 2, but given that NCsoft is also about to pump more money into CoH/V to keep the content coming, I don't think this is the case either.
My assumption about this is that 1) when Cryptic had MUO, NCsoft wanted to see CoH/V continue with full attention. so they bought CoH/V off Cryptic to take full control of the IP, 2) while this was happening, the MUO project fell apart, leaving Cryptic with a superhero MMO engine with no IP, 3) they went looking for superhero IPs that could potentially replace the Marvel setting and Champions fit the bill.
Rumour has it that Cryptic will self-publish ChampO. Owning the Champions IP also gives Cryptic total control over the project.
It very well could be worse. You really don't know. Having more space to run around with doesn't make it better it just adds more space to run around it.
I'd bet quite a bit of it. CoH was already spectacular and most of the features are things that were in coh, only more involved(as the next gen of mmos should be, not just graphic upgrades)
Maybe.
Maybe not.
I am definitely interested to know more. But this time, I will want the datas in game at release, can't trust them otherwise. :P And I will want strong commitment toward not nerfing the players all the time.
- "If I understand you well, you are telling me until next time. " - Ren
Nerfing is a necessity. Sorry man. And this is coming from someone who mained a regen scrapper in coh.
Because the CoH game engine is very limiting. That's why they still cannot customize powers beyond types of weapons. There's no way for them to allow the user to create black flames by choice for example.
Yeah, City of Nerfs.
It tempers my excitement somewhat.
As far as I can tell this isn't with NCsoft, becuase they started the project with Microsoft and were going to have it as a Marvel game.
Only for whatever reason (most likely because it wasn't good enough for either Marvel, or of a saleable standard for Microsoft), it got canned.
Which will leave them on the open market with a part developed game publicising themselves in an attempt to get a new deal.
I like their games, but they suck at post release managment. Really suck.
Given the nerfs and that they have already been dropped by one publisher with this title, unlike COH, I won't be pre-ordering this time round.
