The only thing I wonder is if our loved ones will taste good. Otherwise I urge every reader to look through this poll to see if they are prepared to survive the coming Apocalypse.

so after reading a bit about this I did some thinking (yeah, yeah...) and I figure if I am going to survive this impending "Zombie Apocalypse" I would need a few specific pieces of gear to do it. Assuming we are all regular citizens and can't get a whole of specialized military gear. (although I have access to a tank, it won't do much good because its parked 20km away on a secured installation which will probably be crawling with undead and lots of armed people who will be more then likely in a paniced state...which has a very limited amount of fuel on board and no ammo which is stored at a separate location...so, not a good idea)
I read that test and it was saying a bike or walking was the better mode of transportation. (because of problems with roads not being clear, fuel concerns, danger of motorcycles) and that got me to think about protective motor cycle wear. Here in Europe you are required to wear a total protective suit and a helm whenever you ride a motorcycle...what better protection that a full body suit made out of leather and Kevlar that is readily available?
Total body protection from a bite at least...I don't think human teeth will be penetrating that.
Then I was looking at weapons...
I was getting all fancy with several specialized weapons but then I started to look at how practical some of them were. I decided to stick with the M-16 (for US areas) mainly because it is common and parts / ammo would not be to difficult to get as opposed to some weapons.
And a 9mm pistol for more or less the same reasons. Its standard military issue and its also standard police issue (at least in the US) making parts and ammo less a concern. (bonus for me because I am an expert with both weapons)
As a weapon of last resort I originally was going to go with hand grenades...but I hated throwing grenades...you gotta duck from the blast, its huge and random and there is no guarantee that its going to kill a Zombie (a head hit) So I went with a crowbar (although a few grenades wouldn't hurt to have) Why a crowbar? Well if you use the blunt side, it more then likely will not get stuck in a head and it also doubles as a tool.
Anyway, what else would you need or what would you use in place of what I chose and why?

Not a bad list, but I think you should stick to more common firearms such as pump action shotguns or deer rifles. You might also want to trade the 9mm for a pistol grip, sawed off double barrel that's more suited to room clearing and quick crowd control. If you're keeping to largely rural areas and open ground you'll be able to see them approaching most of the time which makes a deer rifle with a scope very handy. For close in, you're going to need a bladed weapon such as a hatchet or a machete. Plus you'll always be able to find ammo for those particular weapons. Well... at least in America you'll be able to find ammo. Just about any Wal-Mart, K-Mart, or convenience store outside of most urban areas sells various hunting rounds ranging from .22 to 12 gauge deer shot. It might be different in other parts of the world.
Basically, you'll want this kind of a setup:
I like the idea of thick leather or vinyl too.
You can actually get Kevlar out of car tires, so it shouldn't be too hard to add a little protection to any leather clothes that you have.

You don't want a motorcycle for sure, hell yeah you look cool ...but the chances of you getting mashed on one are high, plus we're talking hordes of "people" in the streets.
As a matter of fact, the bike is the best option.
I'd prefer walking or a RV personally. In the start of the plague supplies will be damn near limitless.
You will need to learn how to turn gas pumps on running on generator electricity. Or manually evacuating the pump into your tank (take a job at a gas station! It could save your life).
Screw single shot ammo. Get street sweeping gear, Sure a rifle is good as is a hand gun but nothing drops 5 "folks" like a street sweeper. (See>:Gun shops)
Everybody and their mother will head to mass stores to stock up. Guess what? So will infected.
2. If one thing is certain remember. There are some REALLY twisted people out there. These guys will probally survive the best, at the expense of survivors and undead alike. See>Zombie Diaries. Remember now you are fighting off both undead and humanity.
3. Get your ass to a isolated region quick. Somewhere infection spreads much slower. Thats home for you now, find it and flee. Desert/forest/jungle just go.
Much of this is naturally in fun, but after talking to countless souls on this subject I know for a fact most of us would head to places like walmart or target for gear, thats alot of souls going after survival based items. (and some Tv's apparently...some of my friends I swear..). People will be afraid, desperate and in total shock from society falling down. That tends to lead to the "Crazy as $^$^&" syndrome.
all i know is that my ex-girlfriend tastes/d good.....if you know what i mean.

soooo, come with me if you want to live. however, if you get injured to the point where your mobility is compromised. you will become a burden. you will have to be killed.
I personally would be happy to wear some sort of Kevlar biker suite and helmet while riding a Bicycle. After all fuel May become a problem and bicycles don't break down easily [just need a puncture rep kit]. Also weapon wise my main one would be a Knife or Axe of some sort mainly because they don't require ammo to use. But this wont prevent me from having a gun of some sort [maybe 2 shotguns bolted together like the one in the Phantasm movies]. As for supplies i agree that large department stores should be at best approached with caution as they could be quite dangerous so id prefer to go for the smaller corner shops at least till I'm fully armed and armoured and after some thorough scouting of a big store.
As to where i would go as a final destination of safety, well the UK has plenty of good roads i can take my bike along with clear views all around so it will be hard for zombies to sneak up on me [unless there was a car pile-up then id just find a way around it]. As for my final destination someplace like the highlands in Scotland or even one of the British Isles [most are uninhabited if a bit cold], whats important is i find a place with a lack of dwellings [villages farmsteads etc].
Then if all goes well after a few weeks traveling by bike to a place that's isolated such as one of the British isles i could just sit down and wait it out with a wind up radio.

I have zombie killing dreams all the time. If my dreams come true, I will not only slaying every zombie I come across, but saving all your butts!

I have had those types of dreams not saving butts but of general Zombie outbreak, so does a friend of mine. More so than I!
I think it has something to do with the terror zombies inflict on psyches and these types of dreams happen fairly early on in life and continue until whenever.
Zombies are terrifying in their ability to rob you of loved ones one moment and force you to kill them the next.
This causes some seriously interesting dreams.
