An interesting article about how the US intelligence agencies have looked at the organization and funding of their networks online.

I found it funny how the article particularly mentioned WoW.

I can imagine this program came about when a couple of agents were caught playing WoW on agency time.

Agent A: "Uh, um. Sir, we're following up on some leads in the virtual network communications area."

Agent B: "Uh, yeah.  We, um, picked up a substantial degree of 'chatter' regarding weapons programs.  It could be big."

Supervisor: "Splendid! I knew I could count on the innovation of my agents.  Let me go get you some funding."

Actually, I was thinking something similar.  More along the lines of some agent playing WoW at home and realized he could make a guild with only certain people in it and have a real-time dissemination of information without anyone ever knowing what you look, sound, or act like.  Then they thought, hey, if I were a terrorist this could be a useful tool to hide behind, especially in the US and Europe.  Then they thought, hey, "maybe I can get paid by the government to play WoW."

i was thinking sometime last year free or subscription MMOs are ideal for terrorists to stay under the radar and communicate effectively.

I knew this was only a matter of time.

im wondering how you people feel about this? should we not chase after 'the chatter"?

    chips, dips chains & whips.

Not if the chatter revolves around magic swords and cloth armor...

Just keep your eyes open for suspicious guild names...

    Like <Taliban>

Then what you want to do is stalk the guild members and PK them hardcore, and you may have to camp them for days on end.

    Come on guys,

    do it for your country.
