Urrrgh sick and tired of everyone moaning about how WOW sucks and its going to fail and die. Umm I will let you in on a little secret, it works, it runs well, it looks like a painting (face it blizz has the best artists on the planet). AOC, Warhammer, AIon (god Korean grind MMO anyone), COH/COV (though I kind of like this game its not bad not great but not bad), Tabula Rasa (this game I think stinks more then donkey balls) and the countless other craptastic mmo's that are doing better then WOW (sarcasm). AOC and WAR are going to be a letdown (I know friend is in the beta I played both and well they are not that great so yeah). AOC is spamming 5 arrows on the screen over and over again yey fun! Now it has some really awesome graphics but thats all it has going for it.
Never played AION though there's a little gem called Chronicles of Spellborn (its does'nt look too bad but I dont think it stands a chance unfortunately I dont think they will find a suitable publisher for NA). I play WOW casually, not a snotnose little punk kid (I am over 30) and I love the game so its not going to die, its blizz, been playing their games since I am 15 yrs old. All of their games rocked, they sell like hotcakse so yeah face it.
wow will die when the portion of the 9million people who bought the gameand are currently subscribingplay it dies.
I just love the guys who dont beleieve WoW has over 9 million active subscribers (4.5 million in west).
Out of interest does any 1 know how many WoW boxes have been sold to-date? all we do know is they sold 2.4million boxes of TBC on day 1 of the expansion.

Boxes doesn't matter since you can purchase it online without a box, so I wouldn't pay attention to that FYI.

All Blizzard has to do, is to make one REAL bad decision, or several (eg. SWG) and people will be dropping off WoW like flies...
Well the decision to keep rating requirements on s3 gear when arena s4 comes out is a start. To me it's the most dissapointing decision they've made recently. I've been grinding away every week to earn enough points (I thought) for the s3 2hand. If the requirement is a 1650 rating, which is very likely, it will lock a lot of subscribers out of getting the 2nd best gear and widen the gap even more between hardcore and casual pvp'ers. Yeah it's only 2 peices you might say but for a warrior my 2hand is everything. Not to mention this will encourange rating/point buying even more. I'm sorry but spending my time farming gold to get gear is simply not the reason I started playing this game. I'm also not going to roll a lock or druid just to be more viable in arena. Sorry blizzard your pixels and numbers aren't worth it anymore.
Pvp is already in terrible shape considering blizzard's talent and resources. The top gear is always raid gear. They never upgraded battleground rep vendors with 70 gear. The lack of new battlegrounds, play-styles, end-game outdoor pvp is just neglectful.
Do I want to quit? Sure. But here's the worse part. There's still nothing to replace wow on the horizon. Can someone show me any compelling evidence that WAR or AOC will meet the quality requirments, have better gameplay and engage a wow fan enough to finally give up on wow? Then there's ones like darkfall that claim all these next-gen features. The problem is there will be a deal-breaker somewhere. Shallow characters, bad art, whatever.

Top end PvP gear is PvP gear. I don't know where you pick your lies up at, but I'd like to order a few pounds of whatever drugs the guy who sold them to you was on. Raid gear has no resilience, and resilience has become a must in successful PvP. Unless, of course, you enjoy having things 3 shot you because their crits own all.
New battlegrounds is pointless. They have to limit how many there are, at some point you have the players spread to thin across too many options. Gotta have lots of players getting in line to play or else you may be waiting hours to play a single AV. Also, they will probably never update battlegrounds gear. They have taken the stance that the new and good gear will come from arenas. I find that to be fair. Updating rep rewards for battlegrounds just ensures that over half the PvP player base gets immediate and free gear each time because MOST of us already have max faction with them. I know I do, back Pre-BC I needed those ice arrows.
All told, you really just whine too much. Worse, you whine about stuff that isn't real. The only factual piece you brought to the table just now was World PvP. They really have neglected that, and its not because they don't HAVE world PvP options...its because the rewards pale compared to raiding, arena, and battlegrounds. Those stupid buffs we get are kinda dumb. Halaa is a cool reward...kinda....it would be better if they offered MORE gear options there. Perhaps gear which improves in quality as the city is held longer.
WoWs PvP is a DIRECT result of the player base. Blizzard just gave the people what they wanted.
World PvP was phased out in favor of Battlegrounds because of complaining from the players. It was nearly impossible to do anything in Hillsbrad due to the lag caused by the 100 vs 100 man fights between Southshore and Tarren Mill. Sometimes it got so bad that it would crash the continent server.
Arenas were introduced because people complained that they didn't want to group with a bunch of morons in BGs to PvP, they wanted to group with a couple friends.
WoWs PvP has been shaped by the complaining of the players and not some evil conspiracy by Blizzard to kill off world PvP. Blizzard has taken steps to encourage world PvP and are planning more in patch 2.4.

You didn't address the main thing I was "whining" about: rating requirements on old arena gear. I guess add that to your list of things you agree with me on.
As to the rest of your drivel... Ok, sorry I should have specified: For instance, the top weapons (in dps and buffs) are raid not pvp in more than one catagory. It's been obvious since the beginning that the game is pve focussed and attracts more of those kinds of players. You deny this?
Come on. You offer a few facts and try to sideline the gist of the arguement. Lack of pvp content means less people pvping and less people subscribing who would love new and better pvp content. Go to the WAR and AOC forums, or any forums. People want to switch to another game primarily to look for better pvp. Sure they could just keep the same 4 battlegrounds into eternity and they wouldn't even keep the people they have. There would be more than enough in queue if they'd sharpen their pencils and give us more reasons to pvp. Horde always complain about the terrain in AV and freaking boycott over it. Well give them one with different terrain.
As far as rep gear, why invent a system and then abandon it? They haven't done this in any other area of the game. They should have maybe added a rep rank after exalted with expansion. Or, why not just reward people who fought hard to get exalted, in say, AB? At least upgrade the damn snacks.
Now don't get all worked up over one of my ideas. Maybe they suck but that's not the point. I leave the creativity up to blizzard but they need to do something. Look at the wealth of gear that can be attained through pve and then compare it to what we have in pvp. More variety is needed. Other systems need to be in place and other paths taken to win decent gear. If you're satisfied with pvp the way it is now then it simply means you don't care about it.
I'll be sure and contact the guy I got the drugs from because you sure need them.
It's not the beginning of the end or anything close to that. It may be annoying, but getting new gear gives people something to work towards. As for competition from other games, even being optimistic about the effects of AoC and WAR the worst thing I could imagine coming from it is messing with some of the low pop servers. (like upgrading or merging some of the weaker ones or possibly offering up a transfer and resetting the server type since the lowest pop server/s is pvp)
I really do not see where all of you are going with this , I mean w0w was dead the second Dark and Light came out ! It is undeniable , and the only thing even remotely close to hurting DnL is Elf Online ! I mean c'mon people !
hehe
-sorry these posts always seem to pop up and get people going - just thought I would put in a bit of comic relief (in my head anyway :P )
w0w will probably never "end" - just as EQ had never truly ended...yet.
It is just up to people's attention spans , imaginations , preferences and their willingness to spend.

Why add new content, new levels, new gear...?
Got me...
My first car was a 1982 Toyota Corolla.... My next was a 1984 Honda Accord...
I didn't complain because I missed the four doors my Corolla had...
Then again....
