Dev blogs so far: What do you think?

PsorianPsorian Member Posts: 15

Hello everyone,

So far I've already seen a lot of whining and a lot of cheering about the Dev blogs so far, but I am wondering: What do you really think about it? So I don't wanna see things like "OMG, WORLD OF PLANETSIDE FTL!!!", but well critized opinions. Why do you (not) like it? Which aspects do you base those things on?

Come on, let's have an intelligent discussion about those Devblogs for once

For the most part, i quite like it...

Apar ffrom the removal of the Justice system.

Everyone wil be an individual with the choice of starting tehre own group, those groups can set there own uniforms and badge and ranks...

The more i hear about the bases and the elem system the more i like it...

Being able to set your base to defense, elem streaming or raw material mining sounds good.

and having weapons autocreated at a more expensive price seems like a good idea, and consistent with a futeristic society with advanced technology.

I can see ther being masssive market wars...The Clans/groups who can make the cheapest goods wont just be CMG...they will need Corperation members enough people to defend, enough raw materials and enough elementum to upgrade there stats.

Im hoping to see the former GD members, take a base and have it on full defense/elementum mode,..dont waste energy on production/mining..and instead have a safe haven for new players who can join the GD clan for a while and get some free elementum...

I like the sound of the upgrades too, the more you use your gun the better you get at it, im assuming thats stuff like your cone of fire gets smaller..

Then  from the earlier dev blog i seem to remember they said that you cant just max everything...putting elem on one thing costs it from another..

Sounds good too...In RP terms i would explain that as your body can has a maximun limit for exposure to elementum or something...

hmm i went on longer then i ment too, sorry.

Zordax says the Elementum won't make someone extremely powerful, but I don't really see many ways for them to add "skills" to the game and not make it useful.  It could be to use implants like shoulder lamps and night vision, but who's going to care if its like that?

I can't stand Neocron PvP.  Mostly because I die frequently to someone with either a rare WoC gun, or someone stacking fire/poison attacks on me 5 times in 2 seconds.  It wasn't like FoM where everyone with a decent internet connection had a chance.

They could've built on top of the innovation of fom, but instead they do a u-turn and make it into a generic MMO.  Adding quests and making aliens drop money/ways to upgrade your character.

They could have built onto the criminal/law aspect of the game.  They could've built onto the mercenary aspect of the game with contract terminals.  They could have made aliens take over cities by themselves, not by GM's spawning 8 million in the mall.  They could have given objectives to take colonies.. like destroy this generator.  They could've done so much fucking more.

I don't even mind the quests much.  If I'm playing a leveling game, its sure as hell not for the PvP.  I like the stories.  I would love a storyline in FoM.  Maybe new quests every once in a while to tell us about news in the 'world'.  I know the quests are going to be the same ol' shit anyway.  Probably open 5 doors.. kill 5 enemies.. take two bases.  Nothing that will keep your attention.

What really bothers me is the 'leveling' system and the aliens dropping loot.

    Thats not FoM.

Unfortunately, this is what will sell.   Generic MMO.  Generic leveling.  Generic skills.

Someone better tell Duplex he has to add more grinding, more levels, more skills, more story quests, and more monsters.  It won't keep the leveling game playerbase if what I picture in my head is what this new fom is.

You're damn ignorant if you think you'll be having politics in this new game.

The "quests" are just like the basic missions that was auto spawned, its hardly any diffeence at all..

except you dont go to a misison terminal you go to a npc, then complete some set objectives. ok for when nobody else is about, I did loads of basic misisons in retail....

Hmm, thats what they said, at least thats the way i read it lol..

there are no mission terminals etc now..instead there area just auto generated missions the auto generated missions have pre defined objectives set by the GM using that new tool they talked about...

Thats virtualy the same as retail, you went to a mission terminal, selected the predefinted misison, ran around abit pressing a few buttons, got a little bit of cash..

    hardly seems that different...

dont see whats so bad, only time I did basic misions in retail was when nobody else was about doing stuff....or no one to run missions with, this sees the same..

Now if you got enough people you take a base and get elementum and materials spawned, it just takes out the middle man..
