    What?

Of course not, it is Warhammer and depressing is how things should be.

To take away such things would ruin the overall feel of a dark and endless struggle.

If you want rainbows n bunnies just play a High Elf.

Tbh the screenshots they show are kinda bad in that case!

  • Shifty360Shifty360 Member Posts: 629

I'm sure they can make things much darker with a little fog and atmospheric effects.

Most of the screens are rubbish anyway, but if you look around you'll find a couple of good ones.

    sure.

anyways the classes are cool tho i have watched the movies for the sorcerer and the cleric and other they sound pretty awesome. makes the game worth while if it is like that :)

I think the most important aspect is variety in their atmosphere and zones. So if they nail that then depress away.

This is one reason I think they did right in making the lore component of the game important in the "TOK". People coming from WOW calling WP and DoK clerics, really need that explanation of why the Warhammer world is suppose to be gloomy.

I think it would be a good idea if you are interested OP to do a lil research into the Warhammer world before posting something like this again (will keep the flamers at bay) just my two cents.

    One word:

                                WAR!!!

PS: Listen to Carnivore "Male Supremacy" or at least try to read the lyrics - that should set you on the right mood, thank you very much. - beware as the title of the song suggest it's very mysoginistic then at the end it isn't at all! But at least you might be set to bash some enemies heads when you'll play WAR. BTw it isn't depressing at all - Teletubies are...

    Cheers!

The warhammer universe is a dark complected place. I believe its portrayed correctly. I love the books and the tabletop game. It gives you a really good perspective of the world.

Played : WOW, LOTRO, COH/COV, EQ2, SWG, and WAR.
    Playing EVE Online and AOC.
    Wtg for SW:TOR and WOD

They haven't added lighting and special effects to many zones yet. But if you really aren't happy, just turn up the gamma/brightness.

More excited about this game than ever........simply due to the fact that the "tone" of the game just scared away the OP.

It doesn't seem "misty" to me...

I'm sure that each area will have its own chacter - some will have mist, some will have lava, some will have forests...

I think you have to take into consideration that the screenshots will be from areas that they were testing at that time and they may not have tested the sunny/happy realm yet.

As someone else here stated, the texture and lighting for some of the areas isn't finished.  It's also possible that they weren't all turned on.

But, a better way to explain it...

That 'dark' feel helps set the tone for the game.  It's a time of 'war'.  Smoke, blood, shadow, murder, death, kill, terror, rage, gore, etc.,... with the occasional beacon of light or two (burning human corpses make for nice light sources).

I just don't think I would want to play a game that is supposed to be about war, conflict, combat, killing, etc.,... but yet, the environment looked like a summer resort or spa, or like Clark and the kids are at Walley World.  The WAR Dev's are simply helping to provide a more 'realistic' setting for the virtual world you reside in.

I'm sure there are areas of the game with sunlight, green grass, etc.,... Hang out there all ya want... you'll be an easier target to spot.

Whats depressing is the combat, slow, boring looking and your fighting in a bunch of people who look just like you. It needs speeding up big time.

  • EasyEEasyE Member Posts: 111

    Warhammer too morbid you say?

    Whatever gave you that idea?

If you think WAR is dark then 40k is about 80% more dark.  Whats more disturbing and grotesque then a bunch of sentient robots draped in human skin like its a winter coat?  None the less having the blood drip off into their joints which can be used to grease them >.>
