"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
Avatar-Strictly based on Elements each element is in war against eachother
Medieval total War-Sandbox MMo like Roma Victor but better of course but based on strict Medieval lore(not fantasy)
Resident Evil MMo-ot sure if it would work but would be cool to co-op an apocalyptic Zombie fest
Time warped MMo- some kind of MMo where different time era's merge and you have all kinds of weird and whacky things going on e.g picture this, Cowboys,Knights, Robots,e.t.c basically anything that you could think of been thrown into the mix
last but not least
Asheron's Call2 to be re released that for me looked the shit and would be greataly accepted if it were re-released never got to play it but damn wish i did have the chance.
Western ( one in the works..early works) Frontier 1859 MMO.... might be to hard core forthe carebears though
Trigun
Krondor series by Fiest would be a good setting.
Battletech
Forgotten relms setting
And my first love AC2 free to play or pay. w/ the xpac they juiced everyone on. re release this and I quit WOW hands down and would pay 20$ a month for it.
None of these in any order
And anything that doesnt have target locks on you or what you want to attack. I would like to be able to dodge those fireballs or arrows sometime, enstead of eating them. Open world skill system with lvls just to show how far along you are.
How many delicate flowers have you met in Counterstrike?
I got a case of beer and a chainsaw waiting for me at home after work.
- Syndicate MMO: Control four agents. Get miniguns. Turn the street into charnel house.
- X-Com MMO: It would almost have to be real-time to be successful. One player group controls the aliens, one player group controls the humans. Each gets a planet to develop and protect. There can be only one winner, the worlds reset and things start again.
- A 'Dark World' setting MMO: C'mon, The Secret World! C'mon, Cryptic's unnannounced dark world title! I want a modern world setting fighting against elder gods!
- Blood Bowl / Brutal Sports MMO: Manage the team! Crush your opponents! Drive over them in a steamroller! Score in the end zone!
- Champions Online: Let's see how this turns out. :-)
1. Sci-Fi "Western" (think EVE and pre-NGE SWG planetary combat in one package). 2. Star Wars MMO either pre-KOTOR or post RotJ to allow jedi within the storyline. 3. Oblivion MMO <-- Probably unworkable without losing the core gameplay, but one can dream. 4. Warhammer 40k <-- in developement .. I have high hopes! 5. Fallout MMO <-- everyone loves Fallout. I'd to look for concepts that allow "realistic" magic in some form, be it via advanced nanotechnology in a sci-fi setting, jedi/psionic powers or radiation-fueled mutation. There's an awful lot of ideas bandied about for MMO's where "magic" just wouldn't fit the concept.
I have a hard time coming up with five mmos that they wouldn't crap up totally by making it carebear, class/level-based etc.
I'd love to see some of these, but without following the cookie-cutter mmo shape of today. No particular order.
Conan the Barbarian MMO that doesn't cater to WoW fans. After reading Robert E. Howard's books about Conan, I find AoC lacking in many ways. I despise classes because of the restrictions they put on your character, and I despise levels because they seem to mean that you have to advance from being nothing to being some sort of demi-god. A proper, hard-core, skillbased system with PvP everywhere (but with guards and law enforcment in cities) and full loot would suit AoC so much better, because the world Howard describes is harsch and unforgiving.
Lord of the Rings Online, again without the WoW-factor. LotrO today is a disgrace, and once again the original books have been warped so far beyond recognition it makes a fan cry, and all in the name of commercialism. This is another setting that would cater greatly to a proper skillbased system, more open PvP and faction wars (i.e. players on both sides). I would have set it in an earlier age though, a lot easier to fit an mmo into the lore of the first war of the ring than during the events of the trilogy. Also, for some reason every mmo has to have fireballs and magic, even when it's based on a book where most folk couldn't use magic as advanced as that. I wouldn't mind not being able to play a fireballcasting mage, because the heroes of Tolkiens world are soldiers, rangers and simple men. They just had to cram it in there though.
A aliens/predator/colonial marines mmo could possibly be excellent. I would consider having the RPG bit to a minimum though. Probably make it more of an mmofps, but with some resource/promotion system for getting equipment, although a basic marine should get good enough equipment to be able to make a difference on the battlefield from day one. One thing that needs to change in some of these games is the grind to get to the end game. What about an mmo where the end game starts straight away? The AvP universe would cater excellently to that, since it's very much about action and suspense rather than killing lots of aliens to "collect 20 alien teeth" or somesuch. Missions could range from 3-5 man standard missions to ones that encompass a plutoon or more, heading deep into hostile territory. Naturally, you could play all three sides.
Darkfall Online - this is pretty much my dream MMORPG at the moment. When it comes out (and it will), I will be there and hopefully it will live up to my expectations (I've learnt over the years to not get hyped up about games until after I've actually tried them). It draws heavily from UO, which is still by far the best MMORPG I've played ever, bar none (and I've tried a few).
Something completely new and innovative that doesn't follow the structure of any mmo today. I am not sure exactly what it would be, but I'm sure there's someone out there with an excellent idea and no funding or talent to bring it to life (of course, for every one of these there are 100 people with appalling ideas without funding).
______________________________ The Sceptics, yes they're special but we've need them to.. I guess. And if they're put more effort MMORPG.com can create a 'Team Sceptic' and send them to the Special Olympus.
1) Battletech/Mechwarrior - This by far my number one.. interesting/strategic combat, 4/5 different houses to chose from, lots of intrigue, changing wars, mercenary units for guilds, arena fighting... just would be fantastic.
2) Medieval Total War - Not as individual soldiers, but as leaders... as you go up in levels you get to command more men rts style
All I got is two... as much as I like fantasy, I'm just in the mood for something new.
3) Oblivion/KOTOR/Mass Effect combo - Basically an relatively sandbox MMO where your decisions all matter in how the world perceives you and acts toward you. Doesn't matter if it's Sci-Fi, Fantasy, or something inbetween.
1. Stargate Worlds MMO --I am really looking forward to this one...
2. Dungeon Siege MMO --A fun, very basic game. Plays much like Guild Wars, actually. One of the things that made this game fun was that players could create chapters/campaigns that you could download and play. I would love to see an MMO with that kind of angle.
3. Guild Wars 2 MMO --This one ought to be good, but it won't be ready till 2009 at the soonest.
4. Titan Quest MMO --Would love to see a well-made mythology/ancient-world MMO. I was really bummed when Gods and Heroes bit the dust.
5. Firefly MMO --This would be a fun setting for an MMO, imo. I hope it happens some day.
I'm also keeping an eye on: ... Fallen Earth, Warhammer Online, Earthrise, and Worldshift, as well as the Free-to-Play MMOs Mythos and Battlefield Heroes.
3. Ultima Online 2. (In a hypothetical situation where Richard Garriott gets insanely rich after discovering the first alien race, comes back to earth, and buys the Ultima IP back from EA and refounds OSI.)
4. Cyberpunk/Dystopian setting MMO. Open ended, skill based, virtual world-esque.
5. Starcraft (Not really an MMO, but an online action RPG.)
Man is born, man lives, man dies, and its all vanity.
Comments
5. Star Trek Online
4. Star Craft Worlds
3. NFL Online
2. Oblivion Online
1. Darkfall Online (by a real developing company instead of the Hoax we have now)

Let's give gamers what they really want. From least to greatest:
5. Gamers versus Developers: Saga of Unending Struggle
4. Everquest Customer Service - I had to play it more than Everquest anyway.
3. Leet-speak 'n Epix - To get them off of the roleplay games I like.
2. Patch Day - The hardest MMORPG to play.
1. QQ Beach & M'own - It's what gamers do best.
http://www.allaboutgod.com/
My "Fave 5" in no particular order (Don't sue me please T-mobile)
Babylon 5.
Car Wars. anyone remember that old pen and paper game? Auto-assault tried it but was WAY to watered down
Cyberpunk. another old pen and paper game. Your typical post-apocolyptic genre. (yes, I am dating myself mentioning these last 2)
Mechwarrior. I think this would be better as a PvP game tho. I don't see much potential for PvE.
Everybody Loves Raymond Online. Okay - this is not serious - I just couldn't think of a 5th.
I'm not creative enough to have a signature
1. A proper WWII MMOFPS in the style of planetside.
2. Cyperbunk. (like the PnP)
3. Motorcity Online2
1. Stargate Worlds MMO
--I am really looking forward to this one...
2. Dungeon Siege MMO
--A fun, very basic game. Plays much like Guild Wars, actually. One of the things that made this game fun was that players could create chapters/campaigns that you could download and play. I would love to see an MMO with that kind of angle.

1. fallout was a good idea. that was fun
2. AC3, but after the abysmal AC2 i dont think turbine would touch that even with unlimited funds.
3. might play AoC until...
4. TCoS. /e prays to the gods of MMO's for patience.
1 - Discworld MMO - anything is really possible with this universe
2 - Babylon 5 MMO - again strong background, different races lots of potential
3 - MMO based on David Gemmel books would be tops
4 - An MMO based around the Witcher series of books, the game was not bad, and i liked the story in it . allround it has some has some potential
5 - Dune MMO could be really good
1. Dune (which appears to be getting the most votes)
2. Planet of the apes
3. Flash Gordon (based off the comic, not the horrible new show.. endless posibllties wit this IP )
4. Shadow Run / Cyber punk
5 Dr Who, or Time Machine
Babylon 5
Dragon riders of Pern
THe Sword of SHanarra
Star trek
A revamped Everquest
2. Good cyberpunk MMO. Something like Neocron2 with better graphics and gameplay.
3. Time Travel MMO with ability to travel in numerous ages, past and future.

5. Starcraft (Not really an MMO, but an online action RPG.)
Man is born, man lives, man dies, and its all vanity.
i just thought of another one that would work quite well, anyone remember
Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura
a steampunk meets high fantasy genre, at the start of an industrial revolution, but magic is still used, would have quite a bit of potential
1 A quality remake of earth and beyond, and definatly not owned by ea-games.
playing eq2 and two worlds
1. Kotor online by bioware
2. Dune mmo
3. old kingdom (garth nix) mmo
4. any DECENT fully FPS MMO
5. any DECENT looting MMO and player run ecconomy
best would be a mmo with loot and a FPS combat system (a la oblivion), set in 1,2 or 3 universe
My blog:
1. A steampunk MMO based on some alternate Earth history, with a DDO-like combat system.
2. An MMO based on the Napoleonic Wars.
3. An MMO set in feudal Japan.
4. A Dungeons and Dragons MMO set in an open world. (maybe a DDO sequel?)
5. Stargate Worlds.
...moo?
5. Babylon 5, with JMS as Executive Producer and integrated real physics space combat for the starfuries.
4. Dune, and release the hounds if Brian Herbert goes anywhere near it.
3. Larry Niven's Known Space, especially Ringworld.
2. Classic Traveller.
1. Barsoom, with designs by Michael Whelan.
2. KotOR mmo
3. true medieval mmo (no magic and such bs, real medieval stuff, just humands, no dwarves, elves, orcs, etc...you get my point)
4. modern military sim mmo (armed assault kinda works for this but a true mmo would be awesome)
5. something that is just a "wow clone"
